Y’all handled the Olympic stuff perfectly this time. Glad you gave Leticia the opportunity to speak on it. Personally, I agree that women should be getting scored according to what they’re able to do at this point in skateboarding just like the men do! When you judge competitions, you’re judging relative to what is being done at the contest. Everybody loves a nine club.

that logic would constitute women just skating with men in competition then. I agree that they could all be in the same competition - there just might be less women due to current top men's skills vs the top women skills

The sad thing is that Letícia doesn't have much recognition in Brazil, most people didn't know her before the Olympics, and now she is being hated because of the confusion with Kelvin Hoefler in the Brazilian skate team. It's a shame that while Rayssa has become a national pride, letty is being rejected by Brazilians. As a Brazilian, I support all the athletes who represent my country around the world.

I have been a skater since 85, at 8 years old. I see both points, but I would be willing to bet, in 5-10 years the only difference between women and men on a skateboard will be height of the tricks and so basically power. I'm east coast, so I barely saw a girl really skating well into the 90s, if not early 00s. Now, I can go to any park in my area and there is a crew of women skating. In Georgia?! Think of what skating is... Balance, gymnastic type stuff, dancing type stuff, spins, hand/foot/eye coordination... and power. I think women have us on most all of those, but power. In 1998, I said women could probably be better than any dude if they tried. The whole "Kids style" skate house laughed me out.

The men's scoring had to be adjusted over the years, so as they evolve the scoring had to be adjusted to new standards. So they get to be scored accordingly with what they can do but not the women? They being scored by the men standards just doesn't work, the girls should be rewarded with the biggest scores when doing their maximum

I ended on the same thing. I get where Kelly is coming from and if the women were wanting to be judged on the same scale as the men trick wise then it is what it is. For the competitions sake that’s flawed as hell because both men and women are skating to their highest capabilities, they are performing at their max mentally and we all recognize that, but the scoring system doesn’t. Their efforts are worth more than a 5 lol

@@NefariousPorpoise The scores should be adjusted, if only to invalidate the invalid opinions of jocks. "Better" only matters to jocks, and jocks don't matter in skating. And that's why they'll always be better than you. If women don't feel like skating at the same level of risk that men skate at, that's just how they skate. They could do anything the men are doing, but they don't see the point in risking their bodies just to be "better". You're too much of a wuss to skate even at their level.

@@TheAlibabatree Are women competing against men? No. "Better" in the context of contests only pertains to who competed the best in that particular contest, not to establish who is the best. It certainly isn't to qualify men as being better than women, and holding them to the same standard only illustrates a disparity in a very inconsiderate and inappropriate way. Women probably never will be doing the same tricks men are doing, and the scoring should reflect the tricks either category is actually doing, not to hold both to the same standard, because they don't both skate the same.

@@morgellon9449 Women are most certainly competing against men. Not in actual competitions (because they’re not as good) but certainly in the eyes of society. In any competitive sport or domain, everyone is competing with everyone. If not, then why be there? If these women truly didnt care about being “better”, then why would they enter a competition in the first place? If women were 100% equal to men, then why would we separate sports at all? I used to skate competitively. Not anymore. I skate for fun now…. Which is why i dont enter competitions. The moment you willingly enter a competition, you are quite literally trying to compete. To be better. To be the best. This isnt rocket science.

As far as scoring skateboarding its really hard to explain. I think they should make it more like a demo/skate jam with maybe a final score based on number of tricks landed, variety of obstacles, hardest trick landed. I feel the scoring is killing the contest as in excluding really good skaters who arent as consistant and having the top skaters in the contest do the same tricks over in every stop to score points. Like O'Neil did like 10 switch 360 flips down drops in street league.

SUGGESTION: When you guys show clips, please just keep the clip in one place at the bottom of the screen. I've noticed you have the clip playing in the bottom right hand of the screen, except for when you cut to a shot of the guest who has the clip playing behind them on the TV that's in the room. So you are cutting between the guest who has the screen at the top right of the shot and the hosts, who have the clip playing at the bottom right of the screen. It's really hard to see what's going on in the clip when you keep cutting between guest and host because the trick keeps moving from top right of our screen to bottom right of our screen. When you guys are talking about the trick and dissecting it and keep cutting between the 2 different shots, we as the viewers can't follow along. Please just keep one continuous clip in one place on our screen for us, the viewers.
