EA has a license to make star wars themed games and add-ons and it expires in a year or so So the only reason the star wars pack even is in the Sims is because of the soon to expire license

Sweet Treats was at least an oddity. Most Sims 3 expansion packs were solid, and the stuff packs, while boring and overpriced, weren't downright insulting. So Sweet Treats ended up being strangely fascinating in what a bafflingly awful idea it was. Sims 4 has lowered the bar so much that everyone looks at Journey to Batuu and thinks "Oh look, yet another shameless cashgrab." I think what it says more than anything is that the standard for the series has plummeted to the point that something like that isn't even so bad it's interesting, just so bad it's tiring. People don't even bother dissecting it, because they know what's up and they're used to it.

If it had added a proper Jedi/ Sith life state and had been set in one of the older series timelines and had really in depth gameplay akin to a Sims 3 expansion pack I would not have minded the gimmicky nature of the pack. But that much money for such little effort seems insulting to ask for.

@@yamap1 I don't own sims 4, nor do I intend to. Edit: I love sims 3. I refuse to allow the shenanigans that sims 4 is doing. This pack just seems like seasons but only the winter and some asthetic stuff. If I wanted a Japanese aesthetic, I will find myself elsewhere.

If it was added in Sims 3 it would have included animations (but only for teens through elders for some reason) AND death lol Seriously, I think that game had more ways to die than any of the others lol

@@BooDotBoo this isn't an expansion or anything, but I was showing my friend who never played ts3 how it has an open world and wasn't going to keep playing that sim after so I didn't decorate the house. I didn't know sims can sit on the side of their bathtub and eat xD I've never had a house with no chairs at all so I'd literally never seen that and freaked a bit ahaha

@@aleksattebery Yeah, I'd definitely like to hear his thoughts. I think he said on twitter that he'd probably do a video about it one day. But I get where he's coming from. It must feel like such a waste of time to put care and energy into reviewing a pack that even the developers put so little effort into making. I guess for Journey to Batuu it felt especially pointless because we all already know its crap! (Still, I'd love to hear him absolutely destroy it one day!)

I remember when the community was *praising* Maxis for reskinning the science table for kids instead of selling us the activity table for the sixth time. I mean, the bar has never been so low for 40€ DLCs in the industry.

@@biscuitcase83 It’s trendy because it’s true. A lot of people aren’t satisfied with The Sims 4 so that makes a trend. I think the only players “jumping on the trend” might be those that haven’t experienced the whole franchise or at least another sims game prior to TS4. But for the most part, i think many of us just agree that there’s room for improvement.

This pack reminds me of Island Living - beautiful world and build mode but not much gameplay

But even then, I think Island Living had more than Snowy Escape. More CAS items, more build/buy items, more jobs (full, part, and odd), mermaids. While Snowy Escape has a visually stunning world that is definitely up there on having one of the best worlds, the pack itself I think is probably at the bottom when it comes to EPs.

In all honesty, if outdoor retreat, jungle adventure and snowy escape were all rolled up into one 40 or even 50 dollar expansion pack, LGR would end up with the most positive review since the sims 3 days

I agree i remember the days of sims vacation/on holiday while the world was just a single word it felt like 3 worlds in one with the snowy areas, the beach areas and the camping areas. Yes there’s *a little* more detail in the sims 4 locations but it would be so much better if they were all together

That's literally ALL Sims 4 is at this point. The fact that they had game changers help, but all those game changers are builders... sigh. It's like, they seem to only focus on the world, build/buy, and CAS.... gameplay is a complete afterthought and it really shows the longer this game is out. I'm just glad I stopped being addicted to the sims back during Sims 3; I'd be upset if all I was really paying for was set dressing. This game is too expensive to be as empty as it is.

What the Heck is the same in Snowy Escape and Island living!? Island living is a pack about living on an island, mermaids, the ocean, etc., snowy escape is a mountain world, has a bunch of Japanese culture, is more thrill seeking etc., also, I can’t imagine that they would add two worlds into one EP bc like, you can’t really add snowboarding into an island world, or the ocean into a snowy mountain world. Putting this into island living literally has no point.,

@@lannamcf no some of us haven't as we're not paying $40 ($60 in my country) for ski animation alone and we're trying to determine what else it has before we even contemplate buying it on sale. Sentiments seem like the only other thing and they just seem like extended buffs - so still no real personality or chemistry for the sims and I don't see anything else new in any of the reviews or lets play.

I got tired of Sims 3 by the end of it. Sims 4 I'll never play again. I tend to think the games need more to do...not just in terms of animations but making a few things a mini game, maybe not everything but some of it. Give us some input. Maybe even letting us ignore that input if we don't want to do it and it randomises based on how the sims are and their skills if they pull it off/have a good time whatever. I dunno, when the whole thing is click something and an animation plays it gets old. I'd like to take part in that animation, you know, like a game.

The perfect Sims game: The music and dry humor from Sims 1. The depth and detail of Sims 2 expansions. The core gameplay and create-a-style-feature from Sims 3. But stable. The character design, fashion and small details from the Sims 4. As well as the addon content tiers. (I actually enjoy gameplay packs the most.)

@Sarah Absolutely. I should play all those games again to get a more profound and factually correct opinion on this but one of the interesting aspects of The Sims (and its spin offs, yes) was the outdated yet timeless nature of all the objects and fashion in it. Its not just about referencing 2000's stuff but a weird mixture of everything that came before that as well. I would say that every main game after the first one tried to include more and more contemporary stuff. The Sims 4, especially, is trying so hard to be totally up-to-date and hip that it makes me cringe sometimes.

So this is a pack that has been getting praised to high heavens by the community and I think it has nothing to do with its actual content. I find this pack very lackluster for 40$ especially because tons of the things that came out around the time this EP came out, were free updates. Platforms, Sentiments, Rental lots are all free updates, yet because they came out at around the same time and were much requested features people fail to realize that this pack in itself, doesn't offer much. tbh it's fine, i'm enjoying it. Probably bc i'm more of a builder so this pack really has a lot for me. I also love Japan and this pack is probably my most anticipated addition. As far as gameplay, i love what they added but i feel like they could've added a lot more and left some of the things they took out. The shrine bowing could've stayed with the option of not bowing, taking selfies in front of gravestones with the result of being embarassed could've stayed. Include also the possibility of bringing your deceased loved ones to the graveyard. I would've loved for the train to be a usable form of transportation. I would've loved for a macha making mini skill, a martial arts skill, a calligraphy skill, i think they could've also put something to represent buddhism, not just shinto. They should've also included a Chouzu-ya to purify your hands before praying, i mean they say "build your sanctuary" but there is no praying, no worshipping, nothing of the sort, maybe have a temple with monks from whom you can learn ancient knowledge. Maybe also add the mangaka active career, when you can draw comics for a living from your home and sell them. Kinda like Island Living, this pack is great for builders but gameplay-wise it felt a lot deeper in the trailers....

I also believe this pack has been getting high praise from the community because the community partially worked on it; a couple of Sims KZreadrs built the lots for the pack so they certainly won't criticize it. I feel like the Sims community is so used to getting sh*tty packs that whenever they get something decent they're over-enthusiastic but in reality, EA is just doing a bad job with the series ... I'm glad LGR still continues to do these because I might be the only honest Sims reviewers online, and I know he said in another video that he was invited by EA to be part of the "game changers" program, or whatever it is called, and he refused to be as truthful as possible when it comes to reviewing their packs.

"Journey to Disneyworld" is the most review we're getting, I guess. 😂😂

well they've pretty much concluded that everyone who was going to buy Sims 4 has already bought it, so they either have to make Sims 5 and try to fix all the horrible mistakes they made in Sims 4....or milk the SHIT out of the people who did buy Sims 4. They have until paralives and whatever Sims game paradox is cooking up comes out to actually have to try.

I'm a Call of Duty fan and I just recently got into the Sims 4 in September. I think it's great that a game that came out in 2014 still has content being released but I think 6 years is due for new game. Call of Duty is extremely repetitive because of it's yearly releases and I skipped a bunch of them after Ghosts and only recently got back with Modern Warfare. Some series like that should just release a game every 4 years and just keep adding content for the players. It also sucks when games like Fallout or The Elder Scrolls come out and all DLC is released within a year and then you have to wait another 4 years for new content in form of a new game

I think thats why everyone praise it for been made my other player and not made by EA as EA can´t build homes. in fact several homes are barely functional meaning Sims would die in them or have other problem. something the player can´t see as none player sims are more or less static. like in one of the building the Kitchen dont work. so sims have to eat yoghurt 24/7. the ones here all works all looks good. every room is made for something.

i feel like we kind of need to talk about the fact that all of them were white though. theyre good builders but i feel like it was a missed opportunity to highlight some builders of color, especially someone who is japanese themselves. probably wouldnt have been too hard to find if they had bothered to look.

I love how every time a new Sims 4 pack comes out, Lgr sounds more and more tired and frustrated in his videos (I don't know if it's just me lol. No hate!). I get him tho. @@OnionTheBat Excuse my French, but you are a tremendous idiot. Pay careful attention to the multitasking feature you're praising. Watch your Sims eat food while chatting or watch TV while chatting. You'll quickly notice that infact, the multitasking system is little more than a basic program that tells them to cycle back and forth between the two actions. When they're watching TV, they're not chatting. When they're chatting, they're not watching TV and the fun meter stops. Thus, in an ironically pathetic way, Sims 2, Sims 3 and *EVEN SIMS 1* have more advanced multitasking than Sims 4, because all three could combine social + TV/eating whilst Sims 4 does those worse. Sims 4 has to cycle out everything and has *ZERO* instances of multitasking where your Sims are truly doing two things simultaneously. You are praising a feature that factually doesn't exist. You've been swindled by their marketing and have been blind to the reality in front of you.

Sims 4 is just a big-ass photoshoot, really.

A missed opportunity to add futons in this pack, could've been as easy as having an extra interaction with the closet to take one out (which would be added to the sims inventory). If you click on it in the inventory you would get Place in World/ Put Away (which makes your sim put it back into the closet). If placed then you could Sleep/ Nap/ Put in Inventory/ Put Away and ofc Wohoo With..

I watch these for LGR and haven't played Sims 4 in years. I'm surprised they're still releasing these packs.

@@D0NU75 After sims 3 I thought I would never play again, I had most of the packs. But then quarantine struck and S4 was 90% off and EPs were 50% off , so I got base game and 2 eps for less than 50$. There is no way I’d pay full price for any of it. I’m having fun, but I can’t see myself playing years and years like I did S2 and S3. It’s quite sad.

Tbh watching your Sims 4 reviews feels WAY more enjoyable than purchasing and playing the game itself

In the old days even EA was much more edgy like with "Road Rash". And I doubt Ubisoft would even consider releasing a game like "Playboy the Mansion" these days.

After installing this , I had a weird bug where no matter who used a stove it would start a fire, 100 percent of the time, I tested it for like an hour. After restarting the game completely it stopped. It was mildly funny.

That sounds what was happening to my sim as I was doing an off the grid challenge (with toddlers) and she was at LVL10 cooking and the stove kept catching fire every time, burning the cabinet beside it... I took away the stove after it did it the 3RD TIME in a row and It being costly to repair XD

@@celston51 A new game won't fix the problem. The real issue at this point is EA and whoever it is who decides what makes sims "fun." Whoever is in charge made the core game of sims 4 broken, and if they are in charge of sims 5, they will do it again.

This is the entire Sims4 experience. Sims 1 had better animations. Sims 4 doesn't even try anymore, they just slap a random effect and call it a day. Another example is how The Sims 2 and 3 snowmen get properly destroyed with great animations, and Sims 4 just reused an old fighting animation and the snowman just fades away.

And besides new sport activities, EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION from this pack uses the exact same recycled animations that were in previous packs that we already paid for. The woohoo in a cave uses the closet woohoo animation from Get Together, the Onsen bathhouse is literally a reskin Spa Day pack, the train station shown in the GAMEPLAY trailer for this pack is non-interactable, completely useless. The ski lift is a rabbit hole, there's barely anything to do on top of the mountain summit. At this point, they're charging their consumers over $40 (including taxes) for reskins, that's literally it

Now that they are going to release paid small kits for the sims 4, Ralph is not losing limbs no he is being grinded to dust at this point...

I love how this game has been out for six years and they still haven't figured out cars or electric guitars. But vacation packs where there's nothing new to do? Hell yeah that's totally possible!

According to EA, it would cost too much, they don't have enough team members for it, and no one wants to see that boring animation.

I mean I really disslike that it isn't there but knowing how weird the sims timescale is (things like eating at home sometimes taking several hours) it's probably for the better.

I love how "rock climbing" and "mountain excursions" actually doesn't really matter because callmekevin did it like it was nothing and did it while his Sims felt uncomfortable 🤣

I love that Duke is still your spokesperson, and LGR Sim is his partner.

Just me that never plays the sims but i still watch all of LGR's sims reviews

Your reviews are a go-to before buying any pack lol. I was on the fence about buying Snowy Escape bc I thought build/buy and lifestyles were cool, but the gameplay was lacking. Will definitely wait for the sale now!

A game bought on sale to EA is still a sale, especially since MANY simmers think like you, it’s still money in their pockets. I’ve never understood this reasoning among simmers.

@@stop08it I'm not buying it on sale to boycott/spite EA. I'm buying it because based on the content I don't think it's worth the current price, but I would be willing to purchase it for less.

I wonder if lgr will review cottage living when it launches or home interior design.
