I install Gas appliances everyday and we never tape or dope a flared fitting. The ball and seat make the seal and if you get dope on it it may not seal. In other words, the seal is made at the ball and seat and not at the threads. Always dope or tape the pipe thread side.

LG should be sending you a big fat check for doing this and hire you to do more. I know you did it to help others. kudos.

I have the exact same oven and your video helped a great deal. Than you. Three comments. Taking off the oven door is the two black buttons on the inside of the door. No screws or anything. Very easy, and it made the process easier. I did take off the broiler and it was a little hard to get back on, but not terrible. Within 2 seconds of starting the stovetop I dropped a jet. Took less than 5 minutes to take off and 5 more to put on. I appreciated your comments on natural gas being easier and it is. I live in Ecuador and do not have this luxury. Thanks again, big help.

Great video - I was able to follow this to convert my own range when Home Depot refused to do the conversion. One hint - a standard socket is so deep that when you try to replace the burner orifices, they sink into the socket and will not engage the threads. I took the first orifice I removed and reversed it into the socket all the way - then the replacement will only go in far enough to keep the threads out far enough to engage the burner socket. When done, you can remove that old orifice and save it with the others in case you need to convert back to NG at a later date.

Thanks for doing this video. I just purchased an LG gas range and was a bit hesitant not knowing what was involved in converting it to LP gas. This was extremely helpful!

BigJoe you are soo right. When the instructions are vague I look to youtube to see if anyone had done the same and figure out the less informative instructions. If not I wing it and try to get the best results and pass them on. I had no idea I had to practically disassemble this range to convert to propane. Fairly good video, but as with most, one very important detail was missed. The minimum flame for the burners was missed. When the burner is turned to low, it will actually only go to medium as it is still set for Natural gas. To finish the job, at each burner, turn it to low, then pull each burner knob off the shaft. There is a very small screw inside the shaft, slowly turn it in till a small minimum flame is reached, the flame is still consistent all the way around. To check it, turn the flame to high, quickly turn it to low and the flame will quickly drop in size but not go out. If it does then increase the minimum flame size slightly. Do the rest of the burners and you will have a full range of flame size, instead of just high to medium. If the stove is near open windows or excessive draft from a range hood, the minimum flame may also need to be increased slightly. If your range has a dual burner, the second screw will be near the first. Read the instruction book in this instance. Enjoy the nice small simmer setting when done.

I just got mine done today on a ge stove it was a lot different than yours except the top. I got mine stove from lowes I had it sitting at lowes for 2 months as it was a scratch and dent one had a small dent in the back. But it had been changed to propane but when I got it it was a different model as they had sold mine by accident . Mine orig one cost 850 new the one they sent me cost 1200 new witch is what I got I had to convert and I am 57 and done a few in the past but this one was harder . Thanks for the video!!!!!

Kenny glad you got it converted. They don't make these stoves easy to convert. Sounds like you scored when they sold yours by accident hope they gave it to you at the same price. Their mistake. Guess it doesn't matter brand they're all work to convert

Super helpful. Inside the oven was a pain. I would add that the 10mm box wrench you need for inside the oven needs to be a thin walled variety. I had to grind mine down so it would fit into the area where the orifice was located. Thanks for sharing. Saved me tons of time.

Hey bro, always best to use a properly sized open end wrench at socket than an “adjustable” wrench. A better name for those is a ‘round the edges off the fitting’ wrench because you will never get it to grip properly.

I’m not converting but what size gas line does it take? The line they Shipped doesn’t fit. Is the adapter needed 3/4?

We just finished retrofitting the range. Your process and description was greatly appreciated. Wish I had heard the comment about the sharp edges before I started removing the back cover.

knitnpaint you are very welcome just take your time it can get a bit frustrating but you can do it. After your all done its a good idea to have either the gas company or someone cone out and make sure the adjustments are good for the flames. My uncle worked for the gas company and came over and did a few adjustments just to tweak it for optimal flame. I used it as is for a few weeks before he did. Propane cost more than natural gas so get every penny out of it. Thanks again for the complement and enjoy that range we've been cooking up a storm with ours. Happy Thanksgiving

Looking at your vid again, when you reassemble the oven after the orifice changeout... that floppy bit of metal that you move out of the way near the orifice is the shutter. Looks like you need to fire up the oven, and adjust the orifice (if needed) before fully re-assembling it.

Thank you for making this it saved me a shit load of time.

Suave13 the kit came with the stove the little bag of parts has a number AAA75946003 on it i did a search and that is the correct number for this model i found one on ebay selling this number but the pic of the bag of parts had 005 not 003 at the end. Just make suet it the correct kit for your model. My kit had 10 pieces. 8 brass 1 screw and 1 insert (chock) for one burner just search for the kit via your model number and should come up with something. Manuals that im not sure but again google it you might get lucky.

Someone please tell me the part number on the lp conversion kit for this exact stove the 4313 St

Nice video thank you for giving me hope lol! What are the steps to try fix my LG stove is exactly like this one. Years ago it was installed by the gas company but the guy did a real bad job,(forget that he took 4 hours) the ignitions to turn on the stove don't work, I have to use a light up to turn it on and I've only use the oven once because it started to smoke:( I'd like to fix it myself(forget about asking husband he'll ignore my pleas) and I think I can just by watching these nice videos but my stove is connected to electric outlet for the clock etc, and propane gas tank already.....Where do I need to start please? disconnect, turn off gas tank? then wait how long before I can start on it? Thanks!😅😁:)

I know this was a while ago. I've got one converted to propane and want to convert it to NG. You don't have your old orifices just lying around do you?

William Yowell Yes I do I put them in a bag and attached it to the paperwork and placed in my file cabinet. If I move or sell or if they eventually run gas line where I live, they will stay with it so the next person can convert back or leave . I do have them but they stay with the oven.

My convection fan is a little noisy, but blows. May need to replace it soon. Think I'll try to get a little lube into it while I have the back off.

Does anyone know if the propane this range can be adjusted? It is WAY too hot! Even on the lowest setting and keeping the pan half way off the burner.

Ellen Bolliger you might get the gas company to come out and adjust the flames but remember that propane does burn hotter than natural gas. I mostly cook with low flames and my baking times are shortened.

Ruth sadly no. I'm not sure if a propane seller can help with that or at least direct you in the right direction. If it was natural gas the gas company could.

1bertski a few months after this i found out how to release it from the oven was doing some cleaning didn't pay attention when i did the conversion. glad i didn't, hate to have to readjust the door.

I never mind a challenge i may not always be successful but i'll at least try, We love this range. we use it so much seem i'm always cleaning it. Just did the conversion to our new LG range. Noticed you didn’t adjust the burner flames. You also didn’t adjust the air shutter on the broil burner or the bake burner.

Yes, the air shutter piece should be removed prior to reinstalling the nozzle holder.

Just bought one of these and plan on trying the conversion myself. This will be incredibly helpful! More importantly- how did the turkey come out?

I did the conversion and hooked up the stove yesterday. Your video was very helpful. After reading the manual (crazy concept, I know) I came across this paragraph; "Adjusting Air Shutters (for LP Conversions). The range comes from the factory with the air shutters adjusted for proper air flow for natural gas. If converted to LP, follow the instructions provided in the conversion kit to properly adjust the air shutters." I don't remember seeing those instructions in the conversion guide. Did you and did you make any adjustments to your oven? Thanks again!

Ed no i didn't. It worked fine, the flames were good looking. Not too much variance in color so it was ok as is.

Alfredo Sorry cant help. I'd suggest contacting customer service at Kenmore or Sears and see if the can help.

I have the same range and looking at the instructions that came with it, it seems like you only did part of the conversion. There are a couple of flame height adjustments that they tell you to make. Did you find that you didn't need to make those adjustments? Did you just skip that part, or maybe earlier versions of this range don't have those adjustments?

my Uncle worked for the gas company. a few weeks after this conversion he did a few fine adjustments for optimal flame. I had no issue using the range till then as is. Paying for someone to come out and do the fine tuning is cheaper that the conversion. Even after the tuning i really couldn't see the difference that's why i leave certain thing up to professionals in that field.

i paid the same price plus i got 10 % on top of what i paid

Sara Hartbower just take your time and you should do just fine. I'm not sure if it is still common practice but as noted when i bought mine it came with the conversion kit. Wasn't an extra cost. Good for LG that'show you do busniess. Thanks for viewing.

OMG, I used to do propane installs and I am certified in it and have been to school for gas piping, and rule number one is never put pipe dope or thread sealant on a flare fitting.

most all gas ranges and dryers have to be converted to lp 90percent atleast

Usually i would delete such a narrow minded comment but i thought id try to educate you for your future thought on people on propane. Think before you comment. As per the U.S. Energy Information Administration 2009 servery almost 85% of households in the United States heat with natural gas or electricity, less than 10% rely on propane, the other being heating oils, according to the 2009 Residential Energy Consumption Survey. So Emkay THIS is why LG has included their NATURAL gas Range with the kit to convert it to Propane. Appliance makers with such a low market demand will not solely produce their product for propane rather they will include a kit or the option to purchase a conversion kit yo do so. Much cheaper. If you are in an area with a high percentage of consumers are on propane or even heating oil then they will possibly have a few appliances on site for that application. Generally Limited selection. Again supply and demand. With greater supply and selection for natural gas appliances I buy them and convert for propane. I hope this helps you in basic economics 101......oh Good bye. no need to yell respect goes a long way.
