Liam Neeson Presents the Schindler's List 25th Anniversary Curriculum for Educators

I hope this curriculum guide will help you share with your students a meaningful understanding of the complicated man who was Oskar Schindler. I hope it will instill a vital determination to wipe out prejudice and racism wherever it is found, so that genocides like the Holocaust can never occur again.
I am asking teachers to please teach this story in schools. That’s the most immediate and important thing you can do so that our next generation will grow to be the citizens we want them to be, the citizens we need to protect our democracy.
Sincerely,
Liam

It's because the Oscars are nothing but a popularity show. It's not really measuring true talent or great films. it's whoever is "trending" at the moment. It's a hypocritical sham. That's why most of the great actors and great films have never won a single award. For instance, that is why actors like John Wayne, only won one award in his life when he deserved so many more... An Oscar doesn't mean anything... making an impact on the world and people, is an achievement enough, that needs no shiny trophy.

Yes I Agree,he was great in the role. He was like Shindler from the book' the Rightous Gentle', which he so Deserved to Become. That scene when the Survivers place stones on his grave is sad and Beautiful, thanking him in such a simple way,for their lives, some with relatives. Such fine movie. Liam Neeson spoke so well on the true meaning of the film. No Oscar for Oscar. 🇮🇱 shalom.

@@asafg8547 say what you want, Oscars are probably the most reliable award giving out of the many entertainment awards. E.g. Grammies, sports awards. It's not perfect but this movie did get multiple awards. If Liam did not get best actor, which I personally think he should have, then multiple producers and directors and cinematographers thought someone else deserved it more. Think about it, why would this movie get 2 or 3 Oscars, including best picture, but then at the same time not get an award due in another faculty due to whatever reason besides the award givers thinking it wasn't deserving

Only Liam Nesson can say this b/c he played Oscar Shindler' and he also played Bryan Mills in Taken and he always plays the GOOD GUY that's why I love him and his movies. Liam Nesson would win an oscar one day. Liam Nesson has always been known to take on rough roles he's great in everything he does. Shindler's List was when I really noticed him. He always plays the good guy roles.

Thank you, Liam Neeson, for the magnificent effort that you put into bringing out the character of Oskar Schindler. Truly powerful performance. I couldn't help rewinding over and over again to the scene where your character breaks down into Ben Kingsley's arms, constantly remorsing the fact that you could have saved more lives. It made me cry every time. This is truly an epic film. An ordinary man who performed an extraordinary feat, and to whom generations of Jews are forever indebted. An overwhelming amount of love and respect the Jews still have for Oskar Schindler. And to be buried in the land of the Jews, despite being a member of the very party that wanted to exterminate the race, is an honour very few could achieve in a lifetime.

True. I believe Germany had to bear the shame that Nazism brought upon it, and it bore heavy on the country for many years. And yet, a few glorious samaritans did all the good they could to wipe off the blemish of prejudice and make the world a better place. Adolf Hitler caused a lot of damage in his wake. I wouldn't care if that man were a great orator of sorts, but any being that lacks moral value and appreciation for human life is worth nothing. The world needs people like Oskar Schindler and Nicholas Winton more now than ever. With so many radical factions coming up such as ISIS, Neo-Nazism, etc., we need examples like them, just to make the world a better place to live in, that's all.

Like every group under tyranny, there were brave, humanitarian, collaborators, indifferent, ideologues, ambitious and simple hardworking patriots as well as foreign immigrants and resident aliens. I honestly don't know what I'd done unless spurred on by a great deaL of religious mercy from The Lord and and an acceptance of martyrdom's possibility. You had family to consider as well. Usually, although not 100% of the time, Nazis killed your whole family if you helped Jews or resisted. Many were brave and many died for such heroism. in the Third Reich. 4000 Jews were hidden in Berlin alone til 1945 Surrender and the occupation by the ALLIES.

People come across things at an early age, sometimes too early, but it should be as an individual. Not part of some "everybody must watch this, everybody must have the same reaction, everybody must be educated" and that's what happens far too often. And judging by the current politics amongst youngsters, it has backfired badly. I was born in the sixties, what we are seeing now in colleges would be unthinkable to my generation. Yet we weren't "lectured" in the way they are now.

Now I know why I was easily flabbergasted when I learned that history lesson during my college education on how the MPAA ratings system actually started! It has easily come under fire by being somehow treated as a set of barriers from whichever audience any film in particular most likely deserves to be shown to, because the Holocaust is arguably considered to be one of the most significant events in which adolescents under 17 are expected to learn about, at least in the case of my respective experiences growing up. In fact, I admittedly thought it was perfect timing for the 25th anniversary reissue to occur right around the time time as the ratings system's 50th anniversary!

I'm supposedly expecting the theaters to be the same for the 30th anniversary reissue this year, which I thought I'd perfectly describe as "sardine tins of teens."

There is still another film to do. The German people who could not believe it was their own doing this. Their disgust at what was happening, how they formed their own resistance to help the allies. The enormous risks they took daily to do so, how they feared that the world would see that all German people were the same as the regime. I lived next-door to a resistance worker for many years and there is so much more to be known. Miss Brooks

I understand how horrible the Nazis treated the Jewish people. The most horrifying part of the movie was the bodies being dug up and being burned. The best part was your breaking down and crying when your character couldn't save more lives. That was powerful and great acting. Thank you for portraying him Mr. Neeson.

As the saying goes: Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Seeing the past atrocities unfold to us, with modern films especially, shows us why our history is so important; many conflicts are born from hatred, ignorance and greed. If we don't learn anything from history, we would only be perpetuating this cycle of pain and suffering. But just like atrocities, there are small sparks of hope in these bleak, dire and hopeless points of history. Schindler was one of those who did everything in his power to save as many lives as he could, proving that though humans may be capable of such abominable acts, they can also do much good. To quote the film, "whoever saves one life, saves the world entire".

Nobody with any sense disputes the horrors of WW2. What bothers me is the actions of Israel, in spite of what the were once subjected to. I believe the opposite of "Whoever saves one life saves the world entire" applies, too.

That's Hollywood!!! It's become a washed up relic just doing remakes of films. No imagination in Hollywood anymore. Just "Make it fast and get it out there"! You can't even afford to go to the movies anymore. When I was a kid, I remember great movies we could see for $2.00 at a Saturday matinee. Now you damn near have to mortgage your house just for a night out at the movies! Today, I just wait for it to come out on T.V. and watch in the comfort of my own home.
