Hi Cory! I want to buy the standard Studio orchestra as a lightweight library, first orchestral purchase with a limited budget, do you think still that they are worth it? And it's worth it to upgrade to pro later? Or do you have another recommendation for a complete set of orchestra libraries that are light and not that expensive to start?

next sale for the upgrade then :) bought the core version during wishlist sale, after watching your spotlight. The articulation(s) and groupings of the core version are also available in Pro, right? Thx again, again ;)

how to change between legato & staccato? do i have to create separate track and use two instuments?

Hi Cory.Thanx a lot for your Video.Just amazing.I did try to install your beautyful patches. But it doesnt work. Must i add them to a Original folder ?

Could anyone be so kind as to instruct me on how to install Cory's custom multis (on a mac)? After 40 yrs as a jazz pianist the pandemic forced me to look to my computer for the first time as a means of keeping my creative and musical sanity somewhat intact.

Another very good oversight, very professional. Thank you. As this library will be on a 50% sale the next two days, I am interested. Your patches really add to the value of the package I think, but I know little about Kontakt - under the hood etc, so I have some questions: how do you install these patches? Do they work in Komplete Kontrol and Maschine? In the ensemble patches the different string sections have very nice temporal seperation - if you understand what I mean: not just a thick pad-like sound, the celli, and viola's do not play at excactly the same moment, very realistic. I love that. Is it something within those patches, or is it your playing style? Thanks in advance

The patches are just regular Kontakt patches and multis (.nki and .nkm) and will work the same as the patches you get with the library (by dragging them into the Kontakt window) as long as you point the patch to your samples folder (if the patch can't find the samples it will open a box where you can locate the folder and you can resave the patches to keep them that way). The multis with the single note chords are designed where a key will activate different notes for different patches so you only get one note per patch and don't get the pad-like layering.

@@CoryPelizzari Thank you so very much, Cory! I bought the pro version yesterday, in the Apex sale, for 50% off. Got to play with it this morning, and tried out some of your patches. Incredible indeed! They add so much to an already very comprehensive library. Love the sound and the playability. I am still in the honeymoon stages of course, but I feel I will get a lot more use and inspiration out of this library than I get from Spitfire's Chamber Strings - of which I always assumed it to be the best string library around.

@@TRPJ24 Chamber Strings is good but its wet dark sound can only do so much. Every string library has a personality and just having one can never be enough to cover all the colours you desire.

@@CoryPelizzari Hi, thanks for great review. So what we get with this library is 2 size chamber strings + solo strings? If thats true than maybe it's OK to upgrade from Studio strings core. As well is there a difference in between legato performance in core and professional versions? Thanks

wonderful. This one was especially good for me as I already own them. This has become my core writing string library. BUT you are showing me things I didn't know. For example at 10:48 you say solo mic. Do you mean stereo mic for say 3A or 3B? What solo mic are you referring to?

The C2 mic for all the ensemble and divisi sections is the solo instrument mic, so you get 13 solo instruments in total.

That pitch bend wheel configuration, is it yours or does it come by default?

wait, how do you make your custom patches? can you choose which articulations are in each patch??? like make a patch with legato and spicato only for example??

The mixed articulation patches allow you to load or unload a variety of articulations as well as set custom keyswitches for them. My custom multis usually consist of combining different sections with a single articulation patch and changing the transposition for each patch to create chords.

Thanks a lot for doing this library spotlight review... Any idea if it is possible to add 'portamento' to the various smaller 'divisi' sections by using a Kontakt script? Best regards and blessings, Max T.

There's no real way to do this as the legato patches are locked from editing within Kontakt.

@@CoryPelizzari Thanks for the feedback... Maybe a solution is to layer a solo chair instrument that has portamento' with the smaller SF Studio Strings smaller sections to get some sort of portamento effect. What do you think? Cheers, Max T.

Click the save icon in Kontakt and choose "batch resave", then click on the folder with my patches and multis in it. Then if it's missing any files just browse for folder and click on your Spitfire Studio Strings Professional folder to resave all the patches in one go.

So the patches are unlocked here, meaning you can go under the hood to tweak them to your liking? I have the core version but they were locked. I need to confirm before upgrading please

Any patch that has a legato articulation is locked. The rest can be tweaked, even for the core version. You just have to use the individual articulation patches because the all-in-one patches have legato included, so they're locked as well.

I actually requested their support team to at least add a legato speed slider on the GUI to have more of that transition which is a REAL shame you can barely hear in such intimate environment. I highly recommend everyone who has the library to request the same maybe our votes will add up to their attention. They replied to me personally that they will consider this but no promises though...

@@xxMohamedElBatrawyxx If they don't add a speed slider it's likely because the recordings were done quicker and they didn't take as much time recording slower transitions that they could provide a slider for (like in Chamber Strings). Nowadays they spend a lot less time on their products which is why their libraries are good but not as truly great as they could be.

While reading the user manual, it appears that the Studio Strings Pro has bigger sections. Is it true ?

@@CoryPelizzari Yes, apparently, they mimic a 16 Violins 1 section blending different articulations (8 + 4A + 4B).

Go to his earlier video on the regular strings and there's a bunch in the description there... I use them a lot and just here to consider upgrading :)

Good price that is. I wonder if it's a coincidence that Spitfire chose 3 libraries in particular that I've covered on this channel to put on sale...
