    I relate to this so much. I'm currently in the same situation as you. I hate the feeling of being useless while looking for a job, and with the recession from the virus, it's gonna be tough. But this video has given me lots of motivation that things will work out!

    Your post grad experience resonated so much with me !! I also felt “less than” when graduating... couldn’t find a job in what I wanted and ended up settling for income. And all my friends were working big 4 firm jobs. A couple years later - also did an additional post grad program to increase my hireability and finally got the job I always wanted in technology as an analyst.

    Definitely needed to hear everything you said in this video... I graduated last May & have been feeling so hopeless because I have yet to find a “real” job, while most of my friends seem really set in their career paths already. Thank you for reminding me of the fact that everyone’s journey is different 💕

    It's eye-opening to hear that you also needed some time to grow into your field of career; as someone who has discovered about PR post-grad (& extremely attracted to it), I assumed it's a field young grads feel prideful of. Currently going through another career path, but I enjoy watching your video and listening to your experiences. Thanks for great contents!

    been loving these videos about career/late college! im a rising junior in college rn and ive been feeling kind of lost since the first two years i really just spent it finding my interests and not rly thinking about career stuff or life after college. do you have any tips on how to narrow down a career focus or any general tips on what i should do differently this coming year? my grades are decent but i have virtually no extracurriculars or idea of what to do after college. consulting sounds appealing to me since i like being analytical but also creative. thanks!

    Hi! Kristina, its good to see you here. Thank you for sharing this insight especially, the second half of this video, about learning so much about yourself as you mentioned and trying different works. Also, experience combined with whatever jobs we do, can eventually land a job you are looking for, its a process. I have some question regarding a Career Path? I need your advice? I did my degree in Fashion Design. I am in the Retail Sales. Its been 3+ Years in the field. I have liked talking and interacting with customers, helping them and enjoyed discounts. I am looking for a career change & growth. I like traveling, meeting new people, interacting with them and helping people. I can't do 9-5 cubicle jobs, I am more free-spirited person who enjoys travel plus work. I think that also has brought me to your channel, the travel part of your life-style looks very interesting. I look forward hearing you soon. Thanks, have a good day!

    Totally agree with all of this as a fresh grad! It definitely took me a while to find what I wanted to do and grateful for the challenges and denied applications that got me here :-) After the final round of interviews for a company that I thought I wanted to be a graphic design intern for, I got denied. And honestly, if I did end up getting an offer, I would have never gotten the apprenticeship (that I have now) and another internship that aligns with the career I really wanted to pursue - Product Design! Also, a fellow bear 🐻over here; go bears~

    I graduated a long long time ago from college with a degree in accounting and even with that I was still unsure of how to go about it. I didn't have a job out of college but took a temp job at the college I was attending within the department that I worked at while I was still going to school. It wasn't a job in my field of study but it was something to keep me afloat while trying to figure out my next move. Luckily I saved most of my paycheck since I lived at home while in college and had plenty of time to apply for jobs and eventually found my first official accounting job. For me it took some time but eventually everything worked out and I was able to find out what interests I liked more and the path I wanted my life to take.

    Hi, I am an accounting major myself and while I still have 2 years or so left, I already feel anxious about post grad! May I ask how you’re doing now and if you’re pursuing the CPA designation? (I still can’t tell whether that’s what I really want to achieve later)

  • @cy24

    @cy24

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kharla.97 with the pandemic now I've been laid off and now in the process of looking for something new. I didn't pursue a CPA because I knew it wasn't the path I wanted at the time. It is up to you if you do want to pursue a CPA. If you do I would advise that you do so right after you graduate from school because a lot of the test is based on what you learned in school. My niece recently passed her CPA exam and I'm really proud of her. She just recently landed a job in Boston. Also having a CPA do give you a leg up as a job candidate because most companies always list this as a preferred qualification. It is up to you what you want to do and sometimes the road you take may not be the right one but eventually it will lead you to something that you will love to do. Best of luck!

    I'm a fresh grad as well! I had my last paper last week Thursday and I've been extremely worried about everything go on. I hear a lot of people say "work on your resume", but how can we do this if we aren't given any opportunities, especially during the pandemic? Any tips of "stacking the resume" during this time?

  • @bykchoi

    @bykchoi

    I think you can always work on your resume to tailor it to different jobs (if you don’t have one lined up). I suggested this in another comment, but maybe doing some courses on a site like coursera or skillshare could help? Or even if it’s not stacking your resume, you could still FaceTime/connect with people in your network!
