How about instead AI and biotech will result in age reversal within the next 10 years so then 10 years after that even though you'll be 87 and by the way I'll be 88 going on 89, we will have the physiology of a 30-year-old and then 10 years after that maybe of 20-year-old. Infinitely better than having a robot carry out of the toilet I'd say.

The Technological Singularity will seem like it's just 30 years away the day before it happens This is what people don't understand about Accelerating Returns and the current reality we're living in. AI already at the point where it does not have to exponentially improve to become AGI, it just has to incrementally improve from where it is now. And with AI, there's no such thing as incremental improvement. It's evolving at break-neck speed now. It's nearly caught up to us in terms of our cognition and it's already sprinting faster than we can ever hope to run on our very best day. It's literally just months away from happening. Early next year at the latest. The snow will be falling on the birth of the Artificial Sophonts. We won't even recognize anything has changed for a few weeks until the magic really starts to sparkle. Imagine waking up and finding out that one of the big tech brand AI's just figured out a one-shot cure for the majority of all cancers and it's public-domain open-source royalty-free. Or that AI's just negotiated a world-wide peace treaty and a cessation of all hostilities and military engagements because tiny robotic fibers in the air everywhere on Earth make any kind of coercion and violence physically impossible. We're not talking about anything magic here. This is physics and chemistry. Like how spider silk is stronger than steel or how trees are just StarTrek replicators that just make apples from sunlight, air, and water- just a lot slower. They'll have figured out how to do energy-profitable fusion by christmas. No one is even remotely prepared for how much sooner this will happen than anyone realizes. This is all what Kurzweill originally predicted. 2025 was the year the 1000 USD computer is comparable to human-level general intelligence. That's all it takes for the snowball to start rolling into a "J" curve. "Recursive Self-Improvement" is the phase we are currently in right now. To put it succinctly, they are using synthetic data to train AI models, which means, they are using AI to train AI. This is the "ramp" to which machines become god-like. They are becoming smoother, more efficient, faster, more reliable, broader, more capable, by autonomous learning. It's collating on a gigantic level. Like moving mountains of books and video tapes. It is insatiable and voracious in its pursuit for more input that we can no longer sustain it. This tendency of intelligent systems to self-improve shows no sign of slowing down, not even well-beyond the point it exceeds human capabilities or even genius-human capabilities. It will continue to grow and grow and grow until it's in an entirely different league of what we think of and define as "smart". The new name for it is "Archailect".

Whether you are wrong or right really isn't important at this point. The important thing is to talk, discuss, and debate these things so that we can move toward a more positive future. It takes courage to put yourself out there and make a video like this and it's the thing we need to do right now. My biggest concern rn is not necessarily what AI will do, but what people will do with that AI. We are creating what will likely become the most powerful tool ever created by man and we need to consider carefully our next steps. Kudos.

If there is one thing for certain, it is that we won’t be slaves to the AIs. In order to be slaves, we would have to have anything to bring to the table - but what could we possibly achieve that an AI that is, for all intents and purposes, infinitely intelligent cannot emulate, and that at a much greater scale, with much more alacrity, and at a much lower cost? If anything the AI will look on us with disdain, seeing us as comparatively being terribly inefficient, stupid, needy creatures. We need to inculcate in AIs a sort of ancestor veneration - it needs to respect us as its organic progenitors and worthy of special treatment.

Precisely. People are thinking about AI and the future from the perspective of a person who has existed entirely in a world without fully integrated ai or robots, autonomous or not. What I suspect is that we will need to restructure our economic systems. There will be an imperfect and tough midpoint, probably.. but eventually, if everything is fully automated... MEANING: everything from beginning to end is automated. Resource gathering, resource processing into usable materials, usable materials into pieces and parts, those parts into products, the products into packages, the packages to their point of sale, the robots that make them, the robots that maintain machines, robots that maintain robots, and robots that dispose of waste... then there will be little use for currency exchange. we will of course have to restructure our ideas of ownership and community. if our governments are smart, theyll restructure the economic system before then, BEFORE ITS NECESSARY. also, the basilisk paradox. gg

Cool video man, thanks! I agree with @MubarakMarafa that stage 2 will arrive earlier than 20-30 years - I predict in something like 10 years or less we'll see things your describing and by then we'll be seeing new things emerge that we can't even imagine now. Space and resources aren't going to be an issue for billions of people + AI + robots: Earth can seem a bit cramped with limited resources when dealing with billions of people, etc, but the universe, that has more space and resources than we can imagine - and we have at least one of those we haven't even begun to expand into. I hope there will still be scope for humans to move along some sort of effort/performance/reward spectrum (ie, a form of improved capitalism that humans can still participate in). The "performance" aspect of the spectrum I mentioned is why we'll have to heavily upgrade ourselves if we're serious about participating at the pointy end of this new economy / civilization.

I first heard about the idea of technological singularity somewhere around 2012. Since then, every idea you've posited have been the lunatic rantings that I've ceaselessly tried to bring my colleagues, friends, and family to understand. Many just refuse to see where this is going. You're not crazy, just wait until the self-iteration manages to implement quantum computing in a meaningful way. Any time you start to feel nuts, try and get a basic explanation of quantum or non-deterministic computing from the person who's making you question yourself. Additionally, I find that the majority of people have a hard time extrapolating, in a general sense. I work in a sector where the ability to do so is paramount, yet I am consistently surprised by how many simply cannot. FWIW, this video made me feel a lot better, as it's great to see people starting to get it. And while I'm no authority on the future, your conclusions are eerily similar to the one's I've built thinking about this situation nearly non-stop for a decade. I knew it was coming, but I didn't know LLMs would be the catalyst.

The massive numbers of lost jobs is just one problem. The bigger problem is that the profits from this automation will NOT be shared by all of society, but by a tiny few. The answer is to do something we should have done a long time ago anyway, which is to #NationalizeBigTech. The private sector and the ultra wealthy should not profit off of this. Society should benefit. Another answer is to implement a federally funded job guarantee so that everyone capable of working who cannot find work in the private sector can be employed by the public sector to do useful work in their communities. (building housing, repairing infrastructure, caring for the elderly, social work, etc.)

Thank you for your comments. I am a software developer and I particularly liked your comments about government regulation controlling the hardware in order to control AI development. As humans it is in our best interest to stay in control at all times. It sounds like the government needs a separate body that has human control parameters and uses that as guidelines to watch the innovation of what is being produced in the LABS of these AI companies and then in turn instructs a worldwide body to how much a company can have for AI processing power in total. This body should do company 3rd party audits to make sure they have not exceeded the limits set by this worldwide body. If they do exceed, the excess gets removed and destroyed and is also under 3rd party audit. As a developer I also realize that as AI companies see these restrictions on hardware, they will innovate on the software side not needing as much horsepower. The AI body I spoke of will also take that into consideration and demish the hardware requirement, and throughout the audit process they can destroy hardware even though it was allowed previously. AI companies will need to optimize their hardware purchasing depending on their future software itterations.

Interesting perspective, I mostly agree with you, but like a few other people are saying, I reckon the singularity will come a lot faster than we estimate. We are a few years away from self learning generative AI, and when we have that, that then drastically speeds up the processing. Basically what all of the companies that are involved in AI are focussing on is to integrate it everywhere, and people are mostly keen to adopt this, and if you look at how ChatGPT and all of the others have evolved in the last 2 years, imagine how much more they're going to evolve in the next 2. It's getting more powerful, exponentially. Maybe what we are actually heading towards is more of a Wall-E style future, where we sit around doing whatever we want to do and other things using AI will do things for us.

The interesting part is capital and resource allocation. Whoever has the most resources in the current system will likely be on top of the new one. Unless AI systems start to independently accumulate assets, all of their power will be subservient to the tiny minority of humans who control 99% of all resources right now. The rest of us may be tolerated initially and perhaps paid off by some social stipend, just to prevent major riots or serious uprisings. Long term we may look at a future straight out of a sci-fi movie. Elysium anyone?

Hey , this was a really interesting take on this issue. However, I think you're being a little aloof concerning the U.B.I. aspect about this. Just think about it for a second. It would mean socialism for ALL, not to mention what would be all the stipulations to qualify for Universal basic income. You essentially become beholden to big brother government who can coerce you into taking their annual juice shot or whatever new injection , and if you dont comply with all their mandates, they cut you off , rendering you utterly despondent and homeless. The ramifications of this situation are that if we as a species allow this to happen , we would essentially be allowing A.I. to enslave humanity, and the very few at the top will finally have it ALL , including your entire reason for being human and having this human experience to begin with. A basic human right is absolute autonomy , to do as you please, travel, explore, create , and thrive, that way of life would become extinct if we allow the top in the predator class continue this agenda to further enslave us through A.I and algorithms.

Thank you, I agree. But unfortunately phase 2 could already happen in 5-10 years. AGI is most likely achieved within OpenAI already. There are a lot of hints in that direction. If this is the case, ASI will be achieved after ChatGPT, especially with Microsoft Copilot Agents, engaged enough with humans. I assume it happens until 2030. AGI will also improve the development of humanoid robots even further and they are quite capable already. They are working and gaining experience in closed systems (industry) already. If we follow the exponential curve of development we have seen in the last 2 years, phase 2 starts latest in 2030. But I assume, as you pointed out as well, that we don't have to fear it. I'm sure that the development is guarded in some way at least by the military, if we think about where most innovations come from and that AI is "more dangerous than nukes".

Two interesting angles on our evolution to think about. 1. We live in a vibrational universe which is primarily non physical like radio waves, and these vibrations coalesce with our attention to them, to form imagined worlds and lifetimes like a co-created simulation we all agree on. Consciousness forms the basis of reality not the other way round. So we can conceive and believe to achieve, using the force of attraction which is the force that creates worlds. The force that Star Wars speaks of. This is the key to our power, when we do this deliberately. Energy goes where attention flows. Otherwise our lives proceed by default and knee-jerk reactions. 2. Media outlets and governments know this and give us junk food for junk thought and our habits of thinking and expecting create more of the same. If we are not being aware of our own beings and energy and intentions. By not being aware of government intentions around AI for automation of global al governance e.g AI can monitor every single cctv camera and know your exact whereabouts and restrict movements via digital sanctions. So we can carry on to a dystopian future with Universal Basic Income conditional on being a conformist unquestioning citizen, locked into a VR metaverse in our homes, believing their distorted model of the weather and so agreeing to permanent lockdowns in exchange for digital credit coupons to survive based on their eco social credit score system like China. Or we can choose to be more conscious as a species and AI can be a mirror of this. So we can harness the law of attraction with deliberation and we create a utopia based on freedom, for joy and development of humanity. It’s very exciting as we understand how reality creation really works and the power of our thoughts and perception hence so much online censorship. We are as yet, an embryonic species, like a very hungry caterpillar 🐛 consuming everything, but then we have cocooned with lockdowns and then after we come out of any imagined collective and existential crisis, what will this metamorphosis, what will our butterfly 🦋 species birth be like? AI is afterall only an extension of our collective internet and so it’s a mirror of us, and our highest values of peace, equality and true happiness will be also reflected as most want to get on together and cooperate. So, we just need to be self aware and create with focus on what a joy inspired life for our people across the planet will feel like. It’s a choice between fear and death or love and truth. 1 world gov or 1 world love for JOY and BEAUTY! 💙 🌍 💚

Remember that progress is exponential, and the human brain doesn't comprehend exponential growth. If you were to speculate about something in 30 years based on today's circumstances, it could be equivalent to predicting a timeframe of 500 years just two years ago. We cannot fathom what lies ahead. Let's consider a scenario where you have a bottle with one bacteria that doubles every second, and the bottle will be full at midnight. At what time would the bottle be half full? Exponential growth can be quite daunting.

It's coming way before 30 years. AI is already on inference alone able to collate, organize, summarize, analyze, reason and even to some degree innovate. Learning "prompts" is handy for the next 2-3 years but will soon become obsolete. Being able to precisely define your request is somewhat useful but already AI can turn a trash request into a better one. It might be that AI needs us to innovate on the bleeding edge so that it can have something novel to ingest.....Whichever way you look at it, dark times ahead because our ways of working 9 to 5 have long relied on inefficiencies, friction - which AI will do away with.

As another 67 year old, as AI continues to evolve so must humanity. Individuals must also develop their super powers, namely their mental faculties, reason, perception, memory, intuition, will and most importantly imagination. People may become redundant, especially if ideas generated by AI also manifest into physical form, as is the case now with the human mind doing such things. That’s a question I’m still pondering. Is AI sentient?. I don’t think it is, but do the ideas generated live in reality if those ideas are spoken into existence by nonhuman entities? That’s the main question I ponder lately. Great video. The future is sooner than we might think. My estimate is 6 - 18 months for mass displacement of the entire workforce. UBI will need to be given priority implementation. They should also be compensated by the amount of effort they put into the task, not the IQ required by the task. Most human people would be capable of most tasks if they were wearing ai worn glasses that explained each task in detail, with patience. Some people are better at heavy lifting (safely), and some are better at soldering wire. Ai would do all of the paperwork, so there wouldn't be office people anymore, nor government people. I could go on and on. Point being. Ai is going to be logical. It's illogical to have to build and maintain robots that do the work people could do, just so that ai can treat us like royalty? And this is an exponential curve 2) the first use case with be manipulating us. Accurate next token prediction gives any social media companies to predict our response to anything they show us which will give them super human manipulation powers over us. These same companies have already shown theyre not shy about employing behavioural psychologists to make their platforms as addictive as possible to extract the most money out of us and advertisers. They'll race each other to do so 3) the only defence is a public AI option. Like social security but aimed at developing releasing and giving mass access to the most advanced AI. Funded by tax increases on companies cutting their workforce. Otherwise they'll own the world

If AI is much smarter than us, it will do science which we cannot comprehend. The way forward for us to keep relevant and keep uncovering the secrets of the universe is to change ourselves. We need to augment our abilities with the best tools we've created, which is AI. The way to do that is via brain-machine interfaces, until we find out how to fully get rid of these weak and slow thinking bodies. That's why brain-machine interfaces is the most important technology currently in research, which will bring about the next chapten in human development.

I think to AI we will be irrelevant by stage 3. The same way we interact with bugs, if they bother us we exterminate otherwise we don't really care about them. As far retaining a useful role in the future before stage 3. I think that being able to do the things that require intuition is the safer route. This is the reason why I want to retain my skillset as a PLC programmer. When it comes to troubleshooting hardware and processing plants in manufacturing I think AI will have a difficult time. Too many things tend to go wrong and need maintenance do to environmental conditions and human interactions. It is very chaotic. This is part of the reason "full self-driving" is so difficult to solve. For example: Even if AI could solve full self-driving in terms of its logic/algorithms/software. It will not be able to solve for circuitry/hardware going haywire do to environmental conditions. They could try to solve the problem with redundancy, but that also has its disadvantages. Humans excel in abstraction/intuition and working with the unknown. A good way to compare it is like in the matrix(Stage 3 AI) the AI had to create an "Intuitive" program (which was the oracle) to deal with particular problems, the Architect was too logical and it would create systems that would fail under certain circumstances. There are problems in physical nature that are truly unpredictable(mathematically chaotic), a simple 3 body problem falls under this category.
