Your going deep Josh. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift & that's why it's called the present.❤

Hey Josh, I'm 77 in about 3 days time. Brought up in town. Allegedly according to my old man, I made up my mind at age 6 that I was going to be a farmer. Not sure how a young pup of 6 can make a rational decision like that, without the background. But I did. Through most of my teens I had wanted to work on a high country station. Preferably either Molesworth, when Bill Chisholm was managing, or Mt White when Peter Newton was managing. I finished up on a hill country property in the south island. However mate, I believe that things do happen for a reason. Like two deaths in 3 years on the last farm I share milked. Heart and a drowning. My son would be 45 now. Yeah sxxt happens. I've moved on. . Thanks mate for the deep talk. Much appreciated. Cheers.

As a kid of the 80s I never had a fear of the future. I couldn’t wait to get older. Watching the kids of today, they are absolutely petrified of the future

Legend Josh, still listening to you and still going well. The best therapy these days is about enjoying the moment and looking forward. Past trauma is past trauma and we can't change it, only look back enough to realise your mistakes and then onwards and upwards.

Doing the same thing everyday and expecting a different outcome will not take you anywhere. Knowledge is key, keep learning and upskilling will take you new places. This can be formal or informal courses but just keep learning and be open to new experiences. It’s about putting yourself in a position to achieve your goals so when that door opens you’re ready to jump on it. Nice advice Josh!

An interesting book out there is one called "Die with zero". The crux of the book is in a similar vein to your thoughts here. It gets people to stop following the historical mantra of earn more and more wealth so you can live a well off retirement...only to find you have pissed life away in the process. Young people don't realise that their fit healthy body is only with them for a small amout of their life on earth. Ya have to get out there and experience it as much as you can while you can...cause there's no going back.... Only forward : -)

I think the recipe changes because the environment has changed with time. I grew up in Generation X raised by Boomers and the times have changed being less conservative . The role for alpha males in family and society settings have changed due to progression and technology where the beta & omega males seem to fit in a little easier

Shit always happens for a reason you can think and learn from what happened or not now a lot comes down to learning and thinking about what went wrong last time to make sure you don’t forget to put in place the plan but at the end of the day shit happens just don’t forget to plan for shit hitting the fan

Book by Colin Mortlock - spirit of adventure. About values and a reflection. Worth a read. Also like the metaphor of True North, the direction you want to go in and that aligns with your values, magnetic north is pulling you from your true direction (maybe your habits, or the people you hang with).
