Letting The WOOD 👀 DESIGN The Shape! Wood Turning
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Many times I like to turn a piece of wood just as I've received it. This piece is no exception. I find plain, round bowls to be, well, ordinary. Often the original, organic shape, is way better than anything I could come up with. Try something like this, you may find it draws a lot of positive attention! Finished in shellac.

OK Phil. Here is my short comment. Your videos are the reason I started turning bowls. I give a large portion of my bowls to charitable organizations to be sold for revenue. Therefore, You are the reason these charitable organizations prosper. And yes, due to your recommendation I bought a sandoflex. I love it immensely and would surely treasure the one you are giving away. Thank You.

Phil, another nice piece. I agree looks like some kind of apple, maybe crab? As an old timer also, I appreciate some of the first tool editions when they were made to last and could be maintained and often repaired! Planned obsolescence devised by the marketeers a sad reflection on made in the USA! Whoever gets that original will cherish it! Keep up the inspiring work and stay well and safe. Warmer now here in MT also.
I have been turning for about 6 months. Found out almost immediately that the lathe was just a ‘starter’ and it seems I am constantly figuring out that I need- or at least could use- more equipment and tools. Slowly but surely trying to add equipment as the budget allows. My husband and I watch your channel and love your positive spirit and appreciation for nature and how the projects turn out. Before turning, I had never gushed over the figuring or shape of a piece of wood! Who knew one could get so much pleasure from just appreciating the hidden treasures inside of a chunk of wood. I don’t really anticipate winning- I don’t usually win things like this but wanted to let you know how much we enjoy your channel and your positivity! Thanks, Leah Russell

The good news is I will be able to save and get tools sooner. I'm retired now and once I get my tools, I'll be spending my time turning. Thank you for reading my comment and taking a look at me. God Bless

It is partly thanks to your videos that I have become a turner like yourself. The sandoflex would help upgrade my game!

You are a good guy, Phil...no I don't need a Sand O Flex...but you are a good guy! Oh yeah, love the apple bowl, so natural, so pretty.😊

Thank you so much, Karen! 😊
My baby sister (she's 58) took up turning about a year and a half ago and is making some gorgeous things! Her birthday is coming up in 2 weeks. I'd love to get this for her! She lives in Oregon! beautiful piece as always Phil>

Hi Phil- your creative ways of using odd and ‘flawed’ pieces of wood to turn bowls that highlight those features inspires me. More frequently than not, I now reach for those odd pieces of wood vs the perfectly plain ones. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and techniques.

Wow! I am impressed with how many new turners that are subscribed (as I am) to your channel. You are teaching a new generation of turners many, many tricks of the trade. Thanks for the inspiration to be creative.

Thank you! 😊
First face showed up just as you finished the bottom. I can see that sitting in the middle of an rustic old table with 3 or 4 shiny red Macintosh apples in it. A+ on this one.

Hi, I am a newbie wood turner. I really only made about a dozen bowls and a few other odds and ends. As a new retiree I think I have found my retirement passion. Like you I would love to donate my work to charities but also to handout at Airstream rallies we attend, commentating the event. The sans-o-flex would be a wonderful addition to my fledgling shop. Keep turning! I love your videos.
