Daniel She’s very pale, most likely came from parts of Colombia where population is very European ancestry based before she came to the UK, so she doesn’t know much of her country apart from her area or region.

Daniel That assumption I made is one the best and logical, if she stated that everyone in her country looks like same, then yeah, she doesn’t know much about her country making that statement.

I’ve only watched a few minutes of this and I’m already bothered by the fact she said in “Colombia, we all look the same, wear the same things, speak the same”. I don’t know what Colombia she’s from, because in the Colombia I am from we have multiple accents, slangs, skin colours, looks and so on. She’s making it sound as if our population is purely one race, one identity, one thing, when we are pretty diverse ..

In my experience (I am 46) people in England these days no longer cook or bake properly. The sheer deluge of fast food takeaway places on every single high street is alarming, and most of them deliver to peoples homes. When I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, it was a shameful thing for someone to admit they ate takeaways on a regular basis. However now people openly boast about their laziness, obesity and lack of desire to uphold centuries of culture and family heritage etc. I grew up with a very skilled mother who cooked and baked with a passion, and had great concern for nutrition and what she fed us all with. I am one of the lucky ones, because children since the 1980s have only known bad food made by someone else in a factory, instead of from their own supposedly loving mother. Sad times.....

EgoShredder : Women go out to work these days. They often work long hours, so takeaways and instant meals are a lifeline to them, especially if they have young children. Men do do a lot more around the house than they used to, but that is a necessity in these changing times. I am not saying this is a good thing, but just the way things are.

Really emotional documentary, congrats girl for having the courage to fight for what u wanted, I just wish you'll find happiness there. I actually lived for 7 years in London and also did a BA in business management. It's a really nice country indeed I also felt in love with this country, I'm from west Africa Senegal by the way, but for some reasons I overstayed my visa and got finally removed from the country back to Africa more than a year now ,leaving leaving my wife down there. It's been really challenging for me and my wife, but we keep on fighting booming that one day we'll be together again. I got a good and clean records: always working and paying my taxes never took benefits never abuse the system... just wanted to share this after watching this film. Best of luck to you and thanks for making this film

Fascinating documentary. Very well made and edited. Those questions are the equivalent of GCSE history at school. The problem with learning British history is that there so much of it. It is a huge subject. But knowing it and feeling it are two different things. You still feel Colombian. What does being British mean? It means you are willing to explore new ideas and break from the past. Bring your Colombian culture but be prepared to adjust it to fit this island of the north.

The reason it is a requirement to take a country's history knowledge test is to preserve national identity. Humans flock to places in this world where they can live better. And if we just move around freely without documents or knowledge requirements, this world would become homogeneous, and national treasures would fade away through immigration. Moving to another country and experiencing new culture is a GIFT of this world. What people need to stop doing, is moving to another country, disregarding the customs and traditions, and language, and demand their own traditions. I think it's a GREAT idea to test immigrants on local history, and there should be certain level of difficulty to become a citizen. This is how the governments show pride and protect their heritage and honor the sacrifices their forefathers have made. Asi tendría que ser en todos los países del mundo, desde el mas rico, al mas pobre. Un país es un país, y los patriotas somos orgullosos de nuestras tradiciones, y las queremos preservar. Compartir cultura, pero preservarla...

Layla Hassan I need to ask you, where is your last name from? And are you ok with people coming in from all over the world and disrespecting your National heritage and customs just out of convenience? If you had any pride in your heritage and what your forefathers did to protect your own identity, you wouldn't be saying the shit that you do. I am an American, and also an Argentinian, but i do respect religion and traditions in every country that I travel to, and for that, people love me. I am a Catholic, and I love people from all other religions, as long as they let others live peacefully regardless of their beliefs, or race, or color, or descendance. If you want others to respect your people and your culture, then you must respect others too. Only then will there be peace in the world. If you disagree, then I invite you to challenge me. You will lose.

Saara - Brit in the Bay Area In Scandinavia & Germany you'll find Turkish migrants & "refugees" living 20 - 50 years & still unable to communicate on the language of the country they have chosen to live in. Guess who is to pay for extra translation & special treatment because of their stupid religion, when no one from their ghetto family is around & they find them self old & completely isolated in culture they have no clue of or ability to connect with. Splendid "evening of life"..? Who's to blame? Never themselves, they play victimised, supported by stupid lefties & public money their entire life..

I lived in Brighton a year and four months. London six months and York for 3 months. York was best (my opinion) followed by Brighton. Learned a great deal about culture. Unfortunately Uk's not for me. I returned to the States (Coastal N. Carolina) and re-evaluated my need for ever leaving again. Some people have wanderlust, some think the grass is greener on the otherside of the hill, while others are running away. I was in search of myelf and my heritage. I'm English, both sides of my family are English from old blue blood English families. I should have fit in like a glove but couldn't make it work. Things in England are so small, yes, "little" small flats, thin roads, no large parks, no lonely roads. Just miles and miles of people. Guess I need to be where I'm at.

You have to pay for everything while everything is expensive. The weather is shit all year round and ur basically just a rat for the bastards at the top who murder the disabled and lie to cover themselves. I wish i can just up and leave to somewhere like Carolina but im forced to stay here.

I don't understand this attitude of entitlement ? She states that she should be able to settle anywhere she chooses. No, you shouldn't. And nor should I choose where I want to go. If I'm accepted, fine. If not, I remain where I am or try somewhere else. There seems to be a sense of if you want it you should have it. It's indulgent, selfish and lacks any sense of respect and understanding of other people, their cultures, laws and societal requirements.

+CardiffBoy1927 Yep, we go through the same thing in the USA since Lyndon Johnson and Teddy Kennedy opened up our borders 51 years ago. People that move here and gain citizenship but still talk trash about America. If America is that bad, why'd you leave Mexico? It's poor and corrupt? Really? Yet you still bitch and moan about America. Then when we want to deport them, they talk about splitting up families. Nope, your family split up your OWN family when part of the family moved here. It doesn't mean that you get to come here illegally and claim we are the ones splitting up families when illegals are deported. It's all a voter importation program for leftists. They are working overtime to grant citizenship to as many as possible to get them in ahead of the deadline to register to vote for the November 2016 election.

I have seen many British that go to live in Spain or North Americans that go to live in the UK so is kind of the same situation. And of course you have to be accepted, I respect the culture, rules, people and laws. As you can see on the film I was surround by British lovely people who care about me and love me. I did integrate with the culture long time ago :) thank for your comments!

Tatiana Giraldo - Well, if your opinion follows, logic dictates that most people will want to go to the most modern, civilised countries. What if 100 million people want to move to UK ? You think that's acceptable, and if so, where do they live, what work do they do, how will the social institutions cope with such numbers ? Your opinion is naieve and plain stupid.

How do you preserve a nations culture? No one seems to find this relevant at all. I think is a lack of respect for culture. People seem so entitled to want to live in another country, with disregard for it's culture. How does a culture not become diluted with foreign cultures? Multiculturalism is a great thing but what happens to the parent culture of a country when it becomes predominantly occupied by several other cultures. I think people should want to take part in these basic tests, they should not be so selfish as to just see another country as being there rightful place without regard for it's history.

The questions are very basic general culture, even easier when you can chose the right answer out of three questions. Learning the language and culture is a minimal sign of respect towards the country whose citizen you intend to be. Of course same has to apply for the British living in Spain for example.

This would not only give you an opportunity to express your nationalistic culture in the UK but also give other international students the encouragement and advice they may require to take the "test"? Natural born citizens have the privilege of not learning their history and still a lot of them greedily demand for more things and not appreciate what they have. foreign kids have to struggle to assimilate into the country while natural born kid only tease the foreign kid and discriminate against them. Culture is something that can change , but it is important to know what the roots are. With out knowing who influenced or created the culture it will be lost. The UK has had such a large role in the culture of the world it should be proud . Personally if I were to relocate to another country I would Want to know the Culture / History , it only seems right.

That is a very negative stereotype, Colombia is much more than drugs and narcos. But I should admit that negative things have long wings, and It is quite easy to judge from ignorance. >.

Adapted You are an ignorant! No single European country was raised by migrants. They are primarily used by the industry dumping wages & expensive labour safety.. Afterwards they are either left to own faith or living on social security on the expenses of the society = taxpayers money. Own workforce is forced either down this line or out of production on the expenses of common good = taxpayers money. Industrial profit is often taken to tax evasion. We have some 200.000 unemployed & weirdly same number of Polish people are occupied by our greedy farmers.. Same goes for industry, they push out older people & hire cheap east European. Their lower quality is earned by lower expenses. Construction industry is flooded this way & working accidents has skyrocket. Who pay for these inabled, sick migrants? Public money = taxpayers money. All this along with thousands of incapable muslims drain national cash by ~40 billions, which leads to cutting ordinary welfare for the generation who created this whole welfare society by their lifelong input, often with physical issues from their demanding or dangerous work.. Education & health care is cut down as well.! Spoiled kids often ignore these facts, while they still haven't experienced sudden sickness or equal major impacts on their lives. Money isn't fetched from the trees..

Adapted Why should ordinary people pay the price for elitism in their society? If UK is failing skilled labour, who is deciding which solution is chosen? Who's influencing educational system? Not the people excluded by imported workforce.. How many unemployed British are kept on meager income? I see this pandering to the lowest common denominator, with only one class as winner.. Importing qualified or skilled migrants from third world deprives a population their needed knowledge & services. On one hand we have a society with growing automation, where is that workforce going? If they aren't there in the first place, because of falling birth rates.. So what? I have experienced a few hypes & often found that political interest is behind. Not necessarily factual reasons or alternative solutions ignored. Example: News told of lacking workforce as a major trouble. I contacted different larger towns with specialised industries in given area.. No one knew about available positions.. Political spin

Adapted : Unfortunately, even immigrants with high level skills, often bring dependent family members with them, that negate any benefits the original immigrant may bring. Elderly parents, even if financialy supported by other family members, will be entitled to public health care, and children, are entitled to government funded schools.

People make things complicated, we don't have to be mad if other people want to live in the place we live, we all live on Earth, we all are humans and we should be nice to each other, because we all are the same; and I agree with the fact that we should be wherever we want to live. I loved your documental, it's beautiful and nice, I come from Mexico, and one day I'll live in UK, just like you. :)
