It's not fake noise coming through the speakers it's actuall noise being pumped into the interior through tubes of some sort

It's both. There is a sound tube in the engine bay that directs sound from the intake towards the driver. On top of that, there's the ASC, which plays digital sound.

Yes, there is the intake sound generator. But, if you watched Alex's video, you'd know that it's a physical tube. There's no turning it off. The ASC is played though the speakers. I have a 2021 IS 350 with the same system. The car has both the sound tube and ASC, just like the IS 500.

It’s not necessarily artificial. It’s done through the intake tubing pointing toward the firewall. Even with an aftermarket intake on my RC350 that eliminates the induction tube it still works although maybe a little more quiet. It actually sounds pretty good and not artificial like some do inside the car. I had a Fiesta ST with one that ran all the way into the cabin to give better induction noise. I eliminated that one as well.

The new IS doesn’t have the manifold that throws the sound against the firewall, that was the old Lexus solution. They now pump it in artificially like BMW. Sad times

@@sensational6111 the fake sound is, yeah. I’m actually a fan of the manifold in my GS though, it’s basically the only time the exhaust note penetrates the cabin lol. It gets loud any time you push over 4,000rpm

@@SavingPrivateBrian Yes, it does. I have a 2021 IS 350 and have removed the engine cover just to see for myself. The sound tube is still there. I mean, even without looking, I can tell by the way it sounds that it's still there. However, there is also fake sound on top of this.

It's not that bad. The v8 is loud enough to handle its own so it just compliments it IMO

Toggling the switch a few hundred more times would be great. I want to see how robust is that asc feature ..

I don’t like pumped in engine noise and I love that Lexus put this feature into their IS.

Ford calls it a “sound symposer”, it’s in the Focus ST, only you can’t turn it off that easily. My guess is that it was an attempt to put some engine sound into the car instead of the neighborhood.

Alternate Title: Lexus' Surround Sound System LFA with surround sound: HA HA V-10 GO BREEEEE

As you can tell the switch works every times he raised it and lowered it If this was a German car it would have that Infamous yellow check engine light after doing this.

ASC may be interesting, especially being able to turn it down/off. But ESC off is by far the best button for noise

It's actually the real engine sound, not coming through speakers. But really, the question is, why? When I drove the subaru wrx sti the thing I loved most about it, outside the car its loud, sounds great. Inside, its silent. Absolutely wonderful.

The little dial that he's turning up and down controls the volume of the fake sound. There's a sound tube, but the "ASC" is digitally played through speakers.

This is just some stupid junk that will screw up and costan arm and a leg to fix

There are speakers that counter act the sound entering the cabin. GM introduced this years ago.

What’s great is that it’s the actual sound of the engine and if you get tired of it you can turn it off completely… Cool feature most cars your stuck with it and it sounds nothing like the engine in the vehicle

Regardless of "how" the sound is made, I think the engine note sounds purrrfectly fine without it on. Lexus vehicles are so smooth to drive anyway, adding noise to it seems counterintuitive to what they are supposed to be in the first place anyway. Plus, noise doesn't win races.

I couldn't believe they started doing this when I heard about. And thankfully until this video. I forgot about it.

It is fake. However, there's also a sound tube under the hood which is... less fake. I have an IS 350 and I turn off the fake sound.

Its like having a ugly girlfriend that can be really goot at makeup

Many cars have a sound tube. It's just that this one is adjustable, instead of having foam inside the tube for attenuation reasons. The mx5 has one, and even the 1st gen BMW Z4. There are, of course, many more.

its active noise/sound control your car either has few small tweeters or plays it through the sound systems but it a clashing frequency that nullifies the sound of your engine like two crashing waves of equal proportion

It’s actually a mental trick , electric cars have no noise and it plays mental tricks with its passengers and many actually get sick from its acceleration because your mind doesn’t understand how you are traveling at such speeds without any noise .. a baby that grows up iwith electric cars won’t have this problem but everyone today you have been brought up with the noise/acceleration of a gas/Diesel then take that out of the equation and throws everything off so just adding this sound will allow you to understand what’s happening

Theres a reason everyone with a VW removes the sound tube. It wasn't a great idea then, its not a great idea now. But, you're incorrect, it's not fake engine sounds or fake exhaust notes.

@hon solo 2013 First year it came out. From 2013-2015 it came with a 450hp V8. The V8 is basically the Audi R8 V10 with 2 cylinders off. It’s faster/more HP than the R8 V8.

@hon solo Time to teach you…. First it’s not the same engine. Second the gearing and better LC makes a difference And my car has a dual clutch vs the single clutch in the R8 it’s even worse if it has a manual. I’ve raced them and never lost. One of the greatest struggles with people is knowing about something enough to think that you are right but not enough to know when you are wrong.
