I’m slowly having friends and family over in small groups of two or four people over at a time with the pandemic. I live in California with the wild fires and expect that the smoke from them will settle locally soon. I think that air purifiers will help I have an open space layout of living room, dinning room and kitchen. I ordered the Levoit LV-H134 for that space and want to order more for the bedrooms one being a master bedroom and the other being a regular size room that fits a queen size bed and 2 dressers drawers. I was thinking of getting the Levoit H-LV 133 or the Levoit Our 131. What size should I get for the bedrooms? What does the test results mean for the participants? Thank you.

Just bought Vital 100 last week and I couldn't be happier, it does a great job cleaning air in my apartment (48m2), less smell, feel fresh when I wake up every morning, simple and minimalistic design. Overall I love the product! Although its a bit expensive in my country compared to Amazon price. I would recommend Levoit to anyone who are looking a good value air purifier !

My grandpairents have the Vital 100. they originally got it for their RV, but when they bought their house, it went in the upstairs study area. I used it the last cupple of times I stayed there, and I liked it alot. I woke up less stuffy in the morning. I thought about getting one for my bedroom, but I don't know what mottle I would get yet. I like the LVH 134, because my room is Priddy big, but I think that one might be a bit too big. I think the vital 100 would doo the trick.

I wish you stated starting air quality numbers, and also tried with other conditions like smoke.

We haven't tested yet, so I don't have a strong opinion. But it's hard to imagine they are all that different from anything else in Levoit's lineup. I expect they are pretty solid overall.

Just picked up a 300S and 200S, the smart functions with my phone are an absolute selling point. Although both are absolutely awesome with smart phone control, only the 300S has the laser sensor which can tell you the real time quality of air. The app also organizes graphs of air quality over time. Love it

There is a Vista 100 PLUS and a P350 for Pets. I'm having a hard time choosing which would actually be more effective since I do have cats. I like the P350, but Vista 100 Plus seems to use more power which results in possibly more suction. I don't actually know what the Plus version means for the Vista 100. Thoughts?

I got really nerdy with air purifiers after getting my dog. I'm not allergic to dogs, but something was bothering me. I was afraid to get rid of her so I got a medify ma 25 for my bedroom. Simple and high quality, but expensive. Turns out she just needed a good bath and I was fine. We just moved into a renovated ww2 era house and I have chronic sinus issues. The Medify is good for the bedroom, but I spend most of my time in the living room. I ordered a $70 toppin hepa purifier that works well, but wasn't meant for big rooms. I just got a levoit 400s and it's awesome! An amazing value compared to Medify. The app is refined and the tech is super smart. Love the smart rules, schedules, auto, and efficient modes.

The tester loves it so much I've had a hard time getting it back from her. She has continued to use it in her home long after our initial long-term test ended. For up to 500 square feet it's one of the least expensive options on the market, while still being high performance.

Hi I have a dog at home that sheds alot and there are often alot of fur flying around my room. I was wondering which of Levoit air purifier best help with removing pet fur and pet odor?

Pet fur? None of them really. Air purifiers remove dust level particulates (and small). Pet hair, while some may get trapped by the pre-filter, for the most part your vacuum cleaner will be taking care of that. As far as pet odors go, basically...the larger the air purifier, the better it will be at removing odors. When it comes to odor there are 2 things you need. 1) Carbon filter 2) Air flow Bigger the carbon filter = better performance Greater the air flow = better performance So buy the largest you can afford or the one that is most appropriate to your square footage.

Great video! I am struggling to understand what the Test Results numbers mean on your final chart listing 8 different models. For instance, the P350: PM 2.5, 0.9 and PM 10, 1.3. Is that good or bad? Is lower better? Or, is a higher number better? And, AQI of 0 except for the 132 model, does that mean all of the units cleaned the air fully except the 132? Would love for you to add a full description of the chart, so we know what we're looking at and can decipher the data. I just bought the P350 and if those high test numbers are what I think they are, then it's going back! Would also love to hear the volume of these various units you are reviewing.

Lower is better. PM = Particulate Matter 2.5 = 2.5 microns in size 10 = 10 microns in size It's a measure of the size and number of particulates floating in the air. If you go the the individual reviews on any air purifier here - moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/ - you can see our testing procedures and full data. Think of the AQI as a yardstick that runs from 0 to 500. The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and the greater the health concern. For example, an AQI value of 50 or below represents good air quality, while an AQI value over 300 represents hazardous air quality. While lower is better the difference between 0 and 1 is basically nothing.

@@frugihoyi Hard to say specifically...but looking at the LV H132 it's the least expensive, lowest air flow, and lowest in terms of build quality. While it's similar in size to the Core 300 and other similar units, it feels cheap by comparison to other Levoit units. Ultimately, it did poorly because it wasn't able to pull enough air into the unit. The filter itself seems fine, but the air flow just isn't there (at least relative to other Levoits).

If you're just going to leave them on medium or high all the time, I'd say go two 300s units. If not, go PUR131, as the auto mode is super nice.

Which ones have the feature on the app that sends air quality alerts to your smartphone?

All of the ones with an "S" after the model number. The ones we tested in this video mostly don't connect to the app. But more recently models have the new smartphone integration.

I have a question please regarding Levoit 300 and 300s that apart from the smart features is there any difference in filtration? Every reviewer mentions the filtration is same for 300 and 300s since both use the same filter but on the Levoit website they mentioned something about Hepasmart technology for 300s model that enhances the performance of the included Hepa 13 true filter resulting in filtering 99 percent bacteria and viruses as well but they did not mention this technology for the 300 core model. Anyone of you have more info about it, I am trying to find the answer. They mention this Hepasmart technology for all the S model series of their units but not for the normal models. So is there an improvement in filtration with the smart models as claimed by company?

At least in the models that we received, the HEPA filters were identical. And in any case, even if they do have a nicer filter for the 300s, you could put that same filter in the 300 when you need to buy the first replacement. Sounds like just more marketing speak than anything else.

I wonder if you can make a side by side comparison between their newest model 600S vs Lv-H134?

The largest models will be better. They have a larger carbon filter + larger air flow. That is true of Levoit and basically every air purifier.

How is the Westinghouse 1701 model? It has NCCO and is 3 years warranty. Walmart is selling it.

I've had mine for almost a year, still working great! Filters barely last 2.5 months but I'm in a basement apartment and the more poor the air quality is the quicker the filter needs changing so I'm definitely glad I have this thing running 24/7 auto features are dumb air purifiers work at their best if you run them 24/7 and generally window closed.

is core 300s next gen of core 300? does it has same performance with core 300?

I have 9m2 bedroom and 20m2 livingroom, all ceilingheight about 3m, and it did very well at both rooms. eventhough at start my room quality already very good at around 20-30. I still can feel air quality improvement. eventhough I'm not sure how accurate the air quality number shown in vesync app, but I think the 300S is a better buy than 300, for very slightly more price. totally worth it and really love it!

The yellow pet filter is definitely a not recommend over the normal white HEPA one. Doesn't work as well. Haven't tried the toxin one yet though.

@@purityce3487 You're welcome. It looks like the RAC is a retailer specific sku, probably just for WalMart and Sam's Club. Basically it's a way they pretend it's different so the retailer can sell it cheaper than the normal price without other retailers complaining about the price difference. It's dumb, but that's the way it works.

@@ScFcTiLLy If you like the whole smartphone integration, definitely. For me, it's not worth it, especially in a single small bedroom. Just turn it on low or medium power and then ignore it. That's what I do with almost every air purifier I have in my home.

Can anyone please tell me if Air Purifiers alter the air pressure in room? Ever since I switched the Levoit 300s I feel like my eyes getting blocked as in an airplane. Any of you having this feeling or it maybe a coincidence that my ears clogged for some reason at the very same moment? Second question is that on the medium speed the device has like a very low whistling like sound. Not on low or high. I hear it only on medium fan speed. Its hard to describe this sound but its like a plane engine but on a low volume. Please help!

They do not alter air pressure. Air purifiers are basically a fan in a box.

I am looking to get either the PUR 131 or the H133 on Amazon and it seems to me like the 133 is a better overall unit and covers more sq/ft but I don't understand why it is cheaper than the PUR 131? If you could help me understand why that is I'd really appreciate it. I need a purifier really bad my apartment has such bad air quality and I know it's really negatively affecting me as I have mild asthma as well... Sorry for the long post but I also wanted to ask if you would recommend the Smartmi P1 over either of the previous purifiers as it is extremely close in price to either.

I just took a second look through our notes and all of the specs and honestly I don't see any reason why the PUR131 should be more expensive. Specs are basically the same across the board, only difference is H133 has a larger coverage area and a larger body. Only reason to get the Smartmi P1 over the H133 or would be if you wanted to control it via your smartphone.

@@jeolmo So far I like it a lot! The difference in air quality for my apartment has been huge from what I can tell. However, it won't help much for pet hair that's already settled on the ground and such so if that's your main problem you'll still have to sweep. Its really good at capturing smells and any particulates in the air though. I've been much less stuffed up since I got it and let it run for a couple days for sure. Hope that helped!

Lower numbers are better. Less PM2.5 / PM10 / AQI = less stuff floating in the air. Levoit purifiers are all similar in performance. It has more to do with the square footage you have. Get Vital 100 for the biggest coverage area. Large bedrooms / living room / kitchen. Get Core 300 / 350 to cover just a small bed room.

According to specs, they are basically the same. According to our real world tests, the 300 was better than the 350. I'd go with the 300 just based on what we saw with our air quality meter.

Good question...I just took a look at the product page for the PlasmaPro 400S and honestly cannot tell what in the world it actually is. Usually when an air purifier says anything "Plasma" (or anything related) it means it uses an ionizer. That would be me guess.

The Levoit 600s "Smart" purifier, shows a coverage of 3175 sq. ft, at only $250!

3175?! That seems...a bit much. When that purifier launched Levoit marketed it as 635 sq. ft. Which is about right for its size. I am hard pressed to believe they have made functional changes that would increase the coverage to 3175 sq. ft. Still a good purifier, but that's really disappointing to see Levoit making a claim like that.

How come that Core P350 has so much worse results than Core 300? I'm trying to understand the difference between them because P350 is a little bit more expensive but everything else seems the same, they even use the same filters.

That is a bit of mystery to us also. As you say, they are more or less the same in terms of hardware. We don't know why the performance was so much worse. Perhaps we just got a less than ideal unit? Just a guess though.

@@natalijanikolic5553 Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be re-testing the P350. We gave the unit away some months ago. The idea with the P350 is the new pre-filter and improved carbon filter are better for pets. Which in theory makes sense. However, in our tests the performance was actually slightly worse compared to the original Core 300. But I do really mean slightly...it's possible it was a margin of error type of an issue. However, in my view the changes for the P350 feel more like marketing and less like features that will actually make a discernable difference. It's still a good purifier, but I don't think it's significantly better or worse for pets compared to the Core 300 (or most other quality HEPA filters).

Why is there such a difference between room size and "covers up to"? For instance the 300 model says room size of 215 sq ft, but the description says covers up to 1,095 sq ft.

Our coverage numbers are pulled straight from the manufacturer's product page. When we created this video Levoit had their 300 at 215 sq. ft. I see now that they have increased it to 219 sq. ft. Where are you seeing a description that says 1,095 sq. ft.?

@@ModernCastle FYI - I reached out to Levoit and this was their response about the difference in coverage area. "Both are correct. Please allow us to explain. The Core 300 has an effective range of 219 sq ft meaning that it will clean that exact size room 5 times per hour on the highest fan speed. So, this model can be placed in larger spaces but will get fewer air changes. For example, if you place it in a room that is 1,095 sq ft it will still work but you will only get 1 air change per hour on the highest fan speed."

Thanks for the reminder...the reason we didn't include the 133 when we created the video was because it had been chronically out of stock. I was pretty sure it was discontinued, though I do see it back in stock now. At the time I was thinking the 134 was a replacement to the 133. In any case, you're absolutely right. I've had my Core 300 for a year now and I love it! Just know you can wash the filters. Use laundry detergent and soak for a few hours. Better than buying a filter every 6 months.

Glad to hear the Core 300 is working well. But I definitely would not recommend washing the filter like that. These are not washable filters.

Way to soft recommandation buddy, with want you to make the hard decisions. You basically conclude that any one would be a good purchase...wtf I have checked other reviews and some of these models were rated poorly!

I am sorry you feel that way. In my view, these purifiers all use basically the same technology and basically the same filtration. So it's really more a case of what coverage area is appropriate for you space. The only one that I wasn't overly impressed with is the H132 and Core P350. I would not really ever recommend the H132, as the Core 300 is better and about the same price. P350 isn't bad, but the Core 300 was better in our tests and the same price. Beyond that, you should buy the one that's appropriate for your square footage.

Just listened to the pronunciation, and yeah, we missed that one by a pretty wide margin. What we lack in correct French pronunciation we make up for in purification testing.
