Riley Gaines is obviously not an erudite person cognitively, she had an egregious dereliction of duty to by waiting 1 year to really begin deriding Will Thomas. It’s another way that men are taking away female rights. My daughter doesn’t even understand that she’s giving away the rights that I fought for when I was younger. They’re all brainwashed. Maybe they believe this nonsense that you are what you want to be. And biology means nothing. No, transgender women actually have a disadvantage. In order to compete in sport, they have to comply with the Olympic committee or similar sports bodies rules about testosterone. Basically, they have to maintain a female hormonal profile for at least a year before competing. A year on female hormones with testosterone suppressed will effectively melt their muscles. Any advantage they had of a testosterone built body has now vanished. They may still be taller than the average women, but they don’t have the muscle mass to shift those long bones. They are effectively like a small car pulling a big trailer. There are many trans women here on Quora who used to compete at elite level as men, but once they transitioned, they were not able to compete as women, they had lost too much muscle. The thing is, trans women are expected to maintain a hormone profile of a normal cis woman, but most athletes are not normal. They are taller, stronger, faster, and often with higher testosterone than other women. That’s why they are athletes. The easy way to show this is to look at the Olympics. This rule come in 20 years ago, and since then ONE trans woman has qualified for the Olympics and she did not medal. If trans women were competing on a level playing field, you’d expect to see about 0.5% of the medals going to trans women. So far, not one has stood on a podium.

@@joefoley1480 Transgender people can never be cisgender people even if they don’t transition. Those feelings simply don’t go away. They have differing psychology and outlook on life to the sex they were born with. And transition is helpful but sometimes is like a bandaid on a huge gash. They do the best they can to make themselves whole and happy. So, that is why I consider trans people to be the gender they say they are and not their birth sex. Because, inside their hearts and spirits they really are.

"For photo purposes, Lia HAS to have the trophy." This is proof they are pushing the agenda. We all need to speak up and fight against this!!

The indoctrination starts in school very young my youngest went through it she wS telling me when she was 11/12 ir the lgbtq+ stuff then a of a sudden after going on about male actors she fancied. She messages in a huff coz she felt ignored while we was out for a meal, that she's a lesbian and doesn't care what I think. She gotnso mad that I said it didn't matter to me, then when I pointed out ifbshe fancies men aswell like she claimed that actually makes her Bi.. to this she screamed no I'm not your just HOMOPHOBIC.. even my frien who's gay told her the schools are just indoctrination heard. Funnily enough she wouldn't even kiss a girl and now years down line after meeting a lady she fancied declared she's straight but all dramatically. I hate our governments they planned all this crap

How can an organization claim to be “inclusive” but condemn 90% of their participants for being uncomfortable in their own private spaces?!

I cried after that race. Watching Riley stand in the background with that shell-shocked look on her face, like she wasn't sure it was really happening. I remember thinking, "Is no one going to even acknowledge the fact that this young woman just paced a biological male in an athletic event?" It was heartbreaking for me. I remember years back I was working in my city shopping centre and needed toilet so popped into it was either Starbucks or cost co & there was only a toilet that was apparently unisex small with 3 cubicles I'd never guard of such a thing but felt so uncomfortable having yo try and go with men in the cubicles with me.

Never in my life did I think gaslighting would become the norm and shaming women for not wanting to get undressed in front of a male would be a thing in the future… unreal

As a former swimmer myself and having witnessed how unfair the sport was to women and how hard they had to work to get the recognition they deserve it's more than sad to see what this Thomas guy has done to them. Either make him swim against others who have XY chromosomes or make "trans" folks compete against other "trans" folks. Leave women's sports to actual women. More power to you Riley!

I swam in college too, I think I would just cry if I was standing behind the block to swim my last event of the season and a man just appears next to me..

For those unaware. Riley is now giving speeches and being physically attacked for doing so. We have to support her as much as possible. Lauren Southern is also back on the scene, and has also been attacked a lot on this subject.

In solidarity with their female counterparts, perhaps she should have some male athletes accompany her. Like weight lifters or football players. These cowardly men dressed as women, might think twice then before attacking her again.

I am sure that many of those coaches have daughters of their own. How could they then tolerate this? As was stated in the clip - if a parent supports what is being done to these real women then they don't deserve to be a parent. I think that the new university Diversity - Equity - Inclusion departments have likely laid down strict policies that leave no room for argument against this. This is continuing to spread well beyond the university environment. We think we have problems with attacks on young children now - wait a few years when this tolerance works into all levels of society. All of us need to be as vocal as Riley.

Especially when she is dumped by sponsors. I don't really count this type of dependency, cause I bet if she had to, she is absolutely able to get herself a regular job to be financially independent. So I think she is still independent if she had to. I don't count dependence on Family. But still I can understand your view.

Well if this doesn't lead to these men having to return their medals and their records erased than there isn't a reason for any female athlete to continue pursuing sports career.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against the ncaa and the collages that force this on our DAUGHTERS. What they are doing is child abuse and discriminatory anyway you look at it.

We must understand that this is a deliberate attempt to cow and condition the general public for daring to stand up to the power elites. Not sure traditional institutional remedies can be the answer since those are controlled at the top. Sad, but we are all being gas lighted and having our cages rattled. Perhaps, over time, the people at the top will change and we can go back to some degree of normalcy. But I wouldn't expect it to happen anytime soon.

I’m a female surfer (not competitive) and I was PERMANENTLY BANNED from the Surfing subreddit group for voicing agreement when surfer Bethany Hamilton (girl whose arm was bitten off by a shark) came out against Trans surfers competing in the women’s division. Permanently banned and the moderator wouldn’t even answer me WHY I was banned - I said nothing rude! Let me tell you how defeating that felt. They’re literally taking our “voices” away 😢

The way trans activists try to exploit gays and lesbians, is disgusting. Any criticism, and they accuse you of being "anti-LGBT', hiding behind the goodwill that gays and lesbians have EARNED in the last few decades, and trying to conflate the (ridiculous) demands of trans activists, with "accepting gays and lesbians". Virtually everyone supports the rights of gays and lesbians, today. But trans activists are trying to exploit that support, and piggyback THEIR OWN biology-denying claims, onto that acceptance. But the demands of trans activists are FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT to the issues of gays and lesbians, now, or 20 years ago. Males in women's sports, in women's prisons, in women's changerooms and bathrooms. The chemical sterlization and mutililation of children (often children who'd grow up to BE gay/lesbian)- NONE of these issues have any comparison, in what gays and lesbians ever wanted. And the irony is, that trans ideology is OPPOSED to gays/lesbians; Trans ideology defines ANY acknowledgment of sex as being "hateful, bigotted transphobia". So being same-SEX attracted (rather than "same-GENDER attracted", which has never been a thing) is inherently "transphobic", exactly like a straight man who won't sleep with "trans women", and vice versa.

The average female height is 5 foot 4. I used to be a national level swimmer when I was younger. This never happened 10 years ago. It's suddenly blown up. Biological males are taking advantage of this. And I see this first hand at school in Canada. I can no longer use the washroom at school because biological males use them and they are tall enough to see over the stall. I'm now forced to hold my bladder all day at school or go off campus to use a washroom. Woman's rights are regressing back to the 1900s. I'm a biological woman and I've been Followed by a male into a woman's washroom and harrased and assaulted. I will not be silent. I stand with biological woman. I'm not going to be quiet about my experiences with males in woman's private spaces. I'm scared for my safety.

Transgender women have a right to play in sports. Here's a comment I found: I'm a trans woman. Like most of us, I don't care at all about being able to participate in elite sports. Mostly, Lia Thomas's case is used as a bludgeon against us, not because people give an actual damn about women's sports. Let me tell you a story about myself (I've told it before, some people here may be familiar with it). I was a gymnast as a teen; a trans girl gymnast, to be precise. My parents and I wanted to avoid all controversy, so I didn't try to participate in any formal competitions; nor did I even get changed with the other girls. I was on puberty blockers, later cross-sex hormones. I looked like your average petite Asian girl, not threatening in the least. We bent over backwards to not create offense, because we had plenty of other things to deal with already. But it didn't help. While the other girls didn't mind, several of the parents did. I got called a "thing" and an "it." There was nothing I could have done to appease them or to do anything about the repulsion they felt. They were simply not okay with the "little freak" breathing the same air as their daughters. Hardly any of these people care about women's sports normally, let alone fairness in women's sports. Ask any of them to name five female swimmers and I guarantee you that almost all won't be able to. There are tons of other issues that plague women's sports and most of these people don't care about any of them, let alone being able to name them. It's primarily benevolent sexism with the goal of protecting cishet white girls from undesirables. Have you seen the picture of Iowa governor Kim Reynolds signing an anti-trans sports bill that primarily targets trans school girls, surrounded by all white girls, almost all of them blonde? It could serve as a dictionary illustration for the freaking fourteen words. So, you have to understand that much of the debate around Lia Thomas has the goal of driving discrimination. (Not all of that, but the minority who are actually interested in women's sports are also a lot more divided on the topic than the loud majority.) If you actually want to get down to the sports science, things do get complicated, but I'm also not in the mood to write an essay length treatise on it again.

Here are some things to consider, though: - Nobody seriously disagrees that eligibility for the female category can be regulated, especially in elite sports. - At the same time, there is no rationale that can serve as a categorical blanket ban for all trans women and girls and that only takes biological sex differences, fairness and safety into account. Any law that bans all trans girls and women from sports without exception, especially school sports, can be safely assumed to be motivated by discrimination alone. - A key problem is that there is no actual biomarker that can be used to separate men and women as categories, let alone one that is relevant for sports. The actual primary factor that drives almost all sex differentiation for sports (hormones) is not only a characteristic that (unlike weight classes) overlaps between men and women, but isn't immutable over time. - For example, consider this case report about a female elite youth soccer player. This is a cis girl, with XX chromosomes and female reproductive organs, but one who also has male levels of testosterone more typical of a boy her age (2 ng/ml = 200 ng/dl = approx. 6.9 nmol/l). For purposes of sports, she's going through a male puberty. - The athletic capabilities of men and women form overlapping distributions; unlike for weight classes, there is no objective demarcation line. This requires special rules for athletes that fall in gray areas and they're almost certain to require subjective judgment calls. - HRT/SRS essentially induce an artificial intersex condition; for purposes of sports, trans girls and women are functionally intersex and any attempt to draw a line to put them into an artificial binary requires subjective judgment calls, especially as there's not a single type of trans woman. (Fun fact: there are even trans women who have actual intersex conditions; there are trans women who have XX chromosomes or a uterus.)

- There is reason to believe that trans women are (on average) biologically distinct from cis men even before having started HRT; even prior to HRT they have bone density that's comparable to that of cis women, not cis men. And they seem to have lower grip strength and less muscle mass than cis men (but higher than cis women) also prior to HRT. It was long believed that this was because gender dysphoria resulted in lower physical activity, but not only can't we see the same phenomenon in trans men, but even studies where there is no statistical significant difference in physical activity between trans women and cis male controls seem to show statistically significant differences in bone density, muscle mass, and grip strength. - Nobody argues that HRT reverts the effects of male puberty; it is widely agreed that this doesn't happen, but it's also not what we're looking at. Male puberty does not only convey advantages, but also (sometimes situtational) disadvantages, and female puberty also conveys some advantages (for example, women being more flexible). The disadvantages of male puberty and advantages of female puberty are normally small and dwarfed by testosterone-powered increases in muscle mass and oxygen-carrying capacity of blood. If you take the latter away - or even just mostly away - it can become really difficult to figure out where a trans woman stands relative to a cis woman. Also importantly, this may play out differently by type of sport. For example, being bigger and taller is not necessarily an advantage, especially if you don't have the muscle mass to lug that weight around. Tifanny Abreu is a trans female Brazilian pro volleyballer who was competing in the male pro leagues before she transitioned. The typical difference in attack jump height between male and female volleyballers is 20-25 cm. Abreu lost 32 cm off her attack jump height as a result of her transition. As a result of all this, we are in a "too close to call" situation in elite sports. For example, while Lia Thomas has shown a relative improvement between her performance vs. men when she started HRT and her performance vs. women when she started to compete against women 2.5 years later, that improvement is not anywhere out of line with the improvements athletes can show over the course of their college careers, especially if they also have a serious mental health condition addressed over the same time.

I may not be able to name five female swimmers right now, but when my nieces (if they choose to do anything competitively), I will know them. And I will be upset if there is a boy taking titles from them. I can't begin to imagine the struggles of those who truly struggle with gender dysphoria, but in the Thomas case, I do not feel bad for him. He was a below average swimmer in the men's division, then went to the women's and stole opportunities from girls. I would be pissed if my nieces were put in this situation. I can be empathetic and logical at the same time. I do not promote hate at all to other humans, but I do ask people to think logically along with being empathetic.

He's a former fighter and has worked for the UFC doing fight commentary. Said the guy just brutilized her. Don't quote me on this part, but I think he said he shattered her eyesocket.

I have seen a clip of an all trans game (transmen and transwomen) - one of the men ('transwomen') slightly tackles one of the women ('transmen') who ends up flat on the ice unconscious. It didn't look deliberate at all, in fact I believe they all played in good faith, but just the sheer mass difference on ice becomes very dangerous. It is horrible and incredibly misogynist to think women are just men without testosterone.

What a sensible young woman Riley is, she is definitely the one to fight this battle, this is one they as women cannot afford to lose.

These people need to be held accountable and the people in that college who allowed it to happen, immediately fire them.

My daughters were swimmers and as a parent, when this all came out, I said nothing will change until the athletes speak out! So happy that you are taking on this fight!! I really hope that more female athletes join the fight!!

Your voice needs to be heard all over the world. Our daughter who is 9 is in competitive swimming was forced to go into a universal change room. As we entered there was a naked 12 year old boy…I immediately took her out of there in shock and disbelief. This is NOT OK. Make change rooms for those who want to be different and keep boys and girls separate. I don’t want my daughter changing with boys, going to the wash with boys… this is a violation of her privacy. Moving forward I call ahead to make sure my 9 year old daughter is safe changing. This needs to stop!

Yup. Before Elon took over Twitter, I received a 3 day (or maybe it was 7 day, I forget now) Twitter lock out for telling a trânsgender womân that he's a mân. The guy stil had his law school graduation photo up where he was obviously a man. He decided to "transition" after graduation and was wearing makeup and likely taking hormones too.

I'm an ex competitive gymnast. I was coached by a brilliant woman who came from nothing in Romania (an Olympic athlete herself representing Romania in Montreal). In the video, you can see that they both got a trophy for 5th place tie. Lia’s not 6’4”…everyone else says 6’1”. Also, Lia was a long way off from breaking any women’s swim records … she did win one event at the ncaa but also way way off the ncaa record for the event (9 seconds). With the new rules, Lia will never compete in the Olympics against women.
