For those who need to know, the bolt for the belt tensioner pulley is reverse thread. Guy in the video didn't mention that.

Great informative vidio. A good rule to remember is , if a bolt is in the center of a revolving part , then it needs to tighten against the direction of its rotation. Hence! If a pulley rotates clockwise then the bolt in the center has to be tightened against its rotation., or it may loosen itself. You will find this on grinders fan shafts boat moters. Breaking a bolt off in the block will ruin your day. Love the vidio!

OK great. Just remember that it seams every car is a little different. One of the differents is that down near the motor mount there is another one behind that one to the left with 2 bolts you need to remove and the motor will lift up better. Thanks for wathing.

This video helped me a hell of a lot... WARNING HORROR STORY AHEAD... SO... AFTER REPLACING THE WATER PUMP... I simply wanted to replace all my noisy old pulleys... The two idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley... The idler pulleys went on and off no problem and really easy... The tensioner pulley had reverse threads and a slightly different washer from the other two pulleys... I DID NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE TENSIONER PULLEY WASHER AND INSTALLED IT BACKWARDS... This simple mistake caused the pulley to not spin at all and I didn't notice... After starting the engine there was a loud brief squealing followed by the sound of a motor flying apart... Had I just reached down and gave that tensioner pulley a little test spin before installing the belt I would have saved myself days of regret and sorrow... I broke the tensioner right off at the spring point... It took me two long days to finally fix it...

Yes I have put the washer on wrong also. It is because sometimes the aftermarket pulleys are made different and you don't use the washer. I always spin them now and look to see if there are aligned. Thanks for watching

Colossal! I've made this mistake on a Mazda MPV and broke the pulley bolt off in the engine & had the arduous task of extracting it. It appears that you either had the tensioner bolt too tight or re- installed the original washer and it was not needed. It is a good measure to spin the pulley to check for free movement & use blue licktite on the bolt so that it wont come loose.

What a well-thought-out, user-friendly design . . . NOT. I just bought this model year and make and right off the bat had to replace lower PS return line, which wasn't a cake walk, but not *too* bad - after-market hoses were the same price as dealer for some reason . . . . now I see the temp gauge go to max and looks like there was NO coolant . . . well, refilling didn't help matters so I suppose the water pump is the culprit. Do these thermostats tend to stick closed? I have been hearing what sounds like a loose pulley, so my guess is the WP. Hey G, @16:21 I believe you meant the coolant overflow tank? Thanks for the video - pretty well made but . . . Dude, BLOW YOUR NOSE!!! >=-D
