I've never done an olympic lift in my life but watching a woman hold a respectable deadlift weight above her head is so impressive. I'm really keen to try olympic lifting, it is a seriously awesome sport.

and a lot more demanding than deadlift movement. :) I haven't ever tried it either btw! Perhaps some day ( i'm already starting to be in my 40's lol ). But i never cease to enjoy watching it and have utmost respect towards the sport.

I started Olympic lifting just before I turned 37. It is just awesome. It requires a lot of mobility, balance, coordination and... patience. A knowledge of physics helps too! Lidia's split jerk is one of the most powerful I've seen. She literally explodes when driving the bar up. I had been lifting weights in commercial gyms for almost 15 years before I gave olympic lifting a shot. There's just no comparison possible. But be ready to buy new pants. You'll put on some serious meat between your hips and your knees!

I'm very interested of it my self, i turned 37 yo 3 months ago. :) It would be awesome just for a hobby. I don't have anything near 15 years of gym experience, only 6. I atleast own Nike's romaleos 2 weight lifting shoes so it's a little start. :) Perhaps i give it a shot this year. :)

esperemos que sigas compitiendo mas años .. aun queda muchos titulos que ganar ... de momento descansa y piensa en lo que has conseguido : ganar una competicion demostrando lo que vales no solo hacia el publico y la aficion ... no solo a tu entrenador y asistentes , sin contar familiares ,amigos y conocidos ... sino a ti misma la rival mas fuerte a la que debes vencer ... sin contar que el hierro siempre gana con la ayuda de la gravedad , como consecuencia de el acido lactico debido a el fallo muscular momentaneo ... una vez me dijo un entrenador de culturismo una frase que nunca olvidare : ganar es facil ... pero llegar a el mismo nivel , incluso ser mejor en la siguiente competicion no es tanto ... la competicion es como el examen para aprobar la asignatura , pero lo realmente importante es llegar hasta ahi sin importar lo que hagas ... eso ya es un logro ... aun asi gana y aplasta a todos tus rivales hasta que se inclinen hacia a ti como sumision ... mientras tu les compadeces con el maximo respeto posible y a su vez siendo un refente para saber como lo tienen que hacer la proxima vez ... el reflejo de sus fracasos es la gloria de la victoria que saboreas al vencerles ... una emocion efimera o temporal comparada con un orgasmo ... esta sensacion es altamente adictiva en muchos competidores de alto nivel , que los lleva a ser competitivos sin conocer la derrota hasta el retiro en el mejor de los casos ... pero eso es dificil , mas no imposible ... mas alla de los titulos que solo son un reflejo de que las cosas estan bien hechas ... dejar un legado en la halterofilia de tu pais es el regalo mas importante que puedes dejar tanto a ti misma , como a los que te rodean ,pensando que con esfuerzo y dedicacion se puede llegar a lo mas alto ... pero no dejes que el exito temporal te ciegue por una parte pecando de exceso de confianza ... en su defecto si te retiras , esperamos ver a otra futura lidia en miniatura siguiendo tus pasos hasta combertirse en otra campeona mas en la halterofilia femenina española cuando crezca , tomandote como referente ... tu entrenador estara orgulloso de ti por haberte preparado de la mejor manera posible , y eso ha dado el resultado de lo que tienes hasta ahora .... no te relajes o al menos hazlo parcialmente , porque siempre habran rivales que estaran al acecho buscando tus debildades , aprovechandolas para intentar ganarte como en todas las competiciones donde has estado , o al menos en una mayoria ( eso es inevitable ) ... no intento desanimarte ni quitarte meritos sobre lo que has conseguido , sino darte a entender que cuando estas en la cima de la montaña , siempre deberas esperar que todo el mundo que te vea desde la distancia piense en retarte hasta vencerte .... usa eso como motivacion para ser la mejor de tu epoca ...

This is what I don't get. I was in the gym the other day and some guy made a mocking comment about how I looked. I'm in the gym I'm there to work out not please the men there but they are only one dimensional and hate women who do not try to please them as that is the function of women.. Long story short I doubt she gives a shit if you are pleased by her looks only that she feels good and performs to the best of her ability.

No I just notice a trend in comments on these videos that can't help addressing how the athlete looks whereas comments about men are about their skill and athleticism. The word 'triggered' is always bandied about aswell to reduce the opinion of women who call this kind of thing out, what does it matter how she looks? she is absolutely amazing at what she does but the commentators can't help themselves because the way she looks must be assessed also not just the athleticism. I don't have low self esteem, I'm giving my opinion and I'm bored of these kind of comments.

Well, I'm 58 and have watched televised sports of all kinds and I thought I had heard the very worst . But the three providing "commentary" on this broadcast are , well, perhaps its better left unsaid. I can't believe some of the remarks. Its clear that they don't really have a whole lot of real,personal experience with Weightlifting.

Every US lifter is lol Except Harrison Maurus maybe. USA, the country who always cries PEDs lmao. I just wish they'd stop thinking that even with a level playing field, they could possibly win. It's just being pretentious just stop. This is excluding those who started early around 8-14 years old.

Edred Odinson: what you say about Greg Everett is true. Back in the day I had a discussion with one USA lifter who firmly believes in bending the arms on the first pull, just because Everett write an article about that. So all the weightlifting coaches who say that arms should be straight are wrong... Douchebags everywhere.

Very douchy attitude and answer he gave to you there. Also extremely disrespectful of you and the athletes. I had no idea. You should feel somewhat vindicated though, because I saw he sells a book specifically for masters on his site and he put the split snatch in the video section. If you meet him again you could call him out on that.
