The sheen on that silvertowne is what tipped me off to the fake even over video. Just looked off, but only right next to a real one. Harder to tell on its own especially online only

That and the stamping seamed a bit thicker as if it was traced over. Without a comparison, it would easily go unnoticed if you were not carefully looking.

I’ve purchased from the store and online. They do a great job.

Great video. Liked and subbed. I actually enjoy the collectables. I did buy an 1800s 5 franc that I couldnt verify on the Sigma but it did pass a 22k scratch test. Just tested a frends whole stack and found a few fakes, will do a video on them in coning days.

Very true. Hopefully we don’t unintentionally sell fake silver or gold to others. I do check my coins before selling. I also check after buying.

Informative vid bud. One sure way to spot a fake. If the spot on silver is 29 and you are getting an American Silver Eagle for 22 and change, it is a fake 100% of the time. People just don't throw away money.

I picked up a lot of the pre-1933 slabbed double eagles and the earlier pre1900 Liberty in the early years of my collection. I should probably sell some and get bullion Silver for stacking more to be balanced.

Diversification is always wise. Make sure you are comparing the right dates and condition when judging the price of your do decide to do so. If you have a rare date and they are in good condition, do consider an auction house.

That was incredible, can't believe all that fake gold.where is all that stuff produced? China? Must be an incredible facillty, like a propper mint. I am in the UK and watched a similar show of gold bars, only the Sigma could define it.

Probably a fun operation. As prices start hitting all time highs again and supply get harder to find, I’m guessing a lot more fakes will come out.

Graded doesn't make sense. Seems hard to sell if necessary because of the higher cost. Of course it is best to hold them but best to consider selling if need to. Collectables seems much harder to sell. Liquid raw coins seem better to me since you can sell easier while a lower value. May get burned sometimes but thats the con. Carry bullion to sell if need to. Anyone let me know your thoughts.

Bullion is the easiest to sell, however, pre-33 holds it premiums and out paces the price increase in premium faster than bullion. It’s not hard to sell either. In high demand now. Just be carful when buying that you don’t over pay.

They can't Take what they don't know you have!! Don't use a credit or debit card! Cash of MO! Pre 33 is nice and maybe hold a bit but bullion will be easier to use if a shift situation comes.

@@TravelingforlifeYou'll never get what you need, especially in smaller towns. You'll have to drive hundreds of miles. It's simple for people living very rurally to say just grow your own food. Lots of realities out there.

From a bullion buyer perspective, for pre-33 gold, is an XF with a very low premium worth the savings or is AU/BU really worth a bigger premium?

In my opinion it doesn’t make much difference unless it’s slabbed and graded mint state MS-62 or higher regardless of the year. If it’s also a common year, it doesn’t matter much. Granted, the nicer the coin condition, the easier it will sell and it could fetch a higher price. If it’s not slabbed, it’s very subjective on the grading.

What are your thoughts on slabbed national parks quarters graded by PCGS because I have one thats a limited edition Acadia silver quarter that’s graded PR 69 and the year is 2012 do you think I should sell it for more weight or just keep for profit??

Join my livestream with Nic’s Coins and we can give you more feedback. It all depends on what your goals are. I also like to look at the average price per ounce of my stack to determine when I’m getting to heavy in expensive silver.

Back in 1967,when I was 18,my Dad bought a 1927 Double Eagle BU for my 18th birthday. He bought it from my LCS for $58. That was the current retail price as gold was still $35 an ounce. In 1975 I became a coin dealer who was doing shows for a living. It had increased in value a bit so I put it in my showcase to sell. An old time dealer looked at it and he told me it was fake. Was made in the middle east using 99% pure gold. I went for a second opinion at it was the same. I sold it for it's bullion value. I cannot figure out why these were made as there sure was not much profit in making them with retail so low on the coin. Scary that it was made at the latest in 1967. That means that if one finds a collection from that period there is no guarantee that any gold coin is genuine!

That’s scary. Always test them. Graded coins can give some comfort but as you saw, those can still be faked as well.
