Lifan wiring - simple wiring for lights
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is about as simple as you can get to wire lights for your Lifan powered bike.
Here is a link for the regulator:

This is hands down the best channel for rebuilding/restoring old motorcycles using new motors. I need to check, but knowing how to wire up the brake light (for braking - not just running brake light) would also be very useful.

Can you hear the starter solenoid clicking, when you push the button? If you can get to the starter solenoid, check to make sure it’s getting 12v. If it is, jump across the two posts and starter should spin. You can also put 12v directly to the starter. If it doesn’t spin, the starter is bad.

What does Put Up Iron on the rectifier mean, and why a half way rectifier? So the head light is running AC, is that correct?
@MiniBikeMike

The stator can be wired a couple different ways from the manufacture. Most Lifan’s with a yellow wire and a white wire are half wave. The headlight can be powered AC or DC, depending on which wire you hook it too. The yellow wire is AC, the red wire is DC.

I got the lifan 125cc ssr engine installing on Z50 with lights but no battery, Im following your instruction for wiring everything before you start connecting rectifier, completed connection leads from my engine harness wires to the CDI harness leads as follows: blue/white to blue white, red/black to rec/black, green to green. This leaves the white and yellow wires from the engine harness to connect to the rectifier, but I also have one green/red wire with male end in the engine harness, cut it or ignore it? And I also have one more blue/white male end wire in the CDI harness, cut it, ignore it, or splice it in with the blue/white engine wire already connected to the CDI???
@MiniBikeMike

The green/red is the neutral indicator wire. If you don’t have a neutral light, you can ignore it. I’ve never seen a harness with a second blue/white wire. I’d leave it unplugged. If you have spark, you can cut it or ignore it. Some harnesses do have a black/white wire that is the “Kill” wire. Are you sure it’s blue/white and not black/white?

The coil wires were already wired into the harness and had a sleeve on them, thats how this unit came packaged. And I checked the other wire from the CDI harness, it is a blue/white, so there were 2 of these that were in the cdi wire set for some reason, what it does I have no idea. the harness CDI plastic plug is good and fit in the CDI port and is connected. For now, one loose blue/white on cdi harness set, one white, one yellow, one green/red on the engine harness. And I cant start the bike, tank and muffler not mounted yet. Difference between the half wave and the full wave rectifier ?
@MiniBikeMike
9 ай бұрын
Google can probably explain it better than myself, but the half wave is just that….only half of the AC wave is converted to DC. The other half is sent to ground, if I’m not mistaken. It’s an inefficient system, but cheap. I believe the charging coil is split between 5 windings, 3 are output thru the yellow wire, which is intended to power the headlight. The other two are sent to battery. I believe a full wave system sends all AC power from both sides of the wave to the battery and all electrics are run thru the battery. If I have all this incorrect, I apologize.

So from engine leads, the yellow is power, the white is a ground? you dont say what the white wire is for? Guessing engine white wire is the ground lead to rectifier that ends up connecting the green wire on headlight and black on tail light
@MiniBikeMike

The yellow wire and white wire both come from the charging coil. Only the green wire is ground. The yellow and white work in unison to create the power output.

@@MiniBikeMike im trying to wire my ssr 125 engine so the hwad lihht and tail light will work, i took out the 6 volt bulbs and put in 12 volt. Rather not have to use the rectifier with all this, was gonna run headlight blue/white wire to xonnect with yellow and T in the eed tail light wire also. Do i need to splice in the white lead into all this too?
@MiniBikeMike

@craighart4186 you need to use a voltage regulator. If not, the engine puts out so much voltage, you’ll constantly blow bulbs.

@@MiniBikeMike would it make a difference not connecting the white wire to anything? And just use the yellow?

@craighart4186 Only one way to find out….try it.
When you say it would go too your switch instead of your headlight do you mean the negative really need this video to include a switch I’m so lost and I know it’s easy
@MiniBikeMike

In the video, the headlight is hooked directly to the yellow wire and the headlight can not be turned off, when the engine is running. If you want the ability to turn the headlight off, install a toggle switch between the yellow wire and the headlight.

@@MiniBikeMike I have a toggle switch with the yellow running too my switch negative ,and the positive for the switch running too the positive on the light and the negative of the light as a ground not sure if I grounded it properly or if I missed something because I had it working then when I went to drive the bike in my yard the lights got bright then cut maybe something came loose I’ll have to check tommorow but I’m wondering if I did something wrong as I ended up not having to use the green or red on the regulator and just the yellow and white hooked up and I made the yellow so it goes to the bike yellow and then added a wire that runs to the negative of the switch I’m using for on off for lights also my bike has no battery in my setup got *update I got it working your video deff helped turns out I had a ground going properly but I dident hook it up too my green wire so when I had it all grounded properly my light dident burn out this time lol

@@joseplaisance7451 The front brake switch should have two wires. One is for power in and the other is power out. The power out wire can be hooked to the same power out wire as the foot brake switch.

Why is my light still flickering?
@MiniBikeMike

If you wired light as shown in video, there is no battery. Without a battery supplying a constant voltage, the light will always flicker, due to the stators random voltage output.

@@MiniBikeMike do you use a battery and voltage regulator or one or the other? Also if you are running an ignition switch made within the harness do you need a run switch?
Hi Mike can I pick your brain for a sec? I just tried to start my bran new lifan 125cc it started once and after that nothing I do have spark it has a bran new carb Im stumped at this point
@MiniBikeMike

I guess if it were mine, the first thing I’d do is pull the spark plug and check for compression. If that’s good, I’d dribble some fuel in spark plug hole, reinstall plug and see if it fires. If it does, you have a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn’t, about the only thing left to check would be timing.

Probably need to add a rectifier. The bike puts out AC power, and your light most likely needs DC power.
