Disha Ravishankar now that this is a thread. The idea that perpetuaates from following the normal more than often, if not always, brings chaos. We believe that to be of a different preference than our own makes somebody a target for all sorts of persecution. All the more so in this side of the world. As they say these days, we do have "woke" and massively supportive folk, but getting acceptance is not easy. While I myself am not from the bi- community, it has been a privelage knowing some amazing people who are. They do not really need support but love. Lots of it. And Holt led the way for Rosa to be loved. That melted my heart.

As a Bisexual woman myself Rosa is such a fantastic representation of Bisexuality. Showing her interested in and dating both men and women. But also the anxieties of coming out and being treated as a lesser person just because you like both. And seeing all of her colleagues accept her immediately is fantastic. This show is definitely the A* of representation.

Just want to say: I completely agree with all of this! It's great that they show straight men being open to complimenting others. However, nobodies forcing a sexuality onto Jake. Some people see those compliments as him possibly being attracted to men, and that's perfectly okay. Let people have their fun, nobodies hurting anyone.

When I saw that final Holt and Rosa clip in that episode, I cried for a solid few minutes. To see a character in a popular sitcom actually say those words will mean more to millions of people than I think whoever wrote the line will ever know. And thank you so much to the person who made this video for including Rosa's attraction to men as well as her attraction to women. Until we found out she had a girlfriend, Rosa was assumed to be a straight character, but that doesn't mean that she wasn't bisexual the entire time we saw her having a sexual relationship with a man, and very few compilations about Rosa's bisexuality include those clips.

It always makes me tear up, cause you can tell so many members of the squad see Holt as a father figure and throughout the seasons it’s only become more apparent and more obvious Holt has opened up more. Like literally watch Jake and Amy’s wedding, and then go back and watch the pilot, this show is a masterpiece in character development without Holts only attribute been that he’s gay, so many shows don’t know how to develop a well fleshed out gay character. I appreciate this show so damn much, and as a fellow bi person, it meant the world to me to see Rosa come out and to finally have representation.

I like how the two most deadpan characters tend to have some very emotional moments together

Captain Dad and Detective Badass hugging is such a legendary moment

9:30 literally bawled my eyes out when I saw this scene the first time, Holt's words to her are one of the best lines ever said in the show

I love the way that both Rosa and Holt are made as polar opposites of the stereotypes of their sexualities. Gay people are commonly represented as flamboyant, loud, not often seen in power and they often only talk about or are only there for their sexuality in tv shoes. Holt is reserved, robot like, highly educated and powerful without hiding his sexuality. Likewise, instead of being portrayed as decisive, strong and tough instead of promiscuous and indecisive. This is great representation because these people are full people with lives an friends and power not just a throwaway for diversity.

@@wolfy4734 ok I'm assuming that you don't support gays, lesbians, bisexuals, etc. aka you're not an alley (I'm an alley btw) Now I can't change the way you view this, everybody has their own opinion, free speech and stuff, but you can't talk about people that way man (or woman or other), it's hurts people's feelings, it's like you said someone was dumb for liking the colour yellow, like you can't just say that.As people say, if you have something mean to say keep it to yourself, spread love, not hate 💓 I'm not trying to be mean or anything just so you know. PS: homosexuality, bisexuality, other stuff (idk them all, I'm sorry) is NOT a mental illness, it's a preference.

As a bi person who has watched the whole series jake is definitely bisexual even if he doesnt know it lol, and it wasnt just that one line there have been multiple instances

Nah, it’s just a guy noting that another guy is hot. Doesn’t mean he’s attracted to him, just stating a fact.

I like how that Rosa and Holt are great and likeable characters on their own right and the fact that they’re LGBT isn’t the “main trait” about them A lot of LGBT characters on movies, books and shows have it so that the reason why that character is liked is because they’re LGBT

I love this show and it deserves so much more love. There's nothing problematic, it's frankly hilarious and it's so diverse! And they don't make the characters' sexualities their personality, they're actually believable, funny and relatable characters that just so happen to be lgbt. Also, Jake is best straight ally 👏

I love that the characters being part of the LGBTQ - Community isn’t all they’re about. It doesn’t matter most of the time. They’re not treated differently by the squad and aren’t cliches. They are who they are and that’s okay. I love this show soooo much!

Usually when a show or book changes the sexuality of a character late it doesnt mech and seems tacky and just to win a few points. But in B99 it was done well and made sense. I wonder if Rosa being secretdly bi was somethibg they thought from the beginning

Probably bc the actress herself is bi and she helped a lot with how Rosa is written

I’m absolutely obsessed with the way Holt says ‘thank you for that shockingly dark update’

Glad they made it that holts whole. Personality isn’t he’s gay and it’s just a small minor detail unlike other shows making it characters while personality

The last scene got me emotional I feel this so much.
