EDIT: I actually got my train stations + city's mixed up. My bad! It was Gare du Nord to du Gare de I'Est. This movie hit way too close for comfort. In 2003 I was in Paris going from Gare de Nord to Gare de Sud about 8am on a Sunday morning. I was heading to the airport to go home to Australia. I had walked part way when I noticed a couple of guys following me but on the other side of the street. Then another guy in front of me slowed down n tried to make conversation. He offered to help carry my overnight bag but when I declined the offer n tried to continue walking he got a little aggressive n then the two guys on the other side crossed over towards me n stood around me saying that they could take me to Gare de Sud by car. I had a very bad feeling. Thankfully, but unbeknownst to me at the time, there had been a group of friends, (one guy + two girls), walking about 200 metres behind n they hurriedly came up calling out to me saying "Hey there you are. We've been looking for you! You must've taken the wrong street". They hugged me as if we were friends n that spooked the three guys who then quickly took off. I don't know what their true intentions were but I don't believe it was to help me. Thank the Lord above for those three beautiful French strangers that morning. 🙏😊💙

I love hearing these little tidbits from fantastic actors who don't care for the lines that end up being the most iconic and memorable lines in the film. It gives some incredible insight into the effectual melding of a group of capable creators playing their part and maximizing their function within a role; from script-writing, to acting, to relentless pursuit of the perfect shot in the directing and producing of the piece. 👨🍳💋

Because in 2008 Liam neeson was in a low point of his career, the last huge movies he did were in 2005 with Kinsey & Batman Begins but then he did this little action flick with not a huge budget and not everyone was prepared to Liam neeson as an action star but the result was a fucking great action thriller with two unnecessary sequel. 2 was ok but 3 was fucking terrible. The first is always so fun and engaging to watch. I loved that movie, it made more than 220 milion dollars at the box office on a budget of 25 milion and everyone loved it and that was a huge comeback for Liam neeson career

There have been plenty of great, dark, threatening lines in action movies, but almost none as good as this - AND usually the brutal lines like this are reserved for the antagonists. Honestly, probably the best fucking line in any action movie; better than "I'll be back" and "Do ya, feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?". And I can't imagine many other actors delivering that line with that sort of gravitas. Liam was the perfect choice for this.

One important aspect of the movie which many seems to ignore was strategic decision making, which was my most favorite part. Yeah he unleashed his particular set of skills on the bad guys but have you paid attention to the timing. A key plot point was that he had to recover his girl within 48 hours or she will be lost forever. He acted brilliantly to show he wasn't sure if she'd be alright but he had steadfast determination to execute a strategy to retrieve his girl unharmed within the critical time period. He has to strategize, call on all his resources and apply his particular set of skills to ensure he retrieved his girl and applied the particular set of skills in the process of doing so. He wasn't just going out and kicking the bad guys' backsides for the purpose of vengeance which most Hollywood action movies have been usually known for. Here the protagonist was intelligent and deadly, while the movie (first one) was smooth, quick and to the point (low on fluff). They even afforded him time to recalibrate and rest up at times, all of which made this one of the best pure action movies out of Hollywood. Also for a ~90 minute movie the small amount of time afforded to character development was utilized amazingly well. We can understand the attributes of all important characters to a great degree.

I think people like characters with a shade of mystery to them that have more insight and experience than everyone else. That’s why you like Gandalf in LoTr or Yoda in Star Wars. 🙏😊💙

Imagine the kidnapper on the other end yelling to his pals "I don't know man, I've got a bad feeling about this---did you hear his freaking voice! And his skills, his particular skills--that can't be good"
I love hearing these little tidbits from fantastic actors who don't care for the lines that end up being the most iconic and memorable lines in the film. It gives some incredible insight into the effectual melding of a group of capable creators playing their part and maximizing their function within a role; from script-writing, to acting, to relentless pursuit of the perfect shot in the directing and producing of the piece. 👨🍳💋
It was not only fun watching Liam take all these guys down one by one, but I think the movie was also successful because it played on every father’s deepest fear. The only difference is that most fathers would be pretty much helpless, having to rely on the authorities .
“The success of taken was a total surprise.” Seriously? It was written by Luc Besson… a master of action thrillers, from Leon: The Professional, to The Fifth Element, Taxi and Nikita.

Great Actor, Great voice 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors. Own almost all his movies.
I believe the success is based on the fact every father fantasizes that he would be able to do the same in a similar circumstance while the sons and daughters fantasize that their father would be able to save them, then there are those who wish for just endings to all those horrific cases that do in reality happen.
Sounds like a guy who isn't on the Jedi Council

neeson Liam doesn't just mean these memorable lines! It means humanity and love!♥️♾️
He’s just flat out an awesome actor dam good movies.

Old dudes from the 80s: Arnold, Sylvester, Bruce, Li, Chan, and also Liam are action legends despite their age. Also diverse: Austrian, Italian American, German American, Chinese, Hong Kong, and Irish.

I think people like characters with a shade of mystery to them that have more insight and experience than everyone else. That’s why you like Gandalf in LoTr or Yoda in Star Wars. We never know the full extent of what they’re capable of or the depth of their experience. Which adds an exciting mystery to them.

I was a teen in the mid 90's and grew up with Die Hard, Lethal Weapon and similar action flicks. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first Matrix, but after that and in to the 2000's I felt like alot of the action movies became to complicated and sci fi'y. Taken was like a homage to the good old 90's action for me and they did everything right. And casting Liam was offcourse a brilliant move.

The Charismatic Liam Neeson!
Liam Neeson should be in a Expandable movie 🍿
The John Wick’s father
The first movie was something I'd never experienced as a younger viewer but then the second movie came around and the bad guy dies because Liam Neeson pushes him into a coat hanger. Then the third comes out and there's a shot of 16-17 different cuts of Liam jumping over a fence. For the life of me I have a hard time trying to get that out of my head lol
He's a brilliant actor
