Mate, the rent is way too much, you pay. You can find in the middle of the city for 500 bucks.

I live in Budapest for 10 years and always find some new cultural or historical experience.

I just returned from Budapest after a short visit. It’s a wonderful under the radar city. Clean, safe, beautiful architecture and lovely people. I’m a dog lover and so is this city which is another plus for me. I would definitely visit again for a longer stay

I live one hour drive from Budapest, and yes its perfect for someone who works remotely even if one only speaks english. Same goes for Prague, two beautiful historical cities with moderate prices and excellent transportation. And you can get lower rent price if you go for normal rent not airBnB.

I am so glad you like it here. I'm a native, having lived here for 61 years. Although Budapest is extremely safe compared to other cities, there are scammers, there is pickpocketing, burglary, mugging, prostitution, drugs and even the odd murder. Just be careful. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Susan and I spent 3 months in Budapest 4 years ago and are currently living for the remainder of 2 months here just off of Andrassy. We are investigating purchasing an apartment to rent out (1 week minimums) and spending time, with family from the states here. The language is a ...difficulty. I'm trying to learn "please, thank you, sorry and "I only speak English."

Sounds like a great plan. Yes, Hungarian is one tough language to learn and I wouldn't look down on you if you decided not to go ahead. Best to take it bit by bit. Learn some simple phrases you can use several times throughout the day. GIve yourself time. All the best.

Oh I hear you man. I'm a Hungarian living in Michigan right now. What a bad place !!! Honestly living in Mexico was 100% better experience compared to the US. But Budapest is really nice experience :)

Hello..What insurance can i apply for as a digital nomad in hungary?

I'm planning to go from Colombia to Central Europe at the end of August, and Budapest is totally on my go-to list. However, I would like to be able to spend more than the 90 days schengen limitation, but it seems the only alternatives once it runs out, are either to spend the rest of the time in any nearby non-shengen country such as Croatia, Serbia or Romania, or to aquire the new Hungarian "Digital Nomad" Visa. Do you have any suggestions about it? In case you're able to get a visa, does it "freeze" the 90day schengen timer while on your stay in Hungary, or would I still eventually be banned to enter any other EU country after the 3 months pass by, even by staying the whole time in Hungary on my DN visa.

Your stay in places like Romania or Serbia doesn't count towards your 90 day within 180 day limit. Like you pointed out, Romania is not part of Schengen so you get 90 days to stay in Romania and then you could revert back to a Schengen country for another 90 days.

Someone is earning a fortune on you...It's way too expensive. Even if you can afford it, don't pay it. It's destroying the prices for others who are not "elite" as you call yourself. Don't compare it to US prices. You could easily live for a 1/3 of that price. For the money you eat daily you could eat in Berlin too. Just go and look for Hungarian eateries. You can eat well for a half.

I've mainly been eating in downtown Budapest - so yes, prices are for sure higher than for someone who lives in a cheaper neighborhood. I spent roughly $400 a month on food but I eat out a lot and I eat quality food when I eat out. I tried some local Hungarian restaurants, some were good but also not so cheap. I ate at some that were cheaper but the quality of the meat wasn't that great. Probably a matter of trying more local restaurants and finding some that are good. I don't think $10 - $15 per day is a lot if you eat out. I spent roughly the same for groceries and food in Asia.

@@NomadElite $400 a month over there is insane....i spend half that living in Melbourne, one of the most expensive places in the world. Then again, i pay $1200 a week rent....That airbnb looks like it's worth no more than $600 a month, though.

On the Digital Nomad they are asking for proof of accommodation - but how can I pay for a rental if I don't have guarantee of visa to stay ?

You need to determine how many weeks or month you have to reserve an accommodation to get the visa. You could reserve a place that allows you to pay upon check-in, assuming you can cancel up to 1 day before arrival. That's what I'd do.

I want to move to budapest after I geta remote job which I'm in a certification program for data science, but I was wondering in hungarian rental cites do they speak English to their clients?

How was finding a pet friendly apartment? I'm applying for the White Card, but trying to find a legitimate flat (since I only speak English and some German), is proving to be a little difficult. Any websites you recommend?

It's been a long time since I was in Budapest. Plenty of pet friendly options available, just not in the luxury department.

Met someone who was living and working in Budapest for about a year, and he said the locals are very rude. Mentioned that to a Taxi driver and he smirked a little.............

Not sure about the current entry requirements. I left Hungary months ago. Nothing was needed back then but depends on the port of departure.

I returned yesterday and we were not asked for it while there or upon entering. However we needed at our connecting flight country of Switzerland

So what? I'm a resident of Texas. Do you have a problem with that? How many languages are you fluent in to make you entitled enough to judge people based on their accent? You're a stereotype American - a very special group that has gotten a bad reputation globally. Please leave your entitlement and bullying in the US before you ever decide to move to a different continent. And learn some more languages before you judge other people. It's usually the ones that don't speak foreign languages who judge people bsaed on their accent. It's really disgusting behavior to be honest.
