Liebherr - New unplugged machines: battery-powered and zero emission

Ғылым және технология

The spotlight is on „unplugged“! 🔦 New models have charged their batteries to electrify with zero emission.🌳
The battery-powered drive concept is just as much fun as the conventional drive. Simply pull the plug out 🔌 and witness how the electricity pulsates in the veins of your machine. Caution‼️ Even operators will be electrified by the unplugged concept. 🥰💘
Today we reveal new unplugged machines for lifting, drilling and piling operations:
LRH 100.1 unplugged and LRH 200 unplugged (piling rigs)
LB 25 unplugged and LB 30 unplugged (drilling rigs)
LR 1130.1 unplugged and LR 1160.1 unplugged (crawler cranes)

I’m curious, how many takes did it take to film the motocross riders sections? Interesting video. Thank you.

If it needs ballast anyway then the weight of the batteries is irrelevant, and the idea of not using energy when the crane isn't working seems appealing.

Und geladen wird dann auf der Baustelle mit einem Dieselgenerator. And charging at the Construction side will be with an Dieselgenerator !!!! This calling zero emission in Liebherr Company ???!!!!

There are High-Power H2 generators available today that could power a whole constuction site. Conveniently build in a common ISO-container form factor. No need for diesel other than heating I guess ;)

I'm kinda sceptical about battery-powered construction equipment. The biggest issue remains as to how you _safely_ store such large amounts of energy in a battery without the battery becoming a weapon of mass destruction. How _are_ these guys going to store energy densities approaching that of gasoline or Diesel in a battery safely? Personally, I think electrifying heavy stuff is just a PR stunt.

It depends on the Battery-Chemestry used. NMC is highly flamable, while LFP ist rather safe, even when physically damaged. LTO is even better, but way to costly at the moment.

@@Beredro LFP and LTO also have significantly lower energy densities than NMC and LiCoO2.

@@electric7487 You are somewhat right. LFP isn't that far away from NMC. But either way...space and weight are not as much of an issue in construction equipment as they are in electric cars.

@@Beredro The problem is still there, though. Diesel fuel is 12.6 kWh/kg, and the best batteries are 250 Wh/kg. So the battery pack alone would weigh 50 or so times more than the tank of fuel, and would take up over 30 times the space. And as you increase the energy density the stability issues that are not a problem with LFP really do come back to bite you in the ass.

@@electric7487 Sure, diesel or other fossil fuels have a much higher energy density. And batterz tech will probably never reach that of fossile fuels. But consider how terribly inefficient the process of converting the chemical energy of diesel into useful motion on that drilling rig is.... And the process of extracting the crude oil, transporting it to the refinery, converting it to diesel, and transporting it on site is often overlooked, in my opinion. Sure, current battery technology is not perfect and has many flaws. But these are the first respectable steps toward an electric future. Some don't like it, some do, and some are on the edge. I, for one, love my 6.0L V8.... But electric machines and vehicles of all kinds are the future. And they are already pretty safe and getting better all the time. Sorry to go in a different direction.... I may be biased because I work on electrification mzself. (And I would love to work for Liebherr again :P )
