I think this is outdated my machine states to hold the heavy button for 3 seconds but I’m not sure if I have to hold the power button at the same time. Any suggestions on how to start the cycle would be appreciated.

I have used my dishwasher approximately 3 times since buying it last year (it basically new) - it has the worst smell - how do I get rid of that? Also, I removed the filter basket and is it normal to see water in the base where the filter basket sits? I would think this would create a “ stale water” smell over time.

I have this issue as well, absolutely no food in the filter trap, and water collected underneath the filter trap that does not totally leave the dishwasher. I replaced a 15 year old dishwasher that had no problems, except I broke the motherboard, to buy an LG that everybody told me was super great, only to have a horrible odor issue. I’ve only run the dishwasher three times. Now they are telling me I need to run a cleaning cycle after three times of use? I never have food scraps when I put things in there. This is not acceptable. There has to be a way for these dishwashers to totally drain of all water. I never had to run a cleaning cycle on my old dishwasher. This is ludicrous that you have to run a whole cycle of an empty dishwasher in order to get the smell out after three uses.

Update: After researching and researching this problem - I have fixed the smell issue. 1. My contractor did not install the plumbing properly under my sink which led to the foul odor coming up through the dishwasher drain. I paid a professional plumber to redo the work correctly. 2. It is normal to have a little water left in that drain area - I read that in the manual. 3. I added a hanging deodorizer inside as well: Finish Dishwasher Air Freshener Lemon.

@@LGUSA Read the question again. ilovehhx has a question, not an issue. Why don't you just answer the question about auto vs machine clean cycle; everyone watching this video will then know the answer. Your video seems to be in conflict with both your website and dishwasher user manual on this point.

At 3:25 you show pouring citric acid powder into the dispenser and state to use 3 tablespoons of it. There is no way that 3 tablespoons of citric acid powder will fit in that dispenser.
I received an email from LG, and it says, "your LG dishwasher is built to last." Mine only lasted 3 years before the 10-year motor started making a loud buzzing sound every time I use the dishwasher and it isn't cleaning as well as it used to. The catch with the 10-year motor is you have to pay a service technician to come out and take a look at your dishwasher and then you have to pay him to install the part. At this point you might as well buy a new dishwasher. It's disappointing that appliances don't last.

Hello there. We're sorry to hear that your LG Dishwasher has not lived up to your expectations and has started experiencing issues with the motor and cleaning performance. We understand that the 10-year motor warranty requires a service technician visit and part replacement, which can be inconvenient and costly. At LG, we pride ourselves on building durable and reliable appliances, but it's clear that we fell short in this case. We appreciate you sharing your experience with us and will take it as an opportunity to improve our products and services. -Ken

There are multiple KZread videos on this exact problem and it’s unfortunate that LG doesn’t address this problem. LG is hurting their reputation by not providing quality appliances, parts, and service.

The pictured dishwasher has a Machine Clean cycle. Why isn’t that used for citric acid or white vinegar?

Hi! Regarding to your concern, because it's a strong acid, vinegar can break down the rubber gaskets and hoses in your dishwasher, eventually causing a costly breakdown. ^Nolito

@@LGUSASupport so why use white vinegar in auto mode as you say in the video and not machine clean mode as the manual says? Your guidance is directly contradictory to the LG Machine Clean Cycle support webpage which says “You can run the cycle using only water or add citric acid, white vinegar, or another cleaning agent that’s dishwasher safe for more effective results. Do not add detergent. Empty the unit of any dishware, then press and hold Heavy for 3 seconds to activate the Machine Clean.”
@paulc2953

@@LGUSASupport I actually use citric acid and my question is really more why you aren’t using the machine clean cycle which clearly is what it’s for and is shown in your video as being available on that particular dishwasher you use in the video.

The detergent will just neutralize the vinegar so you're wasting you're time if you do that.

@@joa8593 But they say to NOT use vinegar (too strong... will damage hoses, etc.) in their comments here. Contradicting the LG manual and LG website. They seem to not be able to give a consistent answer to this important detail. Nor to the questions about using the Clean cycle. Nor to the questions about the dispenser capacity. And so on and so on.
