Zee is the best at teaching how the games are played!

Fascinated to see the BGG FAQ page, several folks asking the same two questions. Would be nice to get some rules clarifications from the designers.

Love Rulebooks that are the size of the box. Maximize area to minimize pages so they are thinner and fit on top of the insert, or at the bottom if there is no insert.

I think this is a kingdomino for people that want a step up. I agree with Zee

Very interesting review. Seems like the rule book could have used some work. As a family hobby gamer I think this would be something I would pick up next time I see it at Target.

I think it was only sold online. Or it was when I looked at it after seeing an internet article about a month ago that was the case.

I enjoyed your review, it was pretty in-depth and hit on a lot of the rulebook issues that I also encountered. I was however disappointed that you didn't make a single mention of the section of the rulebook that covers creating your own cards. This a whole new wrinkle to playing the game where you can play it however you want, making your own rules for the buildings.

? Tons of games have included blank cards. This isn't anything really new, and most people I have talked to don't use them.

Those may be facts, but you still didn't mention it in the review. It's another way to play the game.

Mike: "This one was a little bit tough for me because I had to kind of wrestle with myself..." A solo player in all matter of game!

For me the kingdomino similarity was the joining terrain types and ending up with a square unlike something like Carcassonne

I'll have to play it someday, but nothing in this review makes me want to buy it. Kind of waiting all these years for the next Lang design since he left CMON and this just wasn't something I was excited for.

It's just that he explores a field that I have no interest in (light familiy weight games) this time. I love his thematic beasts, but I can imagine he wants to navigate other waters, too.

I am not a fan of kingdomino but I quite enjoyed my play of this.

Screw your neighbor aspect with junk catapult is annoying feature. The setting is communities rebuilding after civilization collapse. Why are you actively sabotaging each other? I know they wanted to create some level of player interaction in the game, but just plopping in a screw your neighbor aspect is the least creative lazy way to create player interaction.

You can omit those cards if you don't like them, i think they wanted the option there for people who enjoy that style of game, and others can just use a different set of cards.

I would use this as a way to talk to my kids about cooperation vs. trying to get ahead at the expense of others in rebuilding. I haven't played it, but if it also includes multipliers for cooperation amongst parties and if you could see excesses move around the table that would be neat but that may be too complicated.

I don't think recovering after a collapse of civilization precludes really annoying neighbors ... being the species that humans are. 😉

please remove the through the desert box in the background and replace it with something else. i've wanted that game ever since i heard of a reprint coming up. it's still not available yet in my end of the world, and seeing it in every dice tower video is like it's taunting and torturing me..
