The sad story behind this song is, when this singer was a kid his aunt committed suicide. This song is about what he could’ve done differently to help her. I listen to this song, to help me stay alive for my nephew. I have autism, severe anxiety and depression and have been chronically bullied my whole life. That’s left me to think no one does and ever will love me. Listening to this song helps me a lot, and reminds me not to let my nephew go through what this singer went through. Suicide doesn’t end the pain. It just passes it on to someone else

in reality, i was almost never strong enough to hold in my tears because of the pain i had to endure. i was weak and frail, and cried easily. it also doesn't help when you're being bullied, and no one will help no matter what you tell them. when going to middle school, i finally knew what the saying "smile through the pain" meant. because people are rude and try to cut you down, and if you let the pain show, it gives them a chance to cut you deeper. smile through the pain, but once in a while, it's okay to show someone you trust and love your pain aswell

“Well time can heal but this won’t.” Those words hit different because my grandma died 4 years ago on the date of 4/18/19. Not because of suicide but many different health issues. When I found out I fell to the floor crying because she was the relative I loved the most and losing her broke me in a million different ways. She was the kindest person I have ever met and I’m lucky to be her grandson because she truly was the greatest person in my life. As someone who has struggled with thoughts of suicide for a long time I'd like to let you know things can get better, but it does take patience and hard work, but hey, it's worth it. Life isn't very long and we can make it to the end if we hold on to hope. And if you feel worthless remember that there are a lot more people like you who need help and a voice to tell them everything's okay. If you can't find any purpose remember that; give others hope and you'll find some too. Above all, you are made in God's image and He loves you, and he wants to spend eternity with you, but it's an invitation and you don't have to go if you don't want to. I hope you all can know Jesus; He's incredible.

This song reminds me of two of my dogs that both died of kidney disease. They had it at separate times but the second time was so much worse because I started seeing the similarities between them. I tried to convince myself that it wasn’t the same thing and that she would survive. Deep down I knew what was happening and it completely broke me when she died

I lost my 13 year old pitbull a day before my 13th birthday, and now I'm 16 and still remember growing up with her and loving her, I still miss Sadie to this day but I know she's in a better place and just pray that God is watching over her for me until I get up there when my time comes.

I was with my best friend last week and he came up to me and slapped me and left. He didn’t talk to me for days, and I was in my room crying for those days. Full on tears all down my face. He was my best friend, He helped me in hard situations and in total was an awesome friend. But when he left me I had a feeling I had never had. I felt deeply depressed. But I decided it wasn’t worth it and tried to get over it. It’s hard. And I thought I was going through bad things, my friend was worse. Turns out a week later he committed suicide. I now have no friends, I’m crying myself to sleep every night, I get bullied and my friend would help me through that. He’s not here. Sometimes I feel like no one even cares. I now you probably don’t care about a word I’m saying. Maybe I’m wasting your time by writing this and you reading it. I’m sorry.

I listened to this the whole night before my favorite Uncle died of cancer. It happened after Thanksgiving day to make it better. I still cry whenever I hear this song.

It's sad when you lose a person that you where so close to but they are still in it heart forever

this is my first time listening to this song and let me tell you Lewis Capaldi you really did something with this I started to pour tears

I dont think i lost anyone that makes this song relatable, but am an empath and also due to the fact that i run from my emotions when i can help it. so this song is just woderful, it makes me go to a whole new dimension

Being an Empath in these dark times must be painful. I'm guessing that you feel other's emotions as well as your own. I have no illusions about being an Empath, maybe more of an HSP. Maybe you can find some refuge in the writings of TNH, (Thich Nhat Han- hope I spelled it right. ) where he urges us to accept our emotions as a part of us.

Last year in September I lost my Taya and this year around 4 days ago I lost my grandfather these two days were the worst days of my life. Life is not fair and will throw challenges your way but remember it's temporary so enjoy as much as you possibly can because one day before you know it ,it will end

Even though we didn't lose a family member it still makes me cry singing my heart out

As a young teen. I remember listening to this song everytime I was about to give up on life. I always imagined the aftermath of what I was planning to do. And it hurt me so much to the point that I cried and stopped thinking of doing it. Now I'm an older teen, living happier than my former self. And this song will always serve as my reminder not to give up. Not for myself, but for the people I love.

My grandmother recently passed away. This is a song that I will never stop listening to when I think about her.

Although nothing really bad happened to me I read all the comments and realised that I'm so fortunate to have what I have now but this song makes me think about what might happen in the future to my cat and well its emotional for everyone who have lost someone they loved I'm so sorry. Don't be afraid to ask someone how they're going and life is short and we have to enjoy it while we can.

People forget that losing a pet can be just as painful as losing a family member. Know that I see you and that you did lose a family member. It can never go away but we learn to live without them. If there is anyway that we can honor them, then do that, whether it is helping out other animals in need, fostering, helping other pet owners that may have a pet that has a similar condition to our pet's passing and so forth
