You should watch the sailing Brothers they are really good

I always dreamed of sailing the seas as a kid. At this point in my life I know that dream is not likely to come true. Watching your videos kind of takes me out there in a way. They are very well done and I look forward to the next after each one. Keep up the good work Joe!

I’m like you my friend,I wish my life took a different course and I would’ve followed this life at sea. My father was in the Merchant Marines during WWII and he cherished every moment.

I'm glad I was a captain for 25 yrs

I follow a lot of KZreadrs, but there are only few whose videos I watch as soon as they're uploaded. Your channel has quickly become one of those. I love following your adventures on the high seas.

Well them days is long gone but I did put in a many hours bunkering started off at the ports eventually ended up getting on ships and Tugs & barges offloading anywhere from asphalt jet fuel diesel for the Navy and bunkering some cargo ships as well as tankers offloading discharging their tanks to oil companies at the same time fueling the ship many hours I can still smell that bunker back in the '80s a lot of your foreign ships wasn't that clean They would send hoses back down to you without blanks on them therefore it would let some drip in the water nowadays it would be fine by the Coast guard back then they got away with it no when we were hooking lines and risers it wasn't that many people two to three well if you had somebody working the boom knew what they were doing four and six inch lines weren't that hard but appreciate your video brought back many memories when I started off at a Port Everglades company was Belcher oil which then turned into coastal oil I don't know what they are now but I went from being a doc hand to a deck hand on a tug working myself all the way up in the wheelhouse to a captain have safe travels good memories 💪🏻⚓🛳️🦺🔧⛓️👊

@ 7:21 I'm part of the fabrication process of that type of heavy structural steel you see on the left side of the screen. I work at a small (50 people, family owned, union) steel yard in Massachusetts where we do a lot of Navy stuff. We also produce large drive train components to include our current job for a future aircraft carrier. Cool stuff. Really like the vids. Thx.

Some of the best times of my young adult life was at sea. I sailed on shell VLCCs plying between Europe, the Gulf and Far East, Singapore, Japan etc….Six month on, one month off, then a new ship, sometimes reacquainted with crew you had sailed with before…I had a great time, great memories of over fifties years ago…..

What an interesting and exotic series of ports for this contract. Enjoyed the video and your music choices.

Watching those waves crashing up and over the deck of a fully loaded ship is awesome. Thanks for catching those images. I've been in 25 foot waves once on an older Holland America ship, heading between the boot of Sicily and the mainland and your video shows me what it probably looked like outside. I know the wind was so strong we could not stand in the front passenger area unless we held on with both hands (they eventually closed all the outdoor areas). One third of the crew never made it to the dinner service that evening they were so sick from the rocking, and neither did half the passengers.

Another great video Joe. Sailed on a bulker similar to the one you are on. Main cargo was logs from Vancouver island to the Australian coast. Sometimes to Japan. Japan was amazing. Plenty ports ,tons of time ashore. It's no wonder I went home skint lol. If you google MV Harfleur images,there's a few pics of her.

It was cool when I realised you were dropping off aggregates at Ascension for the runway reconstruction. Not involved but wondered where all the aggregate came from, Canada, of course!

You could do a quick hitch on a tall ship easy. Be careful though you might love it

Greetings Joe, I recently discovered your channel. I like how you manage not to roll when you hit the rack. The USN cruiser I was on back in 68, 69 & 70, had canvas racks that had an aluminum frame with a thin mattress that sat on top of the canvas. No matter how tight you tied the canvas to the aluminum frame, when you climbed into your bunk you still sagged into the center of the bunk. In port that wasn’t too bad but at sea it was a real pain in the butt trying to keep from rolling around. The trick was, when you took on stores you tried to grab a piece of plywood shipping crate. You would then try to finagle this plywood below decks to the damage control (DC) shop to have them cut it to the size of your rack. The other trick was to have enough plywood for someone in the DC shop to use for their own bunk. Now you had a nice firm support for your mattress. The trick then was to lay on your stomach with your feet spread and arms spread so your body wouldn’t roll in rough seas. I loved climbing the masts to rig dress ship lights, heights never bothered me. Being an Electrician’s Mate I would always volunteer to climb the masts and take my camera with me to get photos of the ports we were in. I am really enjoying your videos. I’m from PA, Philly originally now in Chester County. Take care and stay safe.
