Life After Death - Scientific Evidence | An Interview with Oliver Lazar

Dr Oliver Lazar studied medicine and is a professor of IT at FOM University in Düsseldorf. With his extensive “EREAMS” study he apparently succeeded in proving that medial contacts to the hereafter can transmit real events.

I also was an atheist and I also changed slowly to spirituality, I haven’t had any traumatic experience in my journey , it was smooth change , now when I see atheist people , I think , only one single personal experience is enough to change any atheist to spiritual path.

Actually, even if you look at science, materialism isn't something that explains it all. They explain things away or get annoyed when you ask certain things.

I have had several deaths and recussitations ( obviously) and I have no doubt whatsoever that what I experienced is the continuity of conciousness. It is beyond any bliss you can experience in this life and I met relatives I didn't know about. I was a Nurse and have seen so many people who experienced the same. Nothing to fear.

I am deeply touched by this story and can relate on multiple levels. I am a medical doctor who walked his life under a heavy veil of materialism, holding on to science firmly and disregarding anything else. My awakening was spontaneous, was kind of pre-planned if you can follow this kind of reasoning. I am speaking about it as a scientist working in one of the best hospitals in the world on brain cancer, MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. Long story short - this is not a discussion anymore, your personal consciousness is immortal, just goes into a different level of vibration between the lives, where finally time is only a laughable concept. This comment is more to express my realization that many incarnations are here to not remember this truth completely and reject any evidence, whatever you try to tell them - it enters one ear and exits the other. This is one of the rules of being here on Earth. Evangelizing is a mistake, but not spreading the word is also. We should communicate this truth and see who resonates with it. It seems that from the perspective of time here on this planet, more and more incarnations want to start remembering sooner and sooner before death. So pure materialism dying off will be a natural process which will bring here new peace. And last, but not least - science is a marvelous tool and is not materialistic at all. It gives us a sense of awe to the universe, possibility to create and discover. Cheers!

Do you think this capability, to leave the body, is perhaps just an undiscovered facet of our human body when in a distressed state? In a way, if we had someone that actually died for a few days and came back (thus the body was truly dead in their absence), then it might provide irrefutable proof. Getting older, have cancer, so not being cynical but this has real world implications for me if it's true (and i lose my fight against cancer). ty

Wonderful interview. My father made contact with me one week after passing. I knew absolutely nothing about Spirit world. I met a friend whom I hadn't seen in a very long time and I had no idea that she was a medium. When she started to tell me my father was present I was very confused as I didn't understand any of this. After several minutes had passed she then said something that she could not have known and it blew my mind wide open! In that moment I knew for certain sure that my Dad was present. That experience set me onto my Spiritual path and even though I have had very difficult times my believe and Faith is as strong as ever!! Thank you so much. Blessings to all.💜

When my sister 'died' , i had to go to the nursing home to break the heartbreaking news to my elderly mother. I really didn't want to do it , & had asked my sister all the way in the car , to please help me be strong , and to please help our mother with the strength to deal with such devastating news. Long story short , the day ended up being quite amazing , and as i was driving home , i thanked my sister over and over for her obvious help and love throughout the day. I thanked her for being so 'present' in my life , and showing me constantly. But i did tell her how much i missed her voice - she loved the telephone ! When i got home i put away some shopping i had grabbed, and then heard the answering machine beeping , so i wrote down the numbers of who i had to return calls to , and then deleted them. As i walked away , it started beeping again , and i thought , wait a minute it hasn't rung and i had already deleted everything. So i pressed the machine again , and then couldn't believe it was my sister Sandra . Very excited and animated , at the thought of me travelling interstate to her place for her birthday. " Are you really coming for my birthday ?? I am so excited .................................... " She gushed happiness like this until the machine's timer timed out , and she was cut off. I just stood there , in absolute awe. It was LESS than an hour that i had told her how i missed the sound of her voice. And , i was in the very process of organising my trip down there, interstate, to her place , to scatter her ashes , ON HER BIRTHDAY ! As long as i have lived , Sandra was always an incredibly selfless woman , and she continues to be so. I am sure she passed early to help our unwell , elderly mother , over. Needless to say , that machine is very delicately wrapped in pink , with a note attached - " This is never to be discarded - Sandra speaking , with much love , 3 days after her passing. "

I am a native of Guyana in South America and a very old person. I have listened to many of these programes. and Werner Huemer, the interviewer is an absolute great. Werner Huemer would be able to encapsulate all the very different experiences and would be able to show their convergence; if or when he decides to write, he would be producing a very revolutionary book. Incidentally, a great deal of what comes out in these programes are commonplaces in many of the ancient religions and philosophies. For example when Prof Lazar uses the metaphor of Life leaving the body as if one is leaving one's car and closing the door, Lord Krishna in the Bhagwad Gita , 5000 years ago uses the metaphor of "you" merely changing one's clothes. Congratulations again to Werner Huemer for his superlative interviews. Before i forget, in the Western tradition,, a good description of the afterlife is found in Virgil's AENEID book VI; to get its real flavour, it should be read in Latin.

Appreciate this but we need more scientific evidence and not just references to ancient texts and Lord Krishna who indeed according to scriptures did provide indications. Let us please support efforts to come up with true knowledge well grounded in science. Can we travel back and forth to this other realm? Can we reverse death or arrange practical videoconferencing or phonecalls with people on the other side. I observe a great need to get this subject matter cleared up from superstitions, hunches, intuitions and overly dramatized approaches.

I can one up that. Jesus died, then rose again 3 days later. He showed himself to hundreds of witnesses and testified about the afterlife and what to expect. His death and resurrection was documented not only by prophesy in the Old Testent thousands of years before his birth, but then again in the New Testiment. And many other secular sources and societies. I could go on and on about the overwhelming imperical evidence, but until you open your heart. You won't hear it.

Eastern religions, philosophies and spiritual traditions have believed in incarnations and life after death for millennia. But for just as long, they have been dismissed out of hand by the tyranny of 'science and the scientific methods'. The fact that a continuous sampling of hundreds of millions of spiritual and spiritually-inclined people in the east (throughout the millennia) who have been systematically studying, enquiring, documenting and handing down insights on this subject (via meditation, discussions, sharing of experiences, etc) somehow did not meet the criteria of the scientific method - that level of 'scientific' scepticism makes a mockery of the western 'scientific' tradition itself because if anything, such a long tradition of study blows just about any definition of the scientific method right out of the water.

Understand (they don't): Science is only about the physical. In truth, like Dr. Lazar, they should have no opinion about it. It is not within their sphere of knowledge. It is like asking a fish about flying. Or a bird about swimming. And, yes, okay, there are some cross-overs but generally, one knows nothing about the other. But science and scientists have become arrogant. What's really funny is that this arrogance began because science was trying so hard for so long to prove its value (when most people believed more in the church) that scientists often feel the need to deny any non-physical -- anything. But it can't be denied.

It's always reassuring when medical professionals and scientists discuss their research and findings. I absolutely do not fear the after, but have a harder time living in this at times superficial world of ours. Big hugs to all. Sofus

I saw this on youtube by chance. I just lost my beloved dog Mika on the 6th of Feb 2022. Before she died, I was consumed with exceptional love when I was caring for her. She had congenital kidney disease and died just short of her 4th birthday. I was grief-stricken. But a day after she passed on, in a casual conversation with a friend who is familiar with dogs told me that dogs who have this problem do not live very long. In fact, with Stage 1 kidney disease the median time is 400 days. However, Mika lived much longer than that. Now for me to get over that grief was this crucial piece of information, which came from a casual conversation and I verified it from scientific articles. I strongly believe that Mika saw my pain and wanted to reduce it. I too am a medical doctor and it is hard sometimes to believe such stuff. But today, listening to you gave me great solace and once again I feel your you-tube program came to me through Mika. I wish you great success in your study. Reincarnation is a foreign concept in some cultures. I have only 1 question, how much does past karma control our rebirth? Thank you.

I feel the term 'kundalini awakening' is rather undefined. There are other ways to experience it and understand it, other than just 'kundalini awakening'. My own awakening/NDE many years ago i can call a 'kundalini awakening' but only because of certain physical sensations. I would describe a kundalini awakening very simply as 'The consciousness/spirit being unshackled from the body/normal bodily awareness'. But i think there are different models and experiential ways to understand this.

Back in the 1980s when I was in my 20s the aids epidemic was swirling killing people every day. My very close friend became ill and suffered and died at 29 years old. We were very close like brothers we talked about spiritual things all the time and when he passed I was so devastated. I went about my life but inside I was crushed. I wondered if I’d ever feel better. Six months after he died I was sleeping and he came up to me in a dream smiling looking healthier more handsome than ever and we hugged I was so glad and he said to me “Joey you know a lot. When your time comes to die I’m going to help you.” I was not scared I felt so relieved and happy to see him, in the dream we walked over to an area and we sat down and he said to me” things are a lot different over here” He lifted up his arm, and on his wrist He wore a watch, he took it off and held it in the air and let go of it and it just floated there, as we both watched. Then he said” Joey I wanna show you something else and he stood up and we walked to the edge of where we were, staring straight ahead there was suddenly a shimmering light vibrating and pulsating and it became brighter and brighter with the color of the orange and bright sun completely envelope in the us and you could look at it but the intensity was stronger than the sun, the colors were orange and yellow ,moving and pulsating…. It was like staring a the sun but your eyes didn’t hurt. It felt wonderful. When I woke up from that dream I felt completely healed of my grief. The tremendous weight lifted off of me. I know that one day when my time comes Jimmy will be there to help me! I’m not afraid because the love we have with people in this life goes never leaves and I know everyone is cared for in the afterlife.

Thank you for this interview. There are now, I believe, many, many of us who don't need convincing, but feel an urgency for others to grasp the simple and vastly enlightening knowledge that all lives are innately connected for the sake, or uses, the purpose, of Love, Divine Love. How many, for instance, on the entire planet don't know the phrase "May the Force be with you." It's time has come. Or maybe Time has come. Very uplifting for many in a time when Hope seems to be dragging its feet.

Thank you! 💖🙏☀️ What an amazing interview, and no doubt Prof. Lazar has only begun this fantastic and amazing journey. I was born in Germany, and lived there for many years, and relate so well to the mystical spirit and traditions from that culture (Meister Eckhart, Nicholas Cusanis, Hildegard of Bingen, J. W. von Goethe, Rudolf Steiner, Oskar Ernst Bernhardt, a.k.a. Abd-ru-Shin...the list goes on and on!) Professor Lazar's project reminds me so much of Goethe, his "delicate empiricism," as a way to integrate the scientific with a holistic Spiritual way of being. I don't mean to just focus on Germany alone, for indeed, our real nature is Spirit. All the world's religions tell us that, whether they're institutional or shamanic. Living also in the USA, like Prof. Lazar, l have a hard sciences background, working on a Ph.D. in theoretical particle physics. Indeed, he is correct, from the most fundamental sciences of our day, at the very basic level of resolution, the Planck Scale, what is basic is action-information-energy. I completed my Ph.D. eventually however in Philosophy, (working in areas like philosophy of science, philosophy of physics). Within the Western tradition, a view that certainly the likes of William James, Ralf Waldo Emerson, Alfred North Whitehead, espoused, there is a resurgent interest in panpsychism--i.e., the view that consciousness in its most fundamental sense, is basic and constitutes the very fabric of Reality. It's actually a very traditional metaphysical view you see everywhere--e.g. Brahman as Satchitananda (Being-Consciousness-Love) in Vedanta, or Sunyata in Madhyamika Buddhism, or Torah Shekina in Qabbalism, or Barakka in Sufism, or the Via Negativa in mystical Christianity,... again the list goes on and on. Oldie and a goodie! 🙂 John Horgan (science journalist) wrote an excellent book entitled: Rational Mysticism: Science and Spirituality, (published in 2004). Certainly Dr. Oliver Lazar's important work fits in that framework! I hope to see Oliver Lazar interviewed soon on Jeffrey Mishlove's channel New Thinking Allowed!

Mother had a Gold Gate bracelet with a LOVE inscription on it.. from her second Husband who had already passed. I place it on her wrist in the Chapel of rest. No one else would have known. 3 weeks after the Funeral, I visited a Spiritual Medium, a time served authentic Minister. Gwen was her name, she told me my Mother was coming through and describing me placing the bracelet on her wrist and she was saying thank you! and this was my validation to me she was still there in Spirit and with me.

Well according to Hinduism soul goes through eternal cycle of birth and death. Attaining Moksha or salvation is important for liberating the soul from the eternal cycle of birth and rebirth. Since our soul is eternal and never dies, it simply passes on to another body. Also every creature has a soul so it's not like you will always take birth as a human. When you detach yourself from all desires and aquire the true knowledge of soul and universe (Brahma) you achive moksha.

In my NDE, 28 years ago. (very short version) I first experienced deep peace, then had the knowing of "Oh i'm dead, but i'm still here" (bizarre!!) then 'the light' appeared and i recognised it as myself "That's me!??" and i merged with it and 'became love'. And in THAT state realised that the consciousness (spirit) that i was is what everything/everyone is, so on the deepest level, i'm everything and everyone, and by virtue of that, in that state, had access to potentially all knowledge of everyone and everything. Also knowing that in that state, there is no 'other', you are 'all', ... the self of all selves, so to speak, ... we all are. Had the sense of this state being my 'natural state' and that it is beyond (transcends), time, space, and dimensionality, yet has the experience of dimensionality ... i know not how. It also felt like i was 'home'. Resting and at peace with all things in my natural eternal state. The experience slowly faded and i regained awareness of a body and returned to 'normal consciousness'. Certain physical clues also tell me this was what is termed a 'kundalini awakening' and in hindsight i understand that i was just out of body, so to speak ... not enough to look down upon my body, feeling like my center of consciousness was 'just on top of my head'.

In ancient Indian texts called Vedas & Puranas,, this knowledge of life after death is already explained in details and that's why we follow all the rituals also more carefully for the deceased. 'Bhagwad Gita As It Is' by Srila Prabhupada and Srimad Bhagwatam explains with examples, universal science, science of soul and Supreme Soul is already given. This is 5000 yrs old knowledge. It seems that it's getting more difficult for science to ignore the reality of continuing consciousness...perhaps even expanded dimensions in our own world. Lazar's experiences are phenomenal, but he could have ignored them in the beginning. I'm glad that he didn't. Danke for posting this interview and especially for the English translation.

I really really enjoyed this interview! His experience covered a wide range of spiritual questions one might have regarding life after death, communication with the deceased and even reincarnation. He brings together science and spirituality In a methodical way which should alleviate any questions about the continuation of consciousness and who we really are. Loved it!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I can totally relate to it, having had exactly the same sadness and love flooding shortly after my father's death in 2008. I had not thought of this memory for a long time and your tale brought me back to that unbelievable intensity of shining pure love and harmony. I believe my Dad wanted to comfort me and let me know he was well and at peace. Take care, Paola- Italy

At the age of twenty one I mortgaged a property one of a family member said it’s a nice street & for a first buy I won’t go wrong, I went along with this and at £5.750.00 it’s not to bad for 1979 house prices I’d only visited the property once five years earlier, this purchase was a big big mistake My first evening was absolutely horrible as the windows started to bang & my new wife & myself were terrified Many people witnessed this friend’s & family But one hot summer day my wife & I were in the rear patio when this overwhelming fear came over me I immediately said to my wife our baby is in danger she said what do I mean as I ran upstairs to find our baby with a bow wrapped around his neck he’d managed to pull off a stuffed toy, how I knew I had no idea, but it probably saved our chid I can only imagine that the universe has more going on than what just meets the eye Almost everyone at some point in there lives are witness to strange events that cannot be explained

I remember feeling my grandmother and father at the birth of my second child. I had my children naturally, no sedatives, and there is a state presence that it so intense during child birth. I had not thought about my deceased loved ones particularly before this time, but there they were, right with me on the floor of the shower.

I met a Reiki master and wanted to experience a session. She was a Scottish lady and I am French. At the end.of the session she told me that my grandmother was in the room and that the energy was positive and there was a pink color around her. She also told me her name which freaked me out as this is an absolute impossibility for her to know as 1 I never spoke a word of my granmother to her and 2 her name is an old French name and a rare.one as well. She got her name right except for the first letter as it is a vowel so perhaps because she is Scottish.it sounded different to her. She also told me.my grandmother had a message for me and the message was she will always be there for me and she is with me at all times. I must say that I was very close to my grandmother and that she died over 40 years ago. The Reiki session was only in 2007.

A few years ago my doctor passed away. He was such a great man. He had seen me through a divorce and death of my parents. At his packed funeral I sat sobbing uncontrollably. After about 10 minutes of this I felt a warmth rise up starting at my feet. My body became filled with this warmth and 'light'...this light is hard to describe because I had never experienced this before. I felt filled with light and love. I stopped crying. My doctor, once again was comforting me.

I have felt this way for some time now! Wishing to prove with science that the spiritual realm and life without a body exists. Another portion to go into might be chi and the unseen energy now detected by high level instruments. Empty space has been proven not empty in other words. Mayhaps that is the next frontier..manifestation and the like proven. Thank you so much for pursuing this with such vigor!

I want too share an experience of this type of love/energy you get in your body and soul. 2 years ago me and my wife where in the hospital. She was giving birth too our little boy. We waited nearly 12 hours, until finally it was happening. It was exactly 12:34 when he took his first breath. The doctor pulled him out and I cut his umbilical cord. About 1 minute after he was born I got too hold him bare skin and when I did this hot, fuzzy, insanely tingly feeling I have never felt in my life (18 yrs) started flowing through the skin and muscles of my face quickly flowing down my body too my feet. I had felt something pure, it was purer and bigger then my expressions could show. Saying it really doesn’t do justice, I wish I could understand what I felt in that moment.

There was a church member who passed away that I was in the church choir with. He also volunteered as a maintenance man for the church. When I was at work a few days after he passed away, I felt him touch me on the shoulders while I was at my computer as if to say "I'm OK" and then the acute grief left me. He also came to me in a dream and I asked about some of the mistakes I made in life. He said they don't matter and to just to "please take care of the church"...I couldn't make that up...I knew it was him both times and he was with God while he was alive and now. I then understood his faith in God and service to Man during his time here was genuine.
