1:27 what LG doesn’t mention (which is very important) is that absolutely NO air can escape from the mounting bracket/diffuser. otherwise, hot/humid air will be released from the gaps, increasing humidity, which won’t allow the A/C to cool efficiently. Think about it like this. If there were a hole in the hose, some of the hot air that the unit was trying to put outside would be released into the room. The same thing happens if there are any air gaps at the attachment points. buy some insulating tape from your local Lowe’s or The Home Depot, apply it around the attachments of the mounting bracket & diffuser, and you should be good. also, make sure the window is sealed entirely, and that no air can get in or out. air escaping from anywhere other than the A/C vent will increase humidity. Lastly, this air conditioner is not portable by any means. it really needs to be permanently installed if you want the best performance out of it.

I have a horizontal/Left to Right sliding window & had this installed & cooling in under 2 hours, including trimming & installing a piece of screen to go over the grating b/c I don't have a screen in that window. I could have used extra foam but w/ rigid insulation I had on hand trimmed down I made it fit quite snug. In 15 minutes my room has dropped 10 degrees easily. I watched this video at least twice.

I absolutely loved the portable units I had for my mobile home when my central air unit went out. I had two units that cooled the living room, kitchen, and bathroom and slept in the living room. One was 12000 btu's and the other was 10,000 btu's. The only drawback is that they do make a lot of noise. Mine weren't this brand though.

The hose gets super hot, which heated up the room, I had to tape insulation around hose. That helped a lot.

Where can you purchase a replacement hose? Mine have not help up well. It would be great if there was a better type to replace it.

I remember when im working in ace hardware and selling portable aircon. . Me. Just demonstrating how to use and install. No gloves or to much talk. Then customer buy my aricon. Lol.

This type of units you must always insulate the hose becaue you are cooling with unit and heating with the units hose ( it’s just a plastic hose, heat’s up when in use).

The whole unit heats up, the hot air being expelled doesn't make the hose so hot it reheats the room.

I bought one for my outdoor work shop. Season -1 the auto drain feature stopped working as well as the auto shut off when water level is full from condensation - causing the unit to leak water all over the floor. Season -2 the articulating air flow blade stopped working and later in the middle of summer the unit stopped working all together.

I think the dual hose ones do better when it is a lot hotter like 100°F but the single hose units perform better at lower temperatures e.g. 85. There is a video somewhere on this where they did tests. So for where I live I would be wasting money to buy a dual hose unit because the single hose will perform better when the heat isn't so much. I don't have a problem if air is being sucked in from the other side of the home as that will be the cooler shady side. I suspect though that the air coming back in would not be as hot as the air being expelled. Also, many people like me do not have windows that slide either vertically or horizontally but swing out vertically or horizontally instead. So it would be even more difficult with dual hose. It is already tough with single hose and you have to avoid the expelled air coming back in by getting wind direction etc right. I think a dual hose could suffer that problem just as much with hot air that is expelled coming straight back in. The window units seem to be better than both portable types but again they need the vertical sliding windows. One thing I'd like to know is if LG make portable units with more BTUs e.g. 18,000 or 24,000? 12,000 may only be good for smaller rooms.

you need to insulate the expanding hose which blows out the hot air. otherwise, it's like having a radiating heater and ac on at the same time. insulate using towels or blankets wrapped and taped tightly, covering the entirety of the hose. 2 to 4 inches of insulation is adequate.

@@valerievalerie5897 i use an old thick blanket to wrap the expanding hose from end to end, using tape to keep it from unraveling. the thicker the material used for insulation, the better it keeps the heat from leaking into the room. you can use old newspapers, towels, blankets or even insulation found in hardware stores. just remember, you're goal is to keep the hot expanding hose from heating up the room. the insulated hose should be cool to the touch when the ac is running. if it is still warm, i would wrap another layer until it is cool to the touch.

takezoaudio sorry to bother you I wrapped hose with towels blankets etc and mask taped best I could. The air coming out seems cool and my next question is how much of hose can you leave in order to touch for temp ? I discovered late last night mine is one of 3 models recalled contacted LG but not optimistic about contact. I’m going to watch carefully and continue to use. Right now hose exposed say 1 1/2 inch each end and is warm but not hot. Thanks for your help

@Shnaz Fangler I lived in a small condo that I bought in 1984. I don't need a house, cause it's just me. I paid my mortgage off 10 years ago. Which means I haven't paid rent or mortgage since then. If you buy a condo, there is going to be an HOA. They take care of the yard around the property, water, trash etc. I'm at that age where I don't want to start paying rent somewhere else or buy a new house with a new mortgage. I'm rent & mortgage FREE!! Plus, houses are not cheap(especially in a nice area), I'll past away first, before I pay off on a 30 year mortgage loan.😀

I did it for mine, I just removed the doors and blocked off the open areas with wood. Seems to work fine been using it for weeks now.

For safety/ break- in concerns, duplicate a laundry dryer vent through the wall. Dress it up right and it'll look just like any other laundry vent.

There are a lot of issues with the window panel installation if you have a left to right sliding window. This video nor any other video goes over the problems. Extremely frustrating

Yeah, you basically need you to make your own window pannel using plywood, and then screw the provided window panel into it to be able to attach the hose. Especially if you have windows higher than 50". Even if it's inconvenient, the advantage is that it will provide better insulation from heat and sound than what just installing the slim panel could provide (especially with a 1-inch plywood). It also makes you able to install a vent cover on the outside. Just make sure to paint the plywood (ideally in white if the sun shine directly on it during the day) so that it does not rot.

I wish I had just watched this video, instead of following the directions in the booklet, which are horrible. The booklet instructs you to put the adhesive foam on the vent, instead of on your window. Complete nightmare to install! I'm going to change out the foam to the video method today!

I bought one due to my ignorance. I had to install a window unit in a wall and keep the one-hose unit as a backup.

Do you have a video about draining the condensed water?

FYI- the diffusers DO NOT screw on to each end of the hose. Worst design ever. However, if you unscrew the black grate , fully extend both ends of the hose, and leverage one side in first and very carefully use needle nose pliers to pull the other side up... you'll secure each diffuser. Making a seal is critical as the hose will vibrate out of the diffusers within a few minutes of usage.

This unit was given to me without any instructions. Do you have to add water inside a compartment? If so, where? The reason for saying so being I see on mine a discharging of dirty water. Thanks in advance

@@jayjayjay4788 It would require a gas generator. Traveling Robert uses a Westinghouse 2500 which he says is pretty quiet. He's not a stealth camper, he just wanted a quiet generator. The only idea I can think of for stealth is to mount a bike type rack on the back of the van and put the generator inside an insulated box on the bike rack. Or inside an insulated trailer. I just finished installing mine in a side-closing window. I had to get creative with the foam strips, but I think that's probably the case for most installs. The hardest part for me was threading the vent; I wish it had had some kind of clamp instead.

Is mobile freon air conditioning the air conditioning of the future and will they cancel the old types of air conditioning that were in the past

Not the best choice for a rental though and by the time you've purchased, wired and installed the split you'll have spent a lot of money and it's permanently in one room.

Punch a hole through the wall. Frame it, dress it up and screw the hose to the wall there. Like a laundry dryer vent.

I have a 10,200 in my bedroom, but now it fills with water, can hear the water gurgling and it is supposed to be self evaporating, how do i fix this problem for good? I did try to remove a clog from the tubes that drain the air conditioner but hasn't helped, please.

Fran Helmer Put the United on a desk or something and attach the hose to the init and the other end to a pail because the pail has to be lower than the unit. Now it will drain whenever there is water built up

Yeah all well and good till bacteria galore builds up inside the bottom and in the air outtake so bad that it makes you sick even with regular cleaning it's not worth all the effort to slightly cool down a single living room or bedroom and I'm speaking from experience I had one until I noticed sinus and lung problems with me and my family the water buildup in the bottom of the unit was disgusting to say the least.

To LG which vents to make sure that's nothing blocking??? Are you refer to vents on the back of AC or exhaust port to outside? Is the net screen on the window consider as anything that blocking the vent? If not you need to update this video. There are to many uneducated people out there.
