How do you plan on doing the remaining 1 year of articles, are you going to leave your current job?
First time here, it’s now home. Oh the question, to PLT or not PLT?! I’ll recommend to PLT but if you are interested in stretching your articles for 2 years, or are able to, then please consider that but do not take PLTs lightly.

Hi. I know you posted this video more than a year a year ago. I am starting PLT through Unisa and i was wondering if you can provide some insight into what self-assessments are like? I found this video really helpful so thank you for making it ❤

Thank you for this comment! So I also did my PLTs long distance through LEAD (unisa) the assessment are pretty much the same but is there anything specific you would like to know? Like how I tackled them or what they were like? If you are already doing them well done to you!

@@legaltalkwithshazzy when I wrote this comment I had not tackled them at all and I was very scared but now i have gotten over the nerves and tackled quite a bit of them already. It’s just the biggest issue is just getting through all the readings. Since I got over that hurdle Can you please share a bit on how the trial advocacy week went ?

Hi Shazzy, I am considering doing my PLT and I just wanted to know with Lead specifically, how are we expected to settle the fees? Can we pay in instalments until you finish with the course or you have to pay the full amount before commencing? I have sent an enquiry to ask this, still waiting for their response. Thank you.

Hi Bongiwe, So with me I was able to pay upfront but you can call them and find out hey. I spoke to Dorcas and she was the one assisting me. You could also speak to Phylis as well when you call to ask about Fees. Their numbers are +27 12 441 4662.
I have the interest of knowing that, since you were a paralegal did you study for it or not and if you did, was it a bridging course into the llb or not

Hey Thato, Yes I did study for my Paralegal qualification, I didn’t use it as a bridging course though but depending on the institution you go to you might be able to use it and get some modules exempted
Hi there Is there a way to bypass articles? I really don’t want to go down that route. 🤦♀️

Hi there Pearl 😀 Soooo if you want to be an Attorney you won’t be able to by pass articles 😅 it is a requirement. Buuuut if you want to work for an organisation as a legal advisor you can 😁

Hello there Thank you for your valuable insight. Just to verify, to be a Legal Advisor, ALL you need to do is complete your LLB Degree (which I completed in 2019). Due to other commitments and time constraints, I did not do PLT, serve articles or do the board exams. I was not sure if I needed to do all the above to be a Legal Advisor. A few years ago, I had sent emails to the Law Society and LPC to enquire about this, but no one has replied to my emails. Thank you 🙏

Hi Keneilwe, I did my PLTs through LEAD here is the link www.lssalead.org.za/course/attendance-school-for-legal-practice/ and I don’t know if UNISA does PLT training and as long as you have an LLB you can do the PLTs
Hey ✨ Did you have to do a moot for PLT?

Can you do your PLT on your first year before you do your articles
@legaltalkwithshazzy
Жыл бұрын
Hey so no you are required to have your LLB degree before you can start 🤍
Are you doing your articles and plt at the same time ?
@legaltalkwithshazzy
Жыл бұрын
So my articles started in November last year, I just hadn’t signed due to the rule about being a Director of a company and the rules say you can’t do that and be a CA without getting consent from the LPC. I am in the process of getting that sorted and then I can officially sign, but I have assumed the role and responsibilities of a candidate Attorney already. So the short answer is, technically yes 😂
