Levi doesn't parody songs people think it's parody because they end up laughing like it's a joke but really it's impressions of famous older musicians doing more modern pop songs weird Al changes the lyrics Levi just takes two different kinds of music and people laugh because it's humourous

If anyone doesn't think the legends would do this, they haven't heard the story of how Johnny Cash came to sing hurt. This is basically the same thing he did. Love your stuff dude

“I wasn’t prepared for what I saw, and it really then, wasn’t my song anymore.” -Trent Reznor Some artists like the Eagles pucker up something fierce when anyone performs their music. I don't get that mentality. I once read a quote that stated, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." When you write a song that is so touching to someone else, where it hits deep enough in their soul to warrant them singing it for others, that's beastly. That's also how music grows and keeps the older stuff alive. When another artist or group can reinvent someone else's song, it really kind of creates a legacy. I grew up surrounded by music, went to college as a music major, and now my favorite thing to listen to is covers of songs instead of the original. I just discovered Levi on a radio show I listen to in the mornings and I feel like I hit the jackpot.

imitation/flattery... i was in the audience the first time i heard someone cover a tune of mine, they then introduced me... i am humbled still... make it your own, do things i hadnt thought of...like stated above, it stretches it, grows it....5 nites a week, 4 sets a nite, 4 months at a time you start messing with tunes... what if hank did cash etc

    1. He didn't really sound like Hank Jr., but nailed his guitar rhythm and that was a major indicator. 2. Excellent job on John Anderson. 3. Better than average on Elvis, but not great. 4. Pretty good on Johnny Cash. Went deeper than I expected, but excellent on the phrasing. He has a really good voice. Great tone and projection. Can do a lot of variety as seen in his impersonations. Wish he'd make a stab at being a real singer.

You have to account for the audio quality here that key wasn't around in Daddy-Hank's time. All his classic recordings have been pretty low-fi by today's standards. He's got Hank's tone, gait and inflection. I feel the same way you do about his Hank with his Cash impression on this video, but he still caught the essence of Cash, and it was really good. (the video where he does Cash singing Wrecking Ball was SOOO much better imo, for the record)
