Yay Shay! I started following her after TPL collaboration in 2023. I haven’t watched her videos for awhile, not becoz of quality they were excellent, this is nice reminder to remember her. I enjoyed learning about her efforts to de-litter & change attitudes/educate & “meeting” her daughters on videos.

Have to say Michael, Shay is an awesome person. I started following her when she was in Iloilo on your channel. For the first time. This woman and her friends do so much for their community and the young people. To think someone emails you not to meet with her. Well shame on them I hope others join her community and help support her efforts.

New subscribers here Michael. We are patrons and subs of Shay and Professor Ron’s channel Life With Shay. Nothing like it on YT. She’s all class, talent, and beauty, and though we’ve never seen the professor, we learn new vocabulary and deep ideas from him. :) They are making short YT movies and docu-videos. So happy you interviewed her before she becomes a super star 😊

When you're in bigger cities where tricycles are not the main mode of transportation, don't hire a tricycle to get you around the city. Like in Iloilo, tricycles have specific routes only like example the one that only goes from Plazuela to Atria, they would be cheaper coz it's a specific route. But if it's either has no route (offering to take you around) or only drives at night, usually they're colorum and not registered. So yes taxis/Grab and jeep/buses are preferred in Iloilo City to get around. In smaller cities like San Jose Antique, Kalibo and Roxas you can get a cheaper tricycle ride coz they are main modes of transport there.

It can see that the lady does not speak English articulately enough. I don't mind the yes or no format. You can reply yes or no and extend your answer as the case demands. So, it's not a bad format at all. It is actually a great way to lead an answer in a certain direction. It's the responsibility of the lady or whoever it is being interviewed to elaborate the yes or no with more content and additional insight. Many Filipinos cannot articulate well in English, both written and spoken, but they do very well in their Tagalog, Cebuano, and whatever they know natively.

I hope the locals should at least pronounce their place the way it should be pronounced. Dumaguete is pronounced as DU-MA-GE-TE. Not DU-MA-GE-TI. Americans/Canadians pronounce it as DU-MA-GE-TI but the locals should not follow them. The locals should not adjust their pronunciation for the foreigners. In fact, it should be the foreigners who should pronounce the place the way the locals pronounce it.

Saw this when it came out but popped up in my recommended videos list again. Should have commented back then. Take this as constructive criticism and not bashing Michael. Let the interviewee speak. Speak less, listen more. I wanted to hear what she had to say, not what you wanted to say. This also shows up when people are trying to teach you how to pronounce something and you butcher it because you won't take the time to listen carefully. You even once read a sign that said Margita but you pronounced it Margarita which was incorrect. In your touring videos you do a decent job. Show more of the surroundings and less of your face. I do appreciate your work ethic but there are some rough edges that could be polished if you slow down a bit. You're in the Phillipines man, what's the rush? You're missing the point of being there.

Please, beware of the condominium complex being tall because the Philippines is located on "The Ring Of Fire".

There are 15 countries in the ring of fire. That will include the US, Japan, Singapore and even Chile, Canada and Mexico. Are you saying that all these countries should not have tall buildings because they are in the ring of fire?

@@wavemaker2077 They should not have tall buildings because in Bali, Indonesia, also located on "The Ring Of Fire", a building cannot be legally taller than an adult coconut palm tree.

It's good to warn people and increase awareness, but the risk is really related to how the buildings are designed and constructed. For example, a moderate earthquake in Japan, will cause little to no damage to a modern structure. But a structure of the same height not built to the same standard, for example Haiti, is far more dangerous. I'm hopeful that eventually these earthquakes standards will be near universal, to prevent people from getting hurt when earthquakes strike.
