My son underwent a double lung transplant he’s 59 with the same disease you had and they didn’t think he was going to make it or they were going to get a set of lungs in time but by the grace of God it did happen and now he’s working again and with his family

I have just been told I need a lung transplant 😢 I have been very concerned because they have told me lung transplant patients only live for 5 years. I’m not sure if I should have this done.

I remember watching your story in the St. Joe’s Facebook group. My father was getting listed as you were being transplanted. Watching your recovery gave us so much hope. My father was much sicker than you at the time of his transplant, and his recovery was much longer and he spent 7 months post op at St. Joes. Still, I watched you regain your life and prayed he would some day have the same luck. He is now 2 years post op and doing amazing. Dr. Tokeman is a next level human, honestly the most amazing person I’ve ever met. The staff at St. Joe’s is top notch. I’m so happy to hear your story and know that you are doing so well.

I had my lung TP at St' Joes too. 5-16-2016 over six years ago. I was also an I deal patient until a little over a year ago developing Kidney failure. I'm fighting to get on the list for a kidney transplant now, but just got slowed by covid. I really enjoyed your story and only cried twice. I wish Mike all the best and feel a brother hood towards him now. To bad he does come to clinic as I do at the facility.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. My 15 yr old daughter has had pulmonary arterial hypertension for 7 years and listed for transplant about 4 months ago here in the UK at a top children’s hospital here in London. We got the call this past Saturday night and were ambulanced into London. After much waiting and tests, the donor lungs were deemed unsuitable so it’s comforting to know other people go through this dry run. Meanwhile we wait but we are thankful to the Lord for sustaining our precious girl and for the support we are receiving. It is TOUGH but we trust that we will be given grace as we need it. Bless you for your sharing of your story.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am currently in the hospital awaiting transplant. Also on 15L on exertion. Our stories are somewhat similar and we are also of a similar age. You give me so much hope! I watch this every couple of days. Extremely motivating. Am doing everything I can to keep myself in good as physical condition as possible. Am also lucky that I have a great support system in husband, children, extended family and friends. I can only hope that I am as lucky as you. Wishing you continued good health and many happy years with your family.

Mike, keep going STRONG. I too just had Lung Transplant 5/5/2022 UPMC Pittsburgh Pa. Like you, my transplant team, Pre and post surgery, Very Special People. THE BEST!!! All of friends and family, that sent Prayers are a Great source of strength. My wife, the only thing I can say is LOVE, the kind you promise on your wedding day. Not lost in all of this, is the family that made a very caring decision. Not a day that I don’t think about my DONOR, unknown to me but now a part of me. Fair winds and following seas. Chris

Mike, your story resonated with me; I appreciate everything you went through, brother. My first double transplant anniversary was on 1/31/23. I haven't done a Ted Talk, but I did post about my journey on my channel. Congratulations on the warrior mentality. Never give up the fight. God bless you.

My son needs a transplant and so far he's been turned down by 3 transplant centers (Vanderbilt University, Mayo Clinic, and the University of Alabama). He was turned down due to his esophagus not working as it should. I am reaching out to everyone and doing everything I can as his mother that wants to save her son. I am still trying to reach out to any and everyone. I am praying that one day my son will be able to tell his story of a successful transplant. If anyone knows anything I should do that I haven't done, please please let me know. Thank you!!

I am 50 years old and have stage 4 COPD and am contemplating a lung transplant and I have to say this video helps to soften the fear. Not ashamed to admit I bawled through most of it.

I've been diagnosed with PF . But it weird it says evidence of PF so I don't know. I just hope they aren't 100 percent right.

You're lucky, my father had IPF, he died 2 months ago at the age of 70.. He was on oxygen for a year and a half.. He didn't even have the right to medicine or transplantation, he didn't even have a doctor in Europe and the country of the European Union, Croatia

My father passed from ipf in October. The disease progressed too far for him to get a transplant. My life is forever lacking because of his absence. But I have learned that lung transplants are the most dangerous organ to transplant so it may not have even helped. I miss him every millisecond of everyday...

I'm so sorry to hear that about your Father. IPF can be quick or in my case progresses in stages. When I finally got my lung, my lung function was down under 25% May your Father RIP

It's the most Dangerous because of all the organs that transplant, the Lungs are the Only one exposed to outside Contaminants. All other transplantable organs are sealed inside the body.
