My dryer just started making this noise today. I tore it down and like you said it was the right front. I didnt want to wait for parts to be delivered or drive all over town looking for parts. So I went to my garage and dug out some old Rollerblade wheels I had squirrels away, pressed the bushing out of the roller (sockets and a hammer work fine) and pressed the Rollerblade bearings in. Then I used a 5/16 bolt, lockout, and a few washers to put it back together. The bearings should last the life of the dryer and if they don't, ive got more wheels stashed away.

THANK YOU for posting this informative video!!! We were contemplating a new dryer because we were so desperate to get it fixed and do laundry! I just happened to google the right thing and land on your video. It was super easy to follow & we only spent $13 on a new roller and maybe an hours worth of work. It saved us money & time! Very appreciative!

Great video my friend! I too thought the obvious thing was the drum roller bearing being worn out. However, after hearing the same noise and a partial disassembly, I noticed a rather large wad of dryer sheets stuck in the blower motor. Upon removal the dryer regained it's normal operation. Just a head's up for all those looking to hunt down a noisy dryer. My personal experience with the Tromm series washer and dryers by LG are" Washer: Good. Needs regular scum and mildew cleaning to not die of black mold. Other than that a solid runner. Dryer: Great. Not being certain I'd estimate about 2,000+ hours of operation so far and with 3 cleanings and this wad removal, no significant problems.

Thank you; was able to replace roller following your video. Only part I had trouble with was removing the door sensor cable, around 4:00. For anyone having the same problem, you need to separate the semi-transparent cable from the white door sensor; look at 4:10 for a very quick shot of what it looks like.

Thanks so much for this video. My 12 year old son and I just followed your video instructions. Our unit was stacked so it took some teamwork on the ladder but it worked perfectly. It was the right front wheel that was worn but we replaced both anyway. We reassembled, turned it on, and now it’s quiet as first purchased. I can only imagine how much we would have paid if we had a service do it. Thanks so much!! Great and easy to follow video.

Thank you for the valuable video. I would have removed another 50 screws without your help. One note, I had to remove the left roller (and also replaced to right side). For the left one, removing it is a little more blind. You can do this without additional part removal. I used a wide long variable grip wrench until I got lucky in grabbing the blind side of roller, then held really tight.

A lot of times I have noticed that the back wheels will be seized up and the front wheels will be wrapped with things like that. The new rollers have about 1/4 in of axial play (so front-to-back on the shaft) that is normal and it's part of the design. Certain models have a screw-on the blower casing that actually helps it to the blower Inlet, which helps it from blowing lint all inside your dryer, some of the bottles don't and it's frustrating especially the outlet of the blower has a pretty horrific seal, and will blow lint all over the place, especially if you have had clogged dryer vents over time. Make sure you while you're in there, you clean all that stuff out, also carefully look in the heating elements and make sure they're not packed full of burnt lint, etc. You are far better off using a vacuum cleaner and your hands versus blowing it all over the place, because then there's dust it'll stir up and can ignite. Ceramic elements are really sensitive as already connections to it for the heating coil so be careful when you're looking at them or messing with them. You will also notice on the seals, the felt strips, they will develop a layer of lint on the front and it will affect the sensor drying function, so as your rubbing that felt strip you should get a lot of lint off of it. In regards to tools, General need a Phillips head screwdriver, a 14 mm Ranch and a 10 mm ratchet or ratcheting wrench for the rollers. The tensioner is also 10 mm usually. Just wanted to throw out a few pieces of information 😊

Just replaced 3 rollers on our LG dryer yesterday. The bad one was in the rear so I had to remove the drum. Replaced the belt while I was at it. The new rollers have bearings instead of bushings so they should last longer. I wish now I'd replaced the one good roller but it's in the same spot as the one you'd replaced so it shouldn't be that bad to replace when the time comes.

Highly recommend you replace all four wheels and the belt at the same time. I did not replace the idler pulley wheel since it isn't as much of a load bearing wheel. The two rear wheels took some yoga to loosen the bolts (this is after pulling out the entire drum); the front wheels are as easy as shown in the video. Took a few hours but way better than paying the $300+ for a repair service. Model DLG5966.

My LG makes a noise but not like this, mine makes a single thump for every revolution. Saw no movement on the drum running with door open. Bought 2 sealed bearing LG OEM rollers hoping it would fix it. Opened up and all existing rollers seemed ok turned ok, no flat spots or wobble. New rollers seemed to have more slop than the old but put them on the back two rollers. Vacuumed out all lint and put leaf blower to blow out ductwork. Motor fan spun by hand freely. Put back together and hand spun drum ok. Plugged in with top off and same noise! Put hand on drum when running and detected no movement (except for rotation). Any ideas?

You need to pull out the entire drum. Release the belt tension from the idler wheel (white wheel that is under the drum) and slide off the belt. Then lift out the drum. Check the edges that rub against in the interior faces for any debris or wear. Helpful if you have a short handle socket wrench to hold the nut while you loosen the pulley wheel. With my model, I had to wiggle the short handle socket behind a short support wall to access the nut. Short handle helped.

Just go to repair clinic.com for great repair videos. FYI, rollers are self-lubricating and don’t get greased...

So appreciative of this video. Extremely thorough and easy to follow; unlike some. Got the dryer all disassembled and removed and checked rollers, but they were fine. Actually, my problem was in some crud that had become lodged in the blower assembly. Glad I found it because a bunch of lint, several dryer sheets and a few small seashells (my wife, the beach comber!) were stuck and blocking up the works. Cleaned it all out and YIPPEE SKIPPY, all is back to normal. Thank you again for getting me to our problem! We were ready to pull the trigger on buying a new one!

Its not difficutl if you have som basic mechanical abilities. If you feel fear looking at this job that might be a good indicator that you are not ready. However, if you attempt this, follow the instruction on this video, make sure you are looking at a DIY video for your specific model and carefully document your screws bolts with post-it notes and set them on a table in order of removal. Many parts can only go together one way.
