    I already have a levoit 300s and it did not work as effectively as I hoped. I saw the vapor but I did not feel like it was better. The auto mode was also ineffective because the sensor reading was always over-optimistic than the actual humidity. I recently bought a Vicks evaporative humidifier. This non-smart appliance did a much better job of maintaining the humidity at 45% consistently. I just love the simple concept that you cannot add more humidity than what the air can hold using an evaporative humidifier. I don't have to worry about what the exact level of RH is. It just works and keeps the room comfortable. I don't have to worry about my hardwood floors or plug sockets getting moisture on them consistently.

    I got a 6000S for my entire apartment that's roughly ~1000 square feet. It does a great job at humidifying the entire place and I'm totally satisfied with how it performs. The only unfortunate thing is that the Auto Mode on the app doesn't let you set your own desired humidity level. It varies based off of the ambient temperature on the home and away mode. Unfortunately for me, with me liking to keep my place at 68F (when the incorrect humidifier's thermostat reads 62-64), this causes it to pretty much run at 55-60% humidity at all times unless I deselect auto mode and select the humidity mode and input the 50% and manual fan speed I want. I'm hoping the app developers will fix the auto mode to make it where you select your preferred humidity for your household and then it just automatically changes the fan speed to compensate. From the reviews I've read, I'm not the only one that thinks this auto feature needs to change. I think with that small software fix, it'll be perfect for larger spaces. I definitely think 3,000 sq ft is a bit of a stretch though unless it's a really open floor plan and it's perfectly centered in the space. Thanks for your review.

    I know it isn't the answer you are looking for, but if you wanted to fix it yourself you could probably do it with an automation on another platform which can either use the humidity sensor on the Levoit, or your thermostat (if it reports that data). Personally when I've been unhappy with ranges I've just used Home Assistant to override and switch the unit on or off at the values I set in the automation.

    Great review. With the 1000s is there much worry about it tipping over and spilling water. Especially with a toddler in the house. How stable is it?

    Hi! I have a toddler and the 1000s and it is really about positioning. I place mine between my nightstand and my bed so my toddler can't reach it as easily. It is very stable with water but if its standing on its own with no water, a toddler could tip it over easily.

    Do I need to use a filter with Leviot 1000s?

  • @davidkeifert19
    @davidkeifert196 ай бұрын

    I would add that the 1000s needs distilled water and grows bacteria much easier then an evaporative cooler. let the wick dry out for a day once a week and should be fine. or soak in vinegar for 20min

    This not true. I have the 1000s & have been using it for several months with tap water. Our water is very hard but as long as you replace the filter regularly, there are no issues. They recommend using Distilled water with ALL Humidifiers, but it is not required & is a waste of money. The only humidifier you have to used distilled water with are the ones that are warm. They will produce a white dust if you try to use tap water. The 1000s works fine with tap water.

    I like the 6000S because it disperses the water in a more natural fashion and thus is less likely to create humidity hotspots like you get with ultrasonic humidifiers. The only issue I see with the 6000S is replacing the wicks every few months.

    I bought the 300s for a room that I keep guitars in. When my heat is on it negates the humidifier, hovering around 28%. Even when the heat it off it only reaches 48% at best. I need something that can keep the room above 50%. What would you recommend?

    @@TheFrenchGlow Thanks for the response. It's a pre-war NYC apartment so we can't close the vents. The heat comes up on it's own. We don't control it. I was thinking of trying the 1000S and hoping it could do a better job. 2 humidifiers are too much.

    @@TheFrenchGlow Am I interpreting it correctly that this appears to pump water from the tank and drip it down over the filters/wicks from the top? That is, in my experience, MUCH better for hard water since it constantly "washes" the filter/wick, as long as you empty the tank completely every 2-3 fills. I had a Hunter humidifier (long since discontinued) that was "top drip", the only issue was that its pump was run directly off of the fan shaft and the bearings were prone to corrosion which made it squeak horribly. I have a Honeywell evap, I can get a filter/wick to last all winter, but that requires a 3+ hour soak in citric acid solution at least once a week because everything in the tank winds up in the passive wick.

    Vornado Evap40 is my pick. I personally let mine dry out between every use. Because of this, mold doesn't have a breeding ground. Alot of evap models have auto shut off, which prevents one's ability to dry wicks completely. I can't tell based on your video, if this has an auto shut-off when the water gets low For more info, reference my vid on humidifiers... kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZYhrktqSZbKtfaw.html
