Hi David. That disc sander is ideal for light work, someone who is not in a rush to remove a lot of material fast. I have some Erbauer power tools they are really well made and nice to use so I think this sander will work well. It was a good demonstration and review. I agree with you on your verdict. Tony

Hang in there buddy, it WILL get easier. I promise. Interesting to see the Erbauer in action as I was all set to buy one myself until they became mysteriously out of stock for several weeks. I ended up with a Bosch which I am happy enough with, but do like the look of the Erbauer, especially the vacuum attachment which the Bosch lacks. Good overview matey, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Metabo fsx200 is a great budget random orbital sander. Comes in a great hard carry case too. No speed control though but a proper filter.

Yeah I did look at that one also but the fact it didn't have adjustable speed put me off.

The Erbaur seems quite a good tool too. Very quiet initially, and not excessively noisy on full speed. The dust collector box looks odd without any visible filtration on exhaust, can you tell where the air exits the box or vents out the sander body? Hope the plastic box doesn't break, but you have the vacuum port attachment if it does. Nice reviews, keep it up ...if you can afford lots of new sawdust toys ... Err ... Umm ... Tools

There is a gap in the box for air to vent

Not sure which one you're talking about. I'm sure they would both work for sanding paint off metal. The random orbital sander is great for the money. The disc sander has been great for me although it does bog down if you press too hard but for £29 I can't complain. Or you could use an angle grinder with sanding disc

Nice quiet machine, won't deafen you!! (Parkside) Great trick to line up the paper on the disc, I'll try remember that. Were those initial tests on full speed? Can't see much use for the lower speeds with low power motor. Didn't see much sawdust getting blown around, it must go somewhere, hope it fits your vacuum system. Are discs easy to get?

Discs are easy to buy as they are a common size. Dust extraction works quite well when you have vacume attatched
