Audiences first got to know LeVar Burton in his breakthrough role as young Kunta Kinte in Alex Haley’s groundbreaking miniseries, Roots. He went on to play Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation for seven seasons. And he helped instill a love of reading in generations of kids as the host and executive producer of Reading Rainbow for more than 20 years.

This wholesome bro was quite the influence to me as a kid, and because of his show and as well as certain video games; I love stories, I love storytelling, I love 3D characters, I love getting into the mind of writers, and finally, I love writing. LeVar you're the celebrity I thought I never needed as a scared, disabled child. Now, I'm following in your footsteps and reading books to kids, showing them the art of storytelling.

I grew up with Reading Rainbow, Mister Rogers. I've seen a lot of other folks through these masterclasses who are legendary artisans, but LeVar... I think I'll actually take this one. We must protect this man at all costs!
My goodness, I almost forgot how ethereal this man’s voice is. Hearing him speak with passion is for the mind what a deep tissue massage is for the body, if you’ll pardon such a crass analogy. I had listened to less than thirty seconds of this ad, and already I felt tensions I wasn’t even aware I had be relieved.

No wonder as a kid the moment I'd hear his voice I would be glued to the TV.. and I still get that feeling till this day. I'm 38 years old. Thank you for giving me the permission and the OK to imagine the life I wanted to live before I actually had the opportunity to live it.
Love LeVar's commentary and insights to storytelling's effect on civilization which inspires me as a guitarist who plays music that tells stories for book trailers so learning LeVar's perspective on this art and society is truly masterclass.

I grew up 🆙 watching Reading 📖 Rainbow 🌈 and am going to turn 38 years old this October and watched this in elementary school. Lot of nostalgia!! 😭

Who else is here for the comfort of Levar's voice? I'm realizing now as an adult how valuable Reading Rainbow was for me as a child. We didn't have a working TV much in my home, but when there was one that worked, Levar was on - and the rest of the time, I was reading or creating. He and Mr. Rogers were important counterweights to the chaos, white supremacy, and closed-mindedness surrounding me at home. Many thanks.
