WHAT ARE HEAD LICE:
Adult lice are about 3mm long, about the size of a sesame seed and they are a grey-white to black colour. You’ll also be happy to know they don’t have wings so they can fly or jump across from head to head, that’s a common myth that many people think can happen.
Head lice eggs or nits are brown or white empty shells attached to the hair. The NHS have some really good pictures of head lice and their eggs so if you’re still unsure please visit the following link: www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-li...
HEAD LICE SYMPTOMS:
The main symptoms are itchy scalp and also sometimes the sensation of something moving in your hair. But the only way to be sure someone has head lice is by finding live lice and you can do this by combing the hair with a special fine toothed comb we call this a detection comb and you can purchase it from any pharmacy or even online.
MEDICATED LOTION TREATMENT:
Firstly remember as soon you spot head lice you need begin treatment, secondly everyone in the house needs to get checked for head lice and treated on the same day, by doing this it’s going to give you the best chance of getting rid of them.
There are various products you can buy from the pharmacy which your pharmacist will recommend to you, generally speaking Dimeticone containing products do work well and studies have shown they have a high cure rate, it’s also odourless which is always a good thing.
Dimeticone works by creating a physical barrier around the head lice so resistance is unlikely to develop it’s also generally recommended to apply it again 7 days after the first treatment. But obviously follow the instructions that come with the product as every product is different and always speak to your pharmacist first to make sure you’re safe to use it.
Some products however are not recommended because they’re unlikely to work, for example, products containing permethrin, head lice repellents, electric combs for head lice and treatments containing tea tree oil and lavender oil.
WET COMBING:
If you do want to go down a more natural route then there is wet combing which if done right can be very effective. Before we learn how to do it you will need some shampoo, conditioner, a towel, a normal comb and a head lice removal comb you can get this from a pharmacy or online however please remember these are slightly different to a detection comb as they are generally stronger.
Please follow the instructions in the video. This process is very effective if done right now if you have short hair it takes about 10 minutes and if you have long hair, it takes about 20 to 30minutes. You will however have to repeat the wet combing technique a couple of times this is to break the lifecycle of head lice.
Perform wet combing on days 1, 5, 9 and 13 to catch any newly hatched head lice. And make sure to check everyone hair is free of lice on day 17.

If you have lice and you don't know how to get rid of it let me give you a little story of mine. My hair is super healthy and long and was beautiful but because of that I had lice 5 different times. Ive went through a lot with it like bullying, embarrassed infront of tons of people, I felt just hopeless and super sad. My mom told my god mother about my problem and my god mother said she knew a recipe and came to my house to help. We did 3 treatments total and I had no lice. It was probably the most happiest day of my life. I used to cry a ton because of this... Theres so much more I just can't even talk about it. Here's the recipe:) Get a cup or bowl pour in: Vineger Salt Than Pour in 2 lemons. Put it in the fridge for a few hours Than let it out for a few minutes so its not super cold. Pour it all on your hair (Also the vinegar can burn your neck a bit since it stings a bit and can be bothering, so wear a tower and make sure to wash it right after.) Keep it in for about an hour or two. Please wash your sheets and pillows and make sure to burn the combs with hot water. And after wash your hair. You'll see tons of the bugs falling the the bathtub or sink which is a good sign. 2 more treatments and you'll be good. Please don't let it get bad how I let it.. I had to cut my hair and my hair was SUPER long and beautiful I got it again in the summer I think and I couldn't handle the stress and pain it caused me so I cut my hair off. Right now my hair that was close to my knees is now above shoulder length.

You need a metal lice removal comb and use paper towels to wipe the comb to catch the lice and seal them in a ziplock bag because the conditioner doesn’t kill them and they will move again when they start to dry. Putting the paper towels and found lice and nits in a ziplock bag suffocating the lice. Be sure the bag is sealed. I know. Im a professional

Wash all of your sheets, pillow cases, blankets, comforter, all of that stuff. And if you’ve been around anyone while you’ve had the lice ask them to check there hair and then check yours. Most of the time the lice in your hair is gone but not the lice you’ve probably left behind. And after you know for sure that your lice is gone, brush your hair with the lice come for about a week after, just to be extra certain that your lice is gone
