Life of a South Dakota Rancher
Welcome to Sonne Farms! On this channel we showcase numerous jobs a Corn/Soybean/Beef producing operation takes on each day. Hop in the cab or sorting alley with Cole, Brian, and Jeff, to see how life really is for the people that help feed the US and the rest of the world. In addition to Corn, Soy, and Cattle, Sonne Farms puts up grass and alfalfa and sells pure bred Black Angus Bulls in South Dakota.

So true...
Who says cows don't have a sense of humor. Cole the cows and their calves are playing mind games with you. Hiding then reappearing and laughing in their cow laughter behind your back. 😜🐮🐄🤣
You will appreciate this footage of you and your dad for generations. God bless your family.

Another old building for us to have a look at , when you have a quiet day, just sayin
I like how more and more comfortable your dad gets in each video. Used to never say anything.
That's my idea of "social distancing," South Dakota style! You and your dad's interactions are funny and entertaining... he seems like a great guy 😊
For me this is the best time of year , it has its up and downs , the stress of calving / lambing is nearly over, , then the weather begins to change, there's new life , new energy, the land begins to dry, its a great day ,when all animals are fed and healthy and the sun is shining... damn near to contentment as you can get.
You can really tell in this video how much this farmer enjoys having his son working with him on his ranch! , ! That's really a great thing! Lol
Cole an Dad thanks for taking time to share, so much to learn, yes wheres the meat loaf , so many ways to be made , Peace Blessings Craig
Dad, loved the GREEN ACRES reference. That was funny. I loved that show when I was growing up on a Kansas Farm. That’s when I learned how ‘not bright’ city folk were. Then 30 years later I moved to NYC. It’s true. They don’t know a thing about farm living or how to fix anything even around an apt.

Just another day at the Sonne Farms! Thanks for sharing the video.
"How old is this fence", "Older than me", "So it's doing pretty good then.". It's a wonder Daddy didn't slap you with those pliers! LOL
I bet those calves and heifers love the sun🌞😍
Just found your channel (by accident) and we LOVE your video's. We so enjoy you and your dad, you guys crack us up. Way better than watching TV.

Lots of little calves hope the prices are good when they sell. I put an 18.4 x34 tire in the round bale feeders holds the hay off the ground and the cattle clean up the hay so much better. Also gets rid of another 4020 tire. Be safe out there we need you.
I was just saying to myself after you last video, be nice to see your Mom. And her she is!
I have been sat here everyday watching your videos....I love your family you make me smile everyday Thank you x

I'm 54 . I love when your dad does the flash backs . Green acres is a place to be fram living a sight to see. I loved those clean shows
“That’s gross,” and “I have a weak stomach today.” How many times I said the same damn thing during calving season LOL. Thanks for the vids and the laughs - you always manage to put a smile on my face, Cole!

Love seeing Mrs Tami. 😆🙏💙🐨
Good to see mom joining in. Thanks
I used to stand on the Thatcher and ride while dad did our yard...:) good son Cole👏👏👏
The love in your dads eyes for you is a gift. .
I am impressed by the hard work your family goes through on a daily basis which is usual for most farmers. I just wish all the young folks who have nothing to do but protest this day and age could go help you on the farm for a period and be productive for a change!
I keep coming back for the corny jokes an good laughs. I got a weak stomach sometimes. 🤣🤣
The disappearing calves give you a chance to play with your new wheels and what man doesn't like playing with his toys? It's good that your mom feeds you after helping her unlike your dad! Excellent video y'all as always I enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Oh and it looks like you are getting close to 50k subscribers, way to go!

Dad: "Did you ever hear of Green Acres?" (Pitch fork in hand) Cole: "It's about a dog right?" Dad: "That was Lassie!" These are the just some of the moments that make your videos priceless!!
Calf's are so cute! Thanks for your time on this video! Fixing fence seems non stop!
It's nice to chill on a real ranch instead of my hobby farm for once! Thanks for sharing!
Wow , those are some beautiful calfs 😃👍❤
Love your videos. Hope you guys pull through this Corona thing. I've been reading about packing plants closing, affecting price of beef. God Bless

I use a blade called linoleum blade in my utility knife to cut bale wrap. Lasts a lot longer than a straight utility blade.

Yes it was there. Bet you wish you could go back to school so you could get a day off. I am not a farmer or rancher. You two do a lot of work in a day. Thanks for the videos.
My grandma always said “don’t let your meat loaf!!” Truer words were never spoken.
Couldn't help but notice the Busch Latte! Nectar of the gods! I think I'll go get one 😁
We need to get you sat down and binge watching some Green Acres!

When my uncle said anything about the tv show Green Acres , he was insulting you. LOL
It’s not gross it’s farming I grew up on a dairy farm. Dad thought he had three little unpaid hired hands. You guys show dealing with cattle in all it’s Glory Thanks
Looks like the "Green Acres House" behind you....from a distance!
Brian, How can that boy of yours not know about Green Acres? Cole, clearly you have a real life and don't watch a bunch of old TV. Mom's meatloaf looked good. Take care all!
Wow! Mom does exist! It was cool to see her. She seems very chill. 😏. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks to mom and dad, and the fun stuff you got to do, collectively they really pushed this episode into the red! 🔥🌈🌻🌎😎Thanks and keep up the good work. 👏💐🌺🌸. Professor Dewey L......
very good videos brother, greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Watching you videos is refreshing and inspiring for me even though I have never worked the field. I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Southern California and I hope to find a job close to where I can buy land for having a hobby farm and enjoy the rural life.

Love your term pairs here in Australia we say cows and calves. Good to see Momma Sonne, love the Dad joke about Green Acres, LOL, probably doesn’t translate to the younger generation. Good to see family love in action.
I'm so glad smells don't come through KZread! LOL! You guys definitely work hard, but it has to be incredibly rewarding at the end of the day to know you actually did something.
Nice to meet your Mom! A formal introduction would have been courteous. Be careful or you may find that meatloaf where the sun don'r shine. I'm thinking alien abduction on the disappearing calves.

Watching from Tampa. Your dad is awesome. I’m about 35 videos in. He reminds me of my best friend’s dad growing up. It’s awesome the way he looks at you, I’m a young dad of 3 and that look is pure pride. You should number your videos. I love watching but what am I doing wrong that I can’t watch them in order. Btw in the episode where you were counting the calves, you spelled you dads name wrong on the dry erase board 😃

I gotta tell you dude, I've watched all your vids from your first silent movies up until now and it's been great watching you and your channel grow and the videos just keep getting better! I'm absolutely fascinated by what you and your dad do every day. I feel like I shoulda been a farm boy, though I did marry a farm girl! Keep up the great work! I love this channel! BTW, why don't you guys put in irrigation in the pens leading to drainage ponds? Is it even feasible?
@SonneFarms
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! The standing water is only temporary (we have more droughts than wet years) and the cost of irrigation pumps/pipes would not be worth it.
"Uncomfortable as a thumb drag during a wrestling match" HA Ha. Ha. Ha. I like your cowboy witticism, even without a horse..
What is your opinion of putting a lowline angus bull on the 1st calf heifers?
Busch Beer. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
You guys crack me up ma where's the meat loaf Green acres is the place to be haha
I have a ginger minger collie like yours, the long coat takes a bit of grooming.
Cowboy up dude!
Who makes those metal feed bunks at the beginning of the video?
11:11 is that the calf?
I live in Brookings South Dakota

I want to hear your dad finish the movie quote...
