Eternal security is always a much debated subject among Christians and is sad because it should not be so. Thank you Brother Andrew for relentlessly preaching the wonderful message of grace! The devil our adversary relentlessly pushes loss of salvation But truth is truth, three main words we ought to focus on in John 3:16 are “HAVE” “ETERNAL & SALVATION” “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So true. I was just "arguing" that with someone. I was trying to tell him but he just wouldn't listen 😥. He believes he will go to hell everytime he sins but then he also says saved people dont sin (which isnt true). God bless you!

@eric bastian so you are perfect and never think a bad thought or say a bad word ever? If you do, then you sin just like everyone. The difference is we are forgiven and the lost are not. Jesus paid it all for us. It's what he did, not what we do.

The hot or cold in Revelation 4 is talking about mixing Law and grace which God abhors. It’s either Christ finished work or try to be saved by keeping the law to the letter which will not save you.

This is my take... let me know what ya think... Mark 2:22 (NKJV) "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins." In the new covenant, God doesn’t want us to be blessed when we obey the law and cursed when we fail. Doesn’t such a system sound awfully similar to the old covenant? Grace is undeserved, unmerited and unearned favor of God. The moment you try to merit the free favors of God, his Grace is nullified. In the new covenant, God wants us to be blessed on account of his son and what he did on the cross. It has nothing to do with our performance or ability to keep the law. Those trying to be justified by their law keeping still have an old covenant mentality, even if they profess that they are in the new covenant. They have reverted to the old system that was based on works and obedience, rather than trusting in the new system that is based on faith and believing. When there is mixture between the old and new covenants, between the covenant of law and the covenant of grace, you lose both and the benefits of the two covenants are nullified! How do We know this? What is the scriptural basis for this? Let’s look at what Jesus said: Mark 2:22 (NKJV) "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins." What was Jesus referring to when he shared on the new wine and old wine skins? He was referring to the mixture of the two covenants. The new wine represents the new covenant of grace, while the old wine skin represents the old covenant of law. Have you seen old wineskins before? They are brittle, hard and inflexible. That’s the law. It is inflexible. And when you pour the new wine of grace into the old wineskin of the law, you will lose both because the wineskin will be ruined and the wine will be spilled. The virtues of both the old and the new covenants will be canceled out and lost. I can’t understand why many believers are still trying to balance law and grace. If you are for the law, be for the law completely. If you are for Grace, then be for Grace completely. It is impossible to balance the two of them! That is why Jesus also said: Revelation 3:15-16 (NKJV) 15 "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. For years, I have heard preachers preaching that in Revelation 3:15-16, Jesus was referring to people who are not “red-hot for Jesus”. Have you heard that expression before? And what does being “red-hot” for Jesus mean? Traditionally, we have been taught that it means that you are reading 10 chapters of the Bible a day, witnessing to your colleagues and attending every prayer meeting you can find! To be cold means just the opposite, you stop doing these things entirely. The verse has always been preached as though it were about our actions and behavior. But Jesus said that he would rather we be cold or hot, and not Luke warm. This wouldn’t make sense if he was referring to actions and behavior, because wouldn’t being Lukewarm for Jesus still be better than being completely cold? So why would he want to Church of Laodicea to be cold (if they weren’t hot)? Come on! Think about it! Now, would you like to know what Revelation 3:15-16 really means? The two verses would only make sense when they are interpreted in the light of the mixture of the covenants of law and grace in the Church of Laodicea. The Lord was saying that he would rather the church be cold - entirely under law, or hot - entirely under grace. You see, if you were at least completely under the law, it would lead you to despair and into the saving arms of Jesus. The Law would unveil to you your sinfulness and inability to keep the full measure of it, and this would cause you to see your need for his grace. But when you have mixture, where you believe in Grace, but still hold onto the law, you neutralize the convicting power of the law to bring you to the end of yourself so that you will cry out for the grace of the Savior. That is why you cannot be cold and hot at the same time, or before both law and Grace at the same time. The moment you attempt to balance grace with the law, you neutralize both and each covenant is robbed of its full affect in your life. You become lukewarm because of the mixture, and God hates mixture because it robbed you of the power to reign in life through the abundance of his grace! You cannot put new wine into old wine skins. You will lose both! This is exactly what Paul was saying to the Galatians when he explain to them the purpose of the law: Galatians 3:24-25 (NKJV) 24 Therefore the law was our tutor [to bring us] to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. The law was our “tutor”, Or according to the King James version, our “schoolmaster”, To bring us to the end of our own efforts and to Christ. The law is an impossible standard for men to keep. The Pharisees brought the law down to a level where they could keep it. They really thought that their works, they’re reading the Scriptures and they’re loud prayers could justify them. But when Jesus stepped onto the scene, his harshest words - He called them a “brood of vipers” - We’re reserved for these very legalist. He brought the law back to his pristine standard. According to Jesus, once you fantasize about a woman, you are guilty of adultery. Once you were angry with a brother without cause, you were guilty of murder. “But this is an impossible standard. We will all fail!” Exactly! Finally, you were getting it. Jesus was showing us the true standard of God’s law and holiness. It is impossible for man to keep his law! If you are not for grace, then make sure that you are entirely “cold” - completely under the law. Don’t mix law and grace. When you put yourself completely under the law, you will find that the law will be your tutor to bring you to the end of yourself. When you finally acknowledge that you cannot save yourself, you will turn to the Savior and his grace will fill your heart. You see, when you think that you can, his hands are tied and he cannot. But when you know that you cannot, that’s when HE CAN! Get it! Before a lifeguard attempts to rescue someone who is drowning, he will wait for the person to give up on his efforts to save himself. If the person is still struggling, with his hands flailing and legs kicking everywhere, a well-trained lifeguard will not come close to him just yet because he knows that he will be pulled down and both will drown. So even though the lifeguard wants to save a drowning person, he cannot until the person has exhausted his strength and give up trying to save himself. Then, the lifeguard immediately grabbed a hold of him and bring him to safety. Similarly, when you think that you can still save yourself, God’s grace cannot flow. If you mix law and grace, both will “drown” And you will lose “BOTH”. In other words, the person who is “drowning” must know that he is drowning and that he cannot save himself. (Now, isn’t that a deep revelation!) Only when he gives up on his efforts can Grace come and rescue him. Jesus had no effect on the Pharisees precisely because they thought that they were self-sufficient in their law keeping and saw no need for the Savior. They had no relation they were drowning! Paul told the Galatians, “Christ is become of no effect on to you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace”. Today, when someone sins, ministers say that the person has “fallen from grace”. But Paul never told the Corinthian’s that they had fallen from grace despite all their sins. To fall from grace then is to fall into the law. Noticed that Grace is the Highground. When you were under the law, you have fallen from your high ground of grace. In the Ark of the covenant, the mercy seat is positioned above the Ten Commandments. You fall from grace when you go back to the Ten Commandments. The law makes everything of man’s efforts, while Grace gives all the glory to God. That is why Paul told the Galatians that the gospel is not a man-pleasing Gospel. He was essentially saying, “If I want to please man, I would be preaching the law.” Legalistic people react when they hear that they can no longer boast in there self efforts to keep the law. The only people who appreciate Grace are those who have come to the end of themselves, to the end of their own efforts to save themselves. They have tried over and over until they have finally given up and admitted that they cannot meet the laws unyielding standard. That’s the time when they are ready to receive God’s undeserved favor, his saving grace! We are all against sin, but Grace has the power to get out of sin. The more entangled you get with the law, the more the law will stir up sin in you. The law was designed to expose sin. It is sad that many preachers refused to except the gospel of grace until they themselves are caught in sin. Only when they find themselves ensnared by Sin do they realize that only Grace can give them true power over sin. That is what Paul asserted when he said, “For sin shall not have domain over you, for you are not under the law but under grace.” The good news is, you can embrace the grace of our Lord TODAY and have dominion over sin TODAY!

*Ephesians 2: 8-10 KJV* [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we SHOULD walk in them. Faith doesn’t always automatically mean works will come. But we SHOULD start doing good works and spread the gospel to please our Father.

  • @celticbaptist9234

No it is not automatic works. A person can place all their faith on Jesus Christ and do no works and still be saved. Romans 4:5-6 KJV [5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. [6] Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works. We have a free will. A person can choose to stay lazy and not spread the gospel or continue in the sins they were doing prior, but they will still be saved because they are spiritually born again for believing in their heart Jesus Christ Died and rose again for their sins. I say, anyone who gets saved and does no works are wrong, they should want to please God. I think if a believer does no good works then they may get punished by God on this earth. Maybe even lose heavenly treasures.

He was responding to comments--on Tim's behalf and with his endorsement, I would add. I unsubscribed over it (and his attitude when questioned/criticized). His "OSAS" (his words) theology threatened believers' security in salvation teaching something like, "you must produce good works to prove your salvation or you were never saved to begin with." Punctuated with the finality of being "thrown in the fire."

That one right there is pretty much where those "works-based" cults and false religions blow it. That Henderson dude almost sounds like a Seventh Day Adventist...Maybe Roman Catholic...Maybe Judaism...Dunno. Not sure. But where is Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 6:12, 1 Corinthians 10:23, Hebrews 11:6 or James 2:14-26 in THAT type of equation? After a person chooses (Genesis 2:16-17, Joshua 24:15, etc.), Jesus does 100% of everything else (John 15:5). The one thing it looks like that Henderson dude, unfortunately, is lacking in that particular line of thinking is simply to ask the questions of, "Once WHAT??" "Always WHAT??" [Lest anyone forget that all of the laws in the Old Testament point to the message of the cross in the New Testament. Jesus fulfilled that Mosaic Law (see Matthew 5:17-20 -- He didn’t ABOLISH it but rather FULFILLED it). There’s only one way to be saved and to subsequently avoid hell, period (see Mark 1:15 and John 3:1-21). Jesus at Calvary is the only way anyone is ever forgiven, again, period (see John 14:6, John 19:30): “IT IS FINISHED.” Forgiveness is once for all (Hebrews 10:1-18). Once you’re born, you’re born (see Matthew 6:10, then study Romans 8). Salvation by works never works (see Isaiah 64:6, Romans 10:13 and Ephesians 2:8-9). See Matthew 28:6, Romans 5:10 - Forgiveness justifies; Jesus’s resurrection saves. (Those with eyes to see and ears to hear can see hundreds of principles of how The Lord operates throughout the rest of the Old Testament, however.)]

Those he never knew are those who produced bad fruit. They did not do the will of the father. the will of the father is to love the Father, son and Holy Spirit, to except the blood of Christ and love your neighbor. Remeber the faithful servant and the evil servant. The good servant does the will of the father. The evil servant beats his fellow servants. The word says he never knew them because his spirit was never in them, or else they would have asked for help for all their weaknesses from the father and he would have surely given them help.

Salvation is about a relationship with Christ. Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments and he will come and abide in us. True we are saved by grace and must believe. Those that don't believe are condemned already. True God will always love you or leave you. Osas teachers teach no matter what you do or how you live you still get to enter the kingdom, just lose rewards that's not what Jesus taught. In revelation 2 and 3 all the churches where told to repent and to overcome to enter heaven. Repent and overcome what? Sin and unrighteous living they was doing. We are to repent and overcome to enter the kingdom. Osas doesn't teach we are to maintain our salvation they say that's works. Jesus taught obide endure strive that's not working for salvation or lordship that's living Christian lifestyle. We all have free will even after saved and if anyone chooses not to continue to remain faithful and abide in Christ and die in that condition are doomed. The Lord is always faithful and will always love us the problem is are we? Follow Jesus not anyone else salvation is about an obedience love faith relationship with Christ.

It never says to repent of sin. It says to repent. What does that mean? Change your mind from trusting in what we do to save us. our works, to trusting in His finished work to save us. Believe the gospel. First Corinthians 15:1-4. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the GOSPEL of your salvation, in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. Hebrews 13:5 He will never leave us or forsake us. John 6:37 He will never cast us out. If we go off and live in some sins God hates, like homosexuality, He may chasten us and even take our life, First Corinthians 5:5, but He can not go back in His word. John 6:47. John 3:16

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, and we all die, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our lord. Itching ears are those who do not believe and think they can save themselves by how they live and what they do, their own works. They never did the will of His Father in heaven. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day. Ephesians 2:8-9 Since eternal life is a gift from God, then we have nothing to boast in. Those in Matthew 7:21-23 were boasting in what they did to save themselves, not what Jesus did for them when He paid the penalty for all their sin. First John 2:2. but they would not accept His free gift of eternal life and tried to save themselves by good works and keeping the law. Romans 11:6 and Romans 4:4-8. John 6:37-40 John 10:28-29 First Corinthians 15:1-4. Ephesians 1:13-14 Ephesians 4:30 First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. Gods word can not lie. John 6:47 and John 5:24.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit in whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. What if we quit believing? Second Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, He abideth faithful, He can not deny Himself. The Holy Spirit that lives in all who have believed the gospel of all grace. Romans 11:6. If salvation was not a free gift, no sinner could be saved.

Andrew, You are assuming that everyone who calls themselves christians are born again. I agree with you that those who are born again have a new identity since the Holy Spirit is within them. How do interpret what Jesus said about the narrow gate and the hard road to life, and that only few find it. This statement from Jesus does not tell me this is an easy thing to get, it requires digging on our part otherwise Jesus would not have said this. Once you are in, then the hard work starts, like Paul said, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

I know you didn't ask me so I hope you don't mind my comment. I've always believed that "straight is the gate and narrow is the way", is telling us that JESUS and Him alone is the narrow way. Certainly, few in the world believe our salvation is through Christ's blood atonement ALONE. Because every "religion" in the world believes we must work and earn heaven (even many "Christians"), this makes a pretty broad path that many follow. Jesus said, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." And we are called to rest in Him. I believe, "work out your salvation with fear and trembling" means we should take scripture, and understanding it correctly, very seriously. Nothing is more important so we must be diligent and study to make sure we understand the Gospel. 💖

Krissy Young No I don’t mind your comment. Yes Jesus is the narrow gate however Jesus said it is hard to find it. I find around me many who call themselves christians who don’t seem to have the desire to talk about the things of God, at least to me this is the most important theme of my life, it is impossible for me not to talk about God or christian themes. Jesus will reject those who love lawlessness so the opposite is what we need to do, but I question Andrew because there is such as thing as easy believing which only deceives. I remember the parable of the house on the rock and on the sand. So we need to practice what the Lord tells us such as forgive, turn the other cheek, look at your own eye before looking at somebody else’s, love our enemies, and love one another.

Saved by Faith alone on Jesus Christ alone. Once saved, we should do good works and spread the gospel to please our Father. If we do, we will get blessings on earth and treasures in heaven. Not only that, more importantly we get to save souls of people which is the best feeling ever. If one gets saved and does no good works they are still saved... but they will get punishment from God for laziness and no treasures in Heaven. God bless you 😃😃

Its those who do the will of God, many people walk in darkness. Romans 6:20. For when you were servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 6:21. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 6:22. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye hhave your fruit and holiness, and the end everlasting life. Its fundamental choice, obedience to God or the lake of fire, that's the second death of revelation chapter 20. God won't force anyone to love him and be in his presence for eternity. Phillipines 4:3 document, its those who labour in the gospel are in book of life. Those who walk in the flesh are headed for destruction. The Greek word ACHREIOO means = unprofitable. Do you think the false preachers are profitable?? Their unprofitable, bad fruit. Are their names in book of life?? Luke 17:10. So like wise , when Ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, we are unprofitable servants: we have done that which our duty to do. Those who dont want to study the bible, plant seeds for God, and confession of sins to God. God wants results, fruit producers, someone of value. MLEAH in Hebrew means = fruit, produce. The world is playing the scratch your butt game, playing church, conformed to ways of the world. Why aren't they're names in book of life?? Their unprofitable, of no value. Everyone writes their own ticket, on judgement day, their judged by their works, its either eternal life or lake of fire, decisions have consequences. James chapter 4, to be friends with the world is to be enemy of God. Your either servant of righteousness or servant of sin.

Matt, just a couple thoughts.. Jesus said, I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and never in the Greek, means never- ever. It's also a double negative "never perish" ! ,, Which is a very strong emphasis, meaning absolutely Never!!.. And also what Andrew saying here is, Jesus will say, I never knew you, not I knew you but then you didn't keep producing fruit? Or I knew you and then now I forget you, because you didn't keep obedient.. He says to the goats, I never knew you. Never..
