Cambodia is NOT the cheapest in the world. Pakistan & India are less expensive + some others in that part of the world -- You should do better homework. -- ( The Philippines offers affordability 'ranges' - depending on location meaning a variety for any budget & nearly everyone speaks English! ) -- Siem Reap offers a cheaper cost of living than the capital PP. Perhaps 30% less. - - - I been searching the world for 2 or 3 years looking !!! > The over 55 '''retirement visa''' Cambodia offers - is the best I have seen anywhere !!! Fantastic value. ---- '''If''' > you can handle the unbearable heat in the summer.......

Except to pay $1500 a month for a nice life including health insurance. But of course this depends on what you think comfort is, you could get by on under $1000 but it would not be a lovely life. Smaller towns are cheaper. Best thing you can do is go on a holiday and plan to see more that the main cities. Travel around at a 3 or 4 day stay in each place what you like and what you can live with.

I have been to Cambodia three times and the place is safe depending on where you are going.I found some Tuk Tuk drivers are trying to cheat the tourists to make some quick bucks. Some Restaurants as well. Please check the money when you receive the changes before you leave. Some time they try to give you very old notes you cannot even change at the major banks. The tourist attractions places are okay but be careful. When you reach the New Siem Reap International Airport. The Taxi fares are around $40 to the city but if you can wait for a couple of hours you can get a Shuttle bus from the Air Port to the city for $ 8.00.You can save the rest $ 32 and use to visit some other places like Kulan Mountain etc.I do have some good friends from Siem Reap and Phnom Penh and they are helpful and friendly. This is my personal opinion.

I went there for a vacation last year. U just stay at the hostel in Siem Reap. It costs about 2 USD a day. People are friendly but not many people as speak English. USD is widely used and accepted. It is generally safe but of course if u are a woman, always watch out at night wherever u are. I am a guy so I am not afraid. I walk everywhere even late at night. For me as a student, I prefer the hostel because it is affordable and u can make friends with people from all over the world. But it is up to u.

Cambodia has a low of living. If it is expensive, it depends on food or items that are premium and high class. There is apartment costing 350$ per month and it's comfortable living if you don't prefer high demand for your daily living. But it's also costing 500, 700, ...or up to thousand dollars for high class apartment. So everything in Cambodia is costing depending on what you demand😊

Well it is always on depends what do you want. Street food is not expensive, but not as good as in Thailand, and the hygiene is also a good question ... Western food can be expensive, but who can not consume the local food, i guess should live in a country where the preferred food is the "default" ... Telling this as i've been living abroad for 14 years now, 10 years in Thailand, visited Cambodia several times, and currently living in Laos.

@@GoldenJourneyTV I’ve lived for 14 years in this region & the last 3 years in Cambodia. The only things cheap are beer, cigarettes, street food & rent in the smaller locations. However….Phnom Penh rent is usually Double or more than what you’ll pay in Siem Reap & Kampot . As for groceries….if it’s imported it will be MORE expensive than the same item in western countries. Electricity is USD 25 cents ++ per kilowatt. And with AC essential that can be pricey each month. Thailand & Vietnam are cheaper IMHO. Also,,,if you like a beach lifestyle, forget Cambodia. Unless you go to the outer Islands , the mainland coast is garbage.
