Lightbar Highlight: Federal Signal Aerodynic- CA Spec
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is a short demonstration of my Federal Signal CA Spec Aerodynic lightbar. This is my first CA Spec lightbar, and although it was very dirty and beat up when I got it, I was able to restore it to the beauty that it is today. I love having a few CA Spec bars in my collection, and this one is probably my most favorite of that group.
No lightbar shown in this video are for sale.
Be sure to check out my original Aero bar too: • Lightbar Highlight: Fe...

Early LAPD had the BIG alley lights flashing during code 3 runs

Yep, they had those made special, so that you could still send the light flashing out of the end of the lightbar.
Love it! Hope you eventually get an LAPD Aerodynic!

I hope so too!

That was an early model LAPD configuration.
Similar to the version LAPD used during the 80's. However LAPD's were slightly longer and had three rotators per side instead of two.

yep. I wish I had a legit LAPD stamped bar, but I'll take a CA Spec for now.... even if I have no idea where it came from :)

6 rotators must have kept alternator manufacturers busy.
@adamslights You can see this lightbar configuration in action during episodes of T.J. Hooker on the TV network FETV. Check your local listings!

Yep!
Is this the 24MEAH-T? I have the exact same one I'm restoring. I bought it from a guy who builds Dukes of Hazzard cars. It was missing the original rotators so I threw some Code 3 MX7000 ones in it, but I don't like them very much. I managed to find the original gear driven lights and the motors on eBay. It's on my channel if you wanted to see it. I wired mine differently though. I used a flasher to alternate both the front and rear lights, including the takedown. Didn't realize CA spec meant a steady front red.

Yeah, CA spec requires that at least 1 steady red (no flashing, rotating etc) to the front, with at least 1 flasher amber to the rear. That's one of the most recognizable features of California bars.

Adam's Lights Oh man, that makes so much sense. My RX2700 has two front steady reds and I had no idea why. I almost thought they were S/T/T modules in the wrong spots.
Start AT 0:11 AND END AT 1:30 - you're welcome

Super solid advice.
I've never seen this bar before but I'm assuming that in other states there would be 2 takedowns? It's interesting how manufacturers fit all the operations in a bar when halogens and rotaters took up so much more space.
@AdamsLights

You are correct, a typical bar would be more symmetrical with the Takedowns... but CA never does anything normal :)

CA still has that "one steady burn red light" in their vehicle code.

@@1VaDude correct!
I'm assuming a SW200 6 switch panel would be utilized.. 1. Rotating Lights 2. Flashing lights 3. Steady Burn 4. Work light/ Takedown light 5. Left Alley 6. Right Alley Or would switch #2 be a steady burn ? Keeping switches #1 #2 #3 forward, #4 rear and #5 #6 Alleys See this is why I cant figure out the cure for cancer. I'm working on LAPD lighting switchbox setups.
@AdamsLights

It's actually a SW300 switchbox- and yes- almost all of my lights are controlled by various SW300 boxes (check out my 4-part series on the wiring of my collection to see more on that). It's doesn't really matter what order you put them in- it's whatever makes sense for you. HOWEVER- keep in mind that 1 of the switches has a 40amp circuit, while the other 5 switches only have 20amp fuses.... so you will definitely want to make sure that the rotators are on the 40amp fuse.... other than that, it's up to personal taste. For my bar, it's wired as follows: 1- Rotators 2- Steady Red 3- Rear Flashers 4- Takedown 5- Both Alleys 6- Spare

@@AdamsLights Maybe you could use change switch one to one set of rotators, and put the other set of rotators on switch 6.
@AdamsLights
3 жыл бұрын
@@thelightguy2 You certainly could, however I'm not a huge fan of separating the rotators. I'm an all or nothing kind of guy :)
When you have the clear takedown on does it drowned out the blue
