Personally, I think academics can sometimes feel isolated or lonely since our experiences are so unique and specific but watching your videos gives me the reassurance that someone else is going through similar things when it comes to historical research and academic life, and that's so important to me. You inspire that. 🙂

As an archivist that’s about to start my journey getting my second masters in history, I just wanted to say 1) thank you so much for all of your helpful content and 2) talking about how to make a research appointment at the archives! 😁 I’ve always wanted to pursue higher ed in History for years and I’m finally doing it now.. and your content has me absolutely excited for what’s to come. I’m taking this time to see if I want to pursue a PhD afterwards! Wishing you all the best! Also: I read “The Maidens” earlier this year! Definitely did not expect the ending!

I really hope you keep the channel since I only just found it! Life events interrupted my PhD program and now I'm trying to re-enter the program. I find your videos incredibly motivating as you are honest about both your ups and downs. I appreciate that you don't sugar coat everything and are honest that you're not 100% motivated all the time, but you manage to push forward any way. You remind me that I have the ability to be resilient as well. I also find it useful to see how another student hones their skills in writing, research, etc. Most often we don't talk about the technical know-how of writing, researching, and active reading. It's nice to get some tips to improve the process! Good Luck in your up-coming research trip!

Hi Kaelyn! Thanks for opening up so much in the past few vlogs. It’s been interesting to hear your reflections. I’ve been following you for a while and your content has helped me so much in feeling less alone while I’ve been working on my MA. Thankfully I graduate in August, but it has been tough on weekends seeing everyone go out and about and live their best life, while I’m at my desk doing homework all weekend. I also work full time, so that adds another layer to it, but I’m glad I had someone who I knew was also doing homework and working on their education. Thanks for your content!

I started following you for academics specifically and as I was prepping for graduate school, but I enjoy both academic-based and daily/week vlogs. I am subscribed so I figure that when you post - I will watch but I guess I don’t expect it from you because you’re human. I hope that people will understand that it’s okay to be excited and eager to see and be included but sometimes you just need to go dark and relax or do whatever else. I can’t wait to see/hear about the Summer research trip but that’s also because I’m in my Masters in Archiving so I get quite excited! Unrelated but - I also feel you about dating. I’ve been on a handful of dates over the last few years and only one was interesting and passionate about his career, hobbies, and life in general. Everyone else has been absolute cardboard or we just don’t mesh at all.

I just stumbled upon your KZread channel today while I was looking for videos about Yale and I’m already so intrigued and interested in your content and business. I graduated undergrad in Dec and moved up to New Haven to start a clinical research position for the school of medicine at Yale and I have only been here for a little over a month and am still getting settled in and trying to get acclimated to my new environment and job. I find your videos very comforting because I don’t exactly know the path I want to go down in terms of career and grad school yet but to see a woman as driven and passionate as yourself inspires me on so many levels. Will definitely be subscribing and following you along your journey!

Just sending some love to let you know how much I appreciate you and how much you inspire me-not in a general way, but in a very practical way where I go to your channel to remind myself of what I want and what I’m working so hard for. I love watching your channel and learn so much. I am starting to research the possibility of getting a MA in a few years (after my son graduates from HS) and love the videos you post. I love seeing New Haven (and Moo!). Your education is changing and it's great to see what to expect. I've also mentioned several things to my daughter, who starts college this fall, so she can see how some things can be done. It is great to be able to give her some ideas as her degree will take a while. You have every right to privacy and if people demand certain videos from you, then they can pay you a monthly salary to create those videos! :) Ha, ha, ha! I can't wait to see England when you get back there. I am hoping to get to Europe in a few years, as well. Always learning, always looking at the past to remind me that all is not lost - humans have survived a lot and we can survive what we're going through now. This was such a great vlog, and I'm so glad to hear you're finding your way back out of the weeds with KZread. You're definitely one of those comfort KZreadrs for me, your vlogs especially, but like you said it never once occured to contact you about getting more of them. Like we're all busy, and quite frankly you owe random people on the internet nothing at all 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know sometimes it seems like the demands and hate comments are a bit part of the audience, but remember that there's a whole lot of people like me just tuning in in silence and enjoying your presence whenever you pop up in our sub boxes!

I have been finding myself being more productive because of your content regardless whether it’s just a study with me or vlog. I’m only finishing up my bachelors but your content is really connectable to business majors who are interested in getting their masters degrees too.

Or at the very least not harangue you about it. How bizarre. You don't owe your viewers specific videos. No one has to be here if they don't want to! There are lots of creators whose content I watch even though I don't relate to them, I'm not in the same life phase, etc., just because I enjoy the genuine way they communicate and I like seeing the way different people live. But I digress. Looking forward to whatever content you want to post going forward! Loved this video!

There’s a little book called “The Allure of the Archive” by Arlette Farge (I think that’s the right author) which is all about the Bastile archive and it’s just such a fun, fascinating look at archival research. I kind of feel you with dating, I always felt like when I am interested in dating it needs to be someone who has a passion in something in their lives, not involving a relationship. I think those people tend to just be outwardly attractive personality wise

You have probably come across it already, but Richard Ligon’s “A true and exact history of the island of Barbados” might help with your research. Dr. Keith Sandiford of Louisiana State University is an expert on the book and the region and at one point LSU Hill Memorial Library had an original from 1657 in their collection available for viewing.

You are far better off with Moo alone than to add some stiff to your life because it seems to be taking too long. Hold out for a passionate man, we do exist though we tend to come from more troubled backgrounds than you may be used to. Respectable backgrounds often produce stiffs, it's a paradox.

I might have missed it, but is your London trip personally financed or was it included in your funding/did you find an outside source? I’m one of those people (despite being a PhD student) that has no idea what I want to do with my life and honestly I find people like you who have such a direction so intimidating (but in a good inspiring way).
