LGR - Top 17 Worst PC Games

Ойындар

Tired of all those lists of the "worst" games that are actually just commonly-known sub par games? I am. So I made this list. These aren't just "mediocre" games... this is my worst of the worst. Keyword: MY list. This is 100% subjective and my own opinion, nothing more.
● Please consider helping support LGR on Patreon! / lazygamereviews
Consists of the top 17 worst PC games that I own. I actually collect these games somewhat, seeking out the worst crap as a matter of twisted pride and a weird guilty pleasure of bad games.

Awesome video! I remember in the 90s companies popped out of nowhere and flooded shelves with garbage! They blew their entire budget on fancy boxes that contained crap that smelled so bad the cat kept trying to bury it in the litter box. And they had you by the short hairs because wherever you purchased the game from always had huge signs that stated: "No returns on open games" thus relieving the store of any liability. The internet was in its infancy, so there was no KZread, or Twitch, where you could watch the game being played before buying it. I think that's why crap companies faded away, there's no more bait and switch anymore. Like you, I had a box full of this crap. Some never worked at all. In fact, I was so excited when I purchased Alien vs Predator. Got it home and installed it on my Win98 system, only to have it crash the OS so hard I had to reformat the thing... I did get it working for about 30min once, and it seemed like a cool game, until it crashed my system hard again. I never tried installing it anymore. Some of the games I wish hadn't worked, because they were just awful. There are still some awful games today, but they don't last very long once the word gets out.

Games like these make you wonder if the Devs/producers even played through them completly, succeeded/won, and then said "yeah this is a good game, sell it". I have a hard time believing that most crappy titles that are nearly impossible to enjoy, were even beaten by the people who made the game itself.

Outpost was a good game in my book. It just had the great misfortune to run afoul of money grubbing executives like so many games do when large powerhouse publishers are involved. With some TLC I think the basic concepts of the game could really polished and a fantastic city builder of a title could emerge.

Long ago, around the time you made this video, maybe a year or two before it I saw the reviews of Big Rigs start to roll in. I almost bought that game from Half price books when it first came out because I like trucks. From the first review, to this very day I wonder if I dodged a bullet or missed an opportunity to be on the ground floor of something that would soon be famous... Had a few DOS games that could have made this list if I still had the Hard drive they came on, or their names for that matter. I guess it would not matter anyway because I don't think they came on disks but had likely been distributed on user boards, or something. I'm really glad you do reviews on old tech though, I mean this was good but everyone wants to talk about the new hot tech thing coming out, new game machines, or "retro" things. Not too many people make in depth reviews, or share information about the computers that came before, and you do, and I like listening to you talk about that stuff. I would say subbed, but I've been subbed for a bit now.

At 02:43 he demonstrates "Depth Dwellers" (I've never seen it before, let alone playing it. Maybe it's for the good reason.) Just listening to those shooting sounds makes me lol, because they are not gun shots, those are farting sounds. Therefore, he does not shoot at the enemies, he poops at them. Yet, those sounds alone don't make me want to play this game. No, thank you. I'd rather poop at the game itself.

Depth Dweller had one semi-redeeming quality. It had built in 3d-glasses mode (of red/blue variety), which was kinda cool. (Type "Depth Dweller 3d effect" and you'll see what I'm talking about) I remember my friend and I made ourselves 3d-glasses from colored transparent plastic sheets. We were like: "Wow, dude, that's like totally radical! Virtual reality and shit..." It was fun for about 15 minutes. Personally, my worst 3d-game of that time would be The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki. It's just rubbish all around with no redeeming qualities.

I actually beat TMNT on the PC in 1988 or 1989 by hacking the game myself to get past that spot. I swapped the level maps for that one area so I could glitch past there to the next save spot--which wasn't easy, since the graphics turned to dark colored garbage as I stumbled my way through. Regardless, I cannot imagine there were many other humans who beat PC version at the time. :)
