Life-threatening flash floods drown Alabama in six inches of rain
Areas of Alabama which had not previously seen flash floods were inundated on Wednesday night after six inches of rain fell in a day, leaving motorists to abandon their cars and flooding homes. A child, who has not been identified, became the first victim of the flooding after they died in Arab, northeast Alabama. 'MORE heavy rain (round 4 at least at this point) is forming & moving into areas already suffering from significant and life-threatening flooding,' tweeted the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham on Wednesday night. 'Scanner traffic indicate numerous water rescues from vehicles and homes & roads submerged.' The Birmingham metro area - which is home to 1.1 million people - was the epicenter of the floods after six inches of water fell in just one day. Experts warned that flooding was occurring even in areas that did not often see high water levels.

When I was a little girl, there were certain STATES that struck terror in my heart. Alabama was one of those states and especially Birmingham and Montgomery. In my little mind, one could die there! I can recall even now hearing the State of Alabama on our television news all the time back then.........so now, whenever I hear about any devastation in certain states, I understand what's actually taking place.
