many F1 cars in the past used a V10 engine. Because these engines are like 5x2, unlike a v8 where it 4x2 or v12 at 6x2 even v16 with 8x2, the 5x2 has an odd number of cylinders per side. (at least I think that's why, some weird math I don't understand), all V10s no matter who they are made by, as long as they are a V10, have a very distinctive sound. They don't sound exactly the same (firing order and exhaust dictate a lot of this) but, its that sort of out of tune scream that I am talking about LFA has a V10, so its natural it sounds a bit like that.

Fun fact: There was a whole sound engineering department which looked after driver 's ear experience also experimenting with exhaust sounds. Its sad the car was overshadowed by competition not making enough sales reason being delayed launch.

@Matt PIts price was also a reason but primary was the delayed launch cuzz the more the delay the higher the research and the cost of contracts over the years. It had quite new ideas for its time but due to years of delay these ideas became norms and almost every good car had them.

They're making a new generation of the lfa based on the same engine with a hybrid system of 2 electric motors producing over 700 horsepower though those are just speculations I think, but Toyota is gonna make an announcement about the lfa project is in early 2022. I can't wait. Definitely buying that.

Phenomenal engineering went into that car. Very unique sound!

Craig Zinn is the owner of that car if anyone is wondering btw :) he owns a few dealerships in South FL including Lexus of Pembroke Pines. I took a vid of this exact car too

The engine was built by Yamaha… they built the whole exhaust for THEIR engine that THEY tuned… it wasn’t “sent to them”… the engines and all compartments including exhaust were sent from Yamaha to Lexus in the Motomachi plant.

I'm sure it's a lot of money to invest in a project of that magnitude, but lexus should really do something like this again. Not a V6 like the NSX. A V-10. It would bring their brand so much clout and imo pay them back in the long run.
