Let's start by saying that I'm not the smartest tool in the shed, but I had this problem with my LG washer and I have another possible solution. I found this video and I found other articles on the interweb stating that if you unplug the washer for 24 hours and then plug it in, it'll work again. Of course, I did the unplug thing first, since it was way easier. For me it worked. After several hours (I was too impatient to wait 24 hours) I plugged it back in and it started up. This got me to think that if the board had cr@pped out, it can't fix itself, so it must be something else, like a static charge or something that is causing the board to not work. Waiting the time for the board to discharge may be the solution. I am also aware that the electricity that comes into homes is not always that 'clean' it often has fluctuations in voltage. Could it simply be that my electrical service is the problem? To test this out I simply put a surge protector on my outlet and plugged the washer into the surge protector. I haven't had the problem since and it's been months AND I live on an island where we import our electricity from the mainland and there is a great possibility that fluctuations in voltage are everyday occurrences. Bottom line: unplug your washer for a day, put a surge protector on your outlet and see if this fixes the problem. It is easier and cheaper. If it doesn't work, then follow the video.

@@TheSeaBadger I'll try the 24 hour thing (or in my case, 48 hours, since I'll be gone for the weekend). The method in the video already didn't work, so I'm not too optimistic.

Thanks, I did the the steps you recommended to get it started. I thought I was going to have to go to a laundry to do this load which I so needed. As for the permanent fix I am not sure it can be done even by a repairman. I have the matching dryer installed on the top of the washer so it is not accessible. The washer is 13 years old and never have had any problems previously. The laundry room is very tiny and it would be very hard for anyone to do anything in there. I will just have to do the unplug, etc and just wait until the dryer also dies and then replace both. Right now it is working and I will see how it goes for the next load. THANKS!!!

For what it's worth, to save the hassle of reaching over the washer to unplug it every time it went out, I plugged it into a switched surge suppressor that could sit on top of the washer and be easily reached. It has been at least 3 months now and we have not needed to use the switch. The machine turns on every time as it should without fail. May need the board down the road but for now the surge suppressor is working great. Thanks for the reset tip.

Tried all of the suggested solutions on youtube, and almost gave up. The last one worked, I turned off the washer, then used a hairdryer to lightly heat the start button for about two minutes and it worked. It was either the severe cold weather we are having causing condensation/moisture to affect the button. After heating with the hairdryer for a few minutes, I turned the washer on, then selected a cycle, then pushed the start button and it worked.

After researching, I found a permanent fix without changing the $200 motherboard. I had the exact same problem shown here. Here's what worked for me: Unplug the machine, then press the power button for 5 seconds, and then press the start button for 5 seconds (this dumps any additional electricity from the capacitor). Then, I left machine unplugged all night. The next morning, I plugged it in with a surge protector in the outlet. Everything works perfectly now. I'm not sure why the surge protector made a difference but it did. A power strip should work equally well, if it has surge protection built in.

@Su Ya Rouhola It prevents surges of electricity from reaching your electronics at their peak. It helps to keep plugged devices safe. You can buy them everywhere from Target, Walmart, or Amazon. Here is an example: www.amazon.com/Single-Protector-Grounded-Adapter-Indicator/dp/B07NVGQNW5/

Thanks! Just found this and it worked for me as well. I think the button pushing is unnecessary. I unplugged the unit for 30 seconds and plugged it back in and had the same results.
