    This is hands-down the best Japanese high performance luxury sports coupe on sale. This car sells itself on looks alone. This is top dog I have also seen this car in person and it’s beautiful you can stare at the details for hours. You guys have to also understand this is the first generation of this product this is version 1.0 all of the Lexus F products are on version 1.0 there is no version 2.0 yet which should be coming and are going to have a TwinTurbo V8 so because these are version 1.0 I don’t expect it to be perfect but they are still a damn dope vehicles. I feel like sometimes people just over analyze a car's value too much. Yes it's a terrible value in terms of performance, but people make emotional decisions all the time. There are times when a car's appearance or personality just appeal to them and it makes it desirable to that person. If you spend all your time comparing every spec and detail to all the other cars out there you will probably never be happy with anything. You'll just be yearning for what you don't have or what you're missing out on all the time.

    @2ZZGE100

    That is not how actual buyers make decisions. There are lots of LC500s available in my area so the production numbers are vastly different. LC500 is a halo car with top notch luxury amenities, design and quality. They are both apples to oranges and drive very differently. I was in the market and picked an RCF carbon/TVD. LC500 is a big, very heavy cruiser. 4400 lbs and very softly sprung that glides through imperfect roads. It is not an exciting car to try to push to the limits. A soft, cushy suspension is not what performance oriented buyers want. People pick this because they want more sportiness and also RCF also has significantly more outright performance than the LC500. People who like spirited driving or taking it to the track while staying with Lexus and that N/A V8. would not put both of them in the same sentence. I have a $90K RCF so it is something I have first hand experience in.

    I feel like the problem with this car is its price… no reason why this car should cost $100k+ with how the competition is. Not really fair to clump this car with the GT500 or M2 CS because at least with those cars you get more bang for your buck IMO. Maybe the GT500 is overpriced but its a better track car and faster than the RC F. Personally I would rather buy a Camaro ZL1 1LE if I wanted an affordable street legal track monster, sure its not as luxurious as the RC F but you don’t need all those bells and whistles if you just want a track toy. If Lexus could just make a true track car like Porsche does it would be a lot better. This car should be quicker, lighter and have a better chassis for its price point. Its a good car just too much money when theres other cars that do it better. I guess its a smart idea to make a luxury “track” car but at that price i’d rather buy a Corvette/Cayman GT4/Camaro ZL1 1LE/GT500…

    You imo just do not get this car. It is a car exactly for a superfan. I owned 4 "F" cars (got GS F stil) and this is an ultimate IS F in its core. It is a super GT. All these cars you mentioned are just everywhere and not exclusive for a driver that loves F products. And I do have a Lotus GT430 Evora for the track for example so no need to take this to a track. But you kind of like a slightly "lighter" super GT compared to the Germans. This is my ultimate GT that is just track ready but would not be its main mission at all. The carbon ceramics are not as expensive as you said also. It is half what you said. This is mechanical and got soul. Usable and double personality. 100k is very expensive but do not compare this to a Porsche that is at every corner and trans Europe trip would be a nightmare in a GT4 Cayman for example. I am buying the 2022 "Heat Satin Blue" version. And you can get a Tag Heuer Carrera Fuji Speedway limited watch that is matching it greatly (you wanted more special watch :-) ). And I know 4 owners that have RC F Track Edition and I can say who buys this uses this. This is special, you really have to drive it differently to find out. It is not about straight speed but about the experience and usability. Love it. Investment did not matter to any of the mentioned owners I know :-) It is just rare and that is what we like. Probably would have a fine residual value but no investment car for me at all.

    Hmm, I think the watch being included makes the car for the “super fan” or for “only an investment”argument is stupid. Everyone knows they’re not going to throw in a Patek Philippe in there-it’s just a watch with the Lexus brand on it. BMW used to (still does?) sell BMW watches. They’re definitely not high end timepieces either. I’d think of it as like including a leather key fob holder or like a carbon fiber pair of sunglasses-stuff like that. It’s just extra swag they throw in to spice things up to the brand.

    What I don’t understand what you guys is how you say it is a “conundrum” that Lexus is supposed to offer soft isolated vehicles but then they also offer a high-performance fast cars…. isn’t this something magical ? what makes them any different than Mercedes-Benz ? Mercedes-Benz are the biggest manufacturing offering soph and isolated vehicles soft but they also offer AMG cars and you guys have no issue with AMG products… so why is it that when Lexus offered the same recipe you guys are confused ? Also no one is going to laugh you off the track in this car because it’s heavy that’s not reality no one‘s going to do that if someone does they’ll probably get punched in the mouth so that’s not happening

    We’ve had similar head scratching moments at the existence of most AMG or M things that are heavy but absurdly capable. Some of them are also fun. This isn’t as fun - which as a Toyota super fan you are unlikely to accept. The result is interesting. Fast and capable. But winds up in a middle ground. We’ve said similar things on some German offerings. Meanwhile we’ve lauded praise on many recent Toyota things…. Thanks for watching as always.

    I am with you, Toyota4Life. When I drive my IS 350 on a mountain road, it feels like it belongs there. It handles great. It's not completely soft or isolated, but it'll also get me back home on the highway in comfort. It also has a far more natural feeling to the steering and all the inputs than my wife's 330i M Sport does - which, by the way, feels like it's compensating for something with how snappy and immediately it responds to all inputs, not to mention the busy ride. My point being - Lexus has been making compact sport sedans since its first IS in the late 90's. You don't look at a BMW 3-series and expect it to be as _insulated_ as a 5- or 7-series. Similarly, saying an RC should be as insulated as "a Lexus", which I interpret to be an ES or LS, is a silly thing to say.

    @@TestDriveVideos I strongly disagree. I drove all the German competitors and tested them. Their performance is much better but do you want that in such a car? Is this a track car? No. You buy a Porsche GT or a Lotus for that. I own these F cars because they just are not as sterile as todays overengineered Audi RS, Ms or AMGs (only exception is the C63 S imo). This is not pretending it is a Ferrari on the track but those RS and Ms are, and as such they have to be absolutely technical and sterile to achieve those times and performance. You feel the digital vibe in those. Did you really have tested this F in detail or was it just a short drive/few days test? "F" cars do suffer from short testing - you have to own it and get to know them to really appreciate them. After 2 years of M5 you sell it feeling OK, to sell this you really feel sad. It is ownership friendly as hell. You lease the Germans, you own the "F"s for 10+ years and they do not loose its appeal a bit.

    We created this channel to separate out our single car reviews from our big comparisons or series on our original "Everyday Driver" channel. Because of our podcast we drive everything from every manufacturer, but that means many SUVs or cars that don't always resonate with our other channel. So here on Test Drive we are always in the cars together in a more conversational style (like our Podcast) and we drive everything we get. Thanks for watching.

My S65 is a 2005 that has been well taken care of so I don't have to call it a money pit! In fact, I hate leasing!!! That means that you don't own the car, and I hate that!!! Nor am I interested in todays AMG's due to all the BS nanny gadgets telling me how to drive my car, not to mention all the BS touch screens that makes me sick!!! Also, I don't have to impress anyone with my car, I'm not buying a car for other people, I buy a car for ME!!! And as you may have figured it out by now, my car is 16 years old!!! WTF is there to impress????? I'm sorry if I hurt your Lexus heart, but let's be honest, never have Lexus been able to compare themselves with the German sport cars! They did it once back in 89 in the comfort department, sadly they're still stuck in that age and time! Are they more reliable? Sure, you bet! But are they smiles per gallon as the Germans? No! See why I'm dissing Lexus now?! Lexus is a mixture of 3 decades, 80's, 90's and 00's.... That's why their target customers are 45+ aged and on...
