Your channel is one of my favorites! I have about 10 Rosamund Pilcher books collected because of you ❤️ I just need to actually read them. And I'm looking forward to the Gladys Taber book! I think I'm going to try to read it this fall when I have lots of nursing and baby snuggling happening 🤭❤️

Julie Andrews movies are the best!. Home: A Memoir of My Early Years by her is a really great read. I had no idea about her childhood, so fascinating.

Great! I've not seen nor heard of those Pilchers. Not at our huge library. I have their chunky paperback Homecoming, by her. Thanks for bringing to our attention.

Absolutely! I haven't heard of them before either so I was pretty excited to find them. I'm a little intimidated by her really big novels, so it'll be fun to start with some of these shorter books. ❤️

Gina Stanyer also "got me into Rosamunde Pilcher. The first one I read was Winter Solstice, FANTASTIC! Gina spoke about it SOOO often. I found it at a library sale (hardcover) for 25¢. I am trying to collect all her bks. Some I bought brand new. I plan to read The Shell Seekers this summer. I am presently in a rehab after surgery (unexpected). I brought The Blue Bedroom in w/ me. It is a collection of Pitcher's short stories. Oh my! Soooo good. There hasn't been one I didn't like. 13 altogether. Did you know she has a son Robin who writes? Haven't read any of his yet. I read that Gladys Tabor bk. many, many yrs. ago. LOVE Potatoe Peel Pie! A few times I went back and just read some of the letters. Really enjoy epistolary bks. I'm a letter writer myself (pen and paper, NOT text). Also collect children's books. Very fussy about the illustrator. Tasha Tudor, Eloise Wilkins, Garth Brooks, Jan Brett some of my faves. I have a small collection of original L.G. Books most illustrated by Eloise Wilkins Baby Dear, My Book About God,etc. I totally agree w/ your statement about modern children's lit. Very sad. Sounds like we have similar tastes and opinions. I am enjoying alot of older women authors I never read (Gina). Have renewed my interest in Angela Thirlkell. Had some of her bks. A very long time ago and lost them😑 Never forgot them so Re-bought 3 recently because the library couldn't get them. Well, rambled on enough, that's what happens talking about bks! Enjoyed very much, thanks!

I haven't read anything by Angela Thirkell yet, but I've been very interested in the look of some of her books. I can't remember if my library has any of her books. I'll have to check! And I'm really looking forward to reading The Blue Bedroom short stories! I was just recently able to pick up a copy of it. And all of those children's book illustrators you mentioned are in my top favorites!! ❤️❤️

Great haul! I too, collect used children's books as I have my first grandbaby. I am a children's librarian, and I can't resist good picture books. I agree about loving the older books.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is great for newborns and rhythmic too. Wonderful color illustrations. My last child loved her copy at six weeks. It teaches intonation of our language and so colorful. Easy for infants to catch on to Alphabet sounds. Rather Calypso.

Thanks for another lovely video.❤ I'm just reading All Things Wild and Wonderful right now. I thought All Creatures Great and Small was the first book, some sites do list it as the first book but the Amazon box set includes If Only They Could Talk, so I guess you're right. I didn't even know I was missing one, thanks for the heads up!

It looks like you DO have the first book as published in the USA: Book 1 is All Creatures Great & Small; Book 2 is All Things Bright & Beautiful; Book 3 is All Things Wise & Wonderful; Book 4 is The Lord God Made Them All. See the Wikipedia article about James Herriot which gives the original UK titles and the corresponding US titles.
