The environment animals exist in shape their behaviour so much. When they are completely comfortable and able to trust humans the way they trust their own family, then they can relax and reveal their other personalities that we rarely get to see. But it's the same jackal personality, every jackal out there has the same potential to be a cuddlebug if they're not forced by the necessity of survival to be ferocious.

My golden loved to get into the litter box. We called it going to the buffet box because the real description used to make me gag. The litter box was a lidded one and it was under the sink in the laundry room. So to remedy the situation we turned the box lid around so access was only from the back. The cat could easily fit between the box and washing machine to get into the box. There was plenty of room for him to stand on the edge and scratch to his hearts content. Once we did that the extra curricular dining came to a halt👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The vet said the reason some dogs do that is because they’re missing something in their diet. That might be true, but I doubted it when it came to my golden. He would eat dirt just for fun. We had him to the beach and he would run his open mouth along the sand like a steam shovel. He’s fill up, spit it out and do it all over again. The whole time his tail was wagging crazy. Great dog, but a bit insane😂 Though I miss him every day now that he’s been gone😢 My long winded point is to maybe just turn the box around so Fauna can’t get to it🤷🏼‍♀️🤞🏻

The foxes are probably worse. Jackal live in family groups, so they have a pack behavior, like dogs. Foxes are solitary, so tougher to manage. They answer to no one. At least with the Jackal, you can be the pack master. Works with wolves too. If you raise wolves, they view you as the packmaster and usually don't kill you.

I find jackals very interesting. I watch a livestream from Namibia and a couple times a day, usually pre-dawn or soon afterwards, one or more black-backed jackals will swing by the waterhole to drink. They will give larger animals a wide berth but don't seem afraid of much. Sometimes a cape fox will visit, but I've never caught a fox and jackal visiting at the same time, so no idea how they'd react to each other.

I watch that waterhole livestream too and the jackal couple is one of my favorite visitors. They're there so often, it amazes me something so furry with such high energy levels can bare to live in that heat! I like the hyenas too but they only visit at night to have their hyena pool party❤.😅

Fauna is stunning. Anubis is my favourite God. His ears are beautiful! Both are sooo gorgeous ❤❤❤

Anubis: I was BORN to be spoiled!! He's so cute. I never thought of a jackel being cute. But that boy! Adorable!! I don't know how you can look at them without always kissing them. Honestly, they are about the cutest. Time outs are okay. Bites in the but aren't cute, but I understand.

Anubis rolling erratically on the bed reminds me of my dog, who died three years ago and used to jump onto my parents bed on Sunday mornings for a craze of rolling and groaning. He even got the same thin stretchy legs ! (He was a Brittany spaniel, aka mischief and sweetness personified 💜)

Fauna’s smiles are just everything!!! I wish my dogs would smoke on command lol I have one dog that has picked up on it and does it for belly rubs sometimes when he feels like it lol 😂

Hopefully the cat has someplace very high to go and hide when the others are getting a little too frisky in their play

Fauna is a great big sister observer, looking after all the animals, not just the foxes. Abubis is a wild crazy boy, but he seems to be living good, albeit a troublemaker.

So that's what a jackal is they are adorable

My wife doesn't put me in a crate when I misbehave; she just makes me sleep outside overnight... P.S. Anubis needs a chew toy. 🥰
