Life at -23 | Alaska Homestead in Winter 🌲❄️
Explore a typical day in our Alaskan homestead during the winter in our new video! We start the day by making a cozy cup of coffee, setting the mood for a day full of homestead adventures.
Watch as we gather water for our chickens and give them yummy feed and fresh bedding. It's a short walk from our storage to the chicken coop, with beautiful snowy scenery all around.
Join us as we pump water from the well into our house. This involves setting up hoses and a generator, and once we're done, we carefully put everything away.
As the day winds down, we stoke the fire to keep warm. To end the video on a beautiful note, enjoy a time-lapse of the sun setting over our winter homestead.
Come along with us to experience the rhythm of life in the Last Frontier, with its challenges and beauty in winter living.

I love watching alaska homesteaders. I just don't think I could handle the cold and dark winters. Everyone that does it is strong and amazing!
Great video

Amy has way too much fun 😅
Have you ever thought of recycling your chicken feed bags in stead of burning them? I use them to cover the inside of my coop. It helps with a second barrier against wind and cold. Took me four years but the inside is covered and it looks funny to see all the different bags I have bought from feed to sunflower seed to cracker corn.

where do you think they recycle them so they are in the middle of nowhere think about it they would need room to save all the bags and haul them to town and find someplace and I don't Alaska has a recycling center everywhere I know here in the state I live they don't take them

Recycling instead of burning them by using the feed bags in the coop by stapling them to the walls as a wall covering. I said nothing about taking the bags to a recycling center.

@@waderueShe meant recycle them by using them as insulation in the coop. 🙂
That's a well taken care of Chicken Coop. 🐔

Amazing at all the work you guys must do on a homestead especially in Alaska. I know you work as hard as your husband. Chicken coop is a wonderful building and looks to be very strong. Have a great day

Question- Do you heat the chicken couple?

Not at this point, lots of debate on that subject ☺️
Looks like good egg production for winter. Do you have steady customers? Don't envy you when it comes to clean out this spring. In Va we use pine shavings which are pretty good for bedding.Good video.
the helicopter that flew over was Hewi you tell because of the thump thump that makes I know because i am old and my uncle was in the service
It would sure be hard to do without the little sleds here for sure.

❤I don't know who is running the camera, but YOU are the hard laboring worker, you need a wage increase 😅😂😊💪 🇺🇸
Tell us the financials of all this. You have a newer car, several out buildings, the all important land, and your actual cabin, yes maybe you built everything but did you get a loan for all this, I don't know of many people that could afford such a set up it can't all be paid for at your age.

Well try to figure a place for that discussion, possibly a future Q&A.
After a couple of winters would you go back to your previous lifestyles ? Not me.
