This is great! I just got the tower version today-I already have the 6L version, so I know the theories behind its operation. But this is a brilliant explainer for The Beast (for instance, I didn't know I could take the bottom section to the bathtub-that saves me a **huge** amount of hassle going back and forth to the sink with my watering containers. Good job dude! Here's one person that you really helped.

Thank you for the kind words! Filling in the tub once every 5 days (i run mine 24 hours x 7 days) has been a gamecharger for me and it has become the humidifer in my bedroom.

@@TheFrenchGlow Heh . . . I just filled the machine yesterday and I'm doing it again today! To think, if I had not seen this video, I would have been going back and forth, back and forth ad nauseam with my one-liter watering can for god knows how long before I would have twigged to the possibility of taking it to the bathtub. Yes, now I'm thinking (just two days later!) of getting another one . . . soon I'm going to be living in one of those produce sections with the mist flowing down over me all day, every day! Cheers-must go fill it now.

Quick point: If it's completely filled with water, the base becomes heavier, and therefore harder to tip over as easily as it it is when it's empty.

The main issue I have with all of these new larger tank humidifiers is that they still have to be cleaned daily. I read the Levoit manual on the 1000S and it specifically states to clean the water tank daily. If that is the case then why have something that can run for days and hold 10L when according to the company you still have to empty it daily? Also, the instructions still state to use filtered or distilled water. Your video shows you filling it up with tap water but their instructions say otherwise. Do they need to update their instructions or are they correct? Consumer reports and others have shown that ultrasound humidifies if not cleaned DAILY will emit bacteria into the air. The only ones that do not are the wick variety. So what gives?

I like your review. I like that you tell us about the bad things too. My biggest question is does the plunger ever get stuck? Does it ever turn off for some stupid reason? I just bought a Vivosun 6L. And, the meter is showing 95% humidity when it's actually 45%. And, the plunger keeps getting stuck and that causes it to turn off. Also, if you set the fan on 3 the floor gets wet and it turns off. That's the kind of review I'm looking for. I want to know if any other humidifiers have these same problems before I open up my wallet again.

Hi! Sorry to hear about your experience. I have never tested or seen a vivosun 6l before but from reading your experience, I have never had any issues like that with my levoit.

Wish you would've done a review on the accuracy of the humidity gauge as it's very inaccurate. It's one of the top complaints from consumers and I didn't do that research until after I bought up after reviewing your video and others. For those who bought this, you should get a humidity meter. The tower is reading exceptionally high (65) while my meter was in the 30s. I knew the room was low in moisture so when I turned it on, it was immediately at 52 which I thought was a red flag and that it was broken.

I use mine everyday and I have a humidity meter / temp in my bedroom. I don't have the same issue and I bought mine. I have no connection to levoit. I feel your pain if it is not working to your expectations and but definitely exchange/return if the humidity read out is inaccurate because you won't have auto mode.

I stop using all of mine because they inevitably get mold in some part of the machine that I can’t seem to get clean .. I was looking into the Canopy humidifier and Cloud humidifier because they have filters and the components can be put in the dishwasher. I’d like to know what your opinion is on those two humidifiers, I don’t believe either have an app.

Im new to humidifiers, so my maybe stupid question is: Do I need to watch the square feet of my whole apartment ? Should I put separate devices in different rooms or should I put this in my hallway so this cloud spreads all over my apartment? Im now interested in this model, because I want best quality. Is this ok or too powerful if I have small apartment like 484.3759ft² ?

Hi! Yes definitely Sq ft for apt is important. For this large tank humidifier, it's great for both small and large rooms depending on the output speed and the secret is you don't have to refill the tank as often. A humidifier with a small tank like the levoit oasismist 6l will have a smaller tank but the same output.

Every humidifier does that if you don't use distilled water. The white dust is just minerals from the water landing on surfaces. Filtering your water will reduce the white dust and lessen how often you have to wipe down surfaces.

Hi! It really depends on how hard your water is. I have medium hard water and I have been using tap. I clean my humidifier monthly with vinegar to descale them and clean with no change in performance. Even with distilled, you still clean but less often.
